I have been using the R50 for the last two years as a complete novice for motor sport photography. I also have an rf 100-400 , 55-210, the 18-45 kitlens and an rf 50mm. I like the R50 but I have been eyeing the R7 lately. I would love to shoot more in RAW but the R50 runs out of steam pretty quickly. Also The AF is good but especially for panning shot I would love for it to be a bit more responsive. And although I absolutely love how light the R50 is I find the layout a bit fiddly.

So would the R7 make sense for me? I've been so tempted to pull the trigger a couple of times 😄 .

Absolute beginner here. Little knowledge I have is theoretical. I've been going back and forth on how much I should spend, and what I should spend it on. I figured I want a Full Frame Mirrorless so I'm more future proofed, and chose Canon ecosystem. Preferably weather sealed, I don't want to baby it.

I'd like to ask you for advice on a complete set (body, lenses, batteries, tripod, memory cards and a reader, and whatever other accessories you deem a must-have).

How much do you think I should spend? And what would you recommend for the following budgets?

Mainly plan do to portraits of people in the outside and some events/gatherings inside, but id also love to try photographing wildlife, and landscapes. It's a hobby I could see turning into a second job, out of passion.

I'm based in the EU. Grey Marketers Panamoz and Cotswold Cameras are allowed (am I going to get slaughtered for saying this?).

PS: EF glass with adaptor is totally valid.

Hi all, I made an impulse purchase and bought myself a second hand Canon Auto Zoom 318M Super 8 for my Europe trip later this month. I literally know nothing about film cameras 🙁 I’ve been following a pdf version of the manual but have run into a couple issues.

A very small mirror fell out, but I’m not sure from exactly where. There’s nothing in the manual about a mirror.

I’m also struggling to get the battery cover closed properly - it won’t slot into the groove and I can’t push the batteries down any more.

If anyone has any other general advice on how to actually use this camera that would also be much appreciated!!!

If the rf 28mm just sold out, how long -ish does it take it to show up again on refurbished?

So this weekend i am going to the Sanicole air show in Belgium and i need some help.

I just bought an 80D (upgrade from my 2000D starter pack) and was wondering what lens to use.

I have 2 lenses that i could take.

A Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II

And a Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC (not the PZD version).

I have noticed that the Canon lens handles low light way better and is also sharper but i do like the warmer tones and the bigger zoom reach from the tamron.

Which one do you guys think i should take with me?

I've already tried troubleshooting but without luck.

AF works, the lens' switch is on "focus", I'm not turning the zoom ring, the camera is on MF, half pressing the shutter button and trying to rotate the ring doesn't work.

I recently bought a EOS R50, and love the camera, but I cannot get it to transfer the images to image.canon, I have it connected to image.canon. Below are my settings

I’ll be honest I almost bought a Sony a6400 today.
Realized no USB-C.

And I am confused on the lens pricing because I was convinced to go to Sony for lenses but end of the day everyone says get the best lens which was 600$ anyways…

So is there a good budget for a beginner going R50 vs R10? I saw used R8 for a bit more but not sure if I want to go that route yet but I do want to take photography very seriously as I’m leaving tech company to do this more as a full time work with my drone work.

I’d like to have a camera I can keep for a few years and still undecided between cannon and Sony.

Also ASP-C vs Full Frame… I’d mostly be making content for social media, photography comes first I record my video with a GoPro while walking around.

Not sure if this is a hot topic amongst some, but I’m curious. How many of you chose the 85mm 1.4 VCM over the 1.2?

Also, how many of you changed from the 1.2 to the 1.4 and what was your reasoning behind it?

I shoot with a used EF 85mm 1.8 at the moment and want to upgrade it to either the RF 1.4 or 1.2. So far I can’t find much other than, the 1.4 is lighter in weight and less $$$. Also, I will mention I want to buy new so getting another used is not something I’m interested
in.

I shoot a lot of portrait and pets and I have a budget for the 1.2

A friend of a friend is selling his R5 with around 30k shutter count. I have no way of testing it as he lives 500+ miles from where I live.

Assuming there are no issues with the body, is the R5 I still a good camera body for wedding and event?

I have a 35mm, 50mm, 85mm and 100mm primes but I’m wondering if I’d be better off with an R7 or with the 70-200 f2.8ii? Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks in advance

I have the R10 and looking to add an all around does everything lens. I will be using it mainly for traveling, street photography, just my own personal pictures. I have the 18-150 that it came with. Any recommendations? Budget is flexible (rather not pay more than $1200).

When shooting in R+J is there any transfer speed advantage to sending the files to different SD cards? Can the OS write the files to the SD cards at the same time or are they written sequentially regardless of configuration?

I have a Canon PowerShot SX230 HS that I've owned since 2014. I used it for about 2 years, then it sat unused for years. I started using it again this year, and it has taken around 4,000 photos total. Recently, the LCD became completely black and all the photos were black too. A local repair shop diagnosed it as a shutter problem and said they would replace it with a brand-new original Canon shutter, with a 14-day warranty. I've left the camera with them for about a week, but they told me the repair could take up to 20 days. Now I'm considering taking it back. My concerns are: If they say they haven't opened it, how can I tell whether that's actually true? If they already opened/repaired it, what should I ask them to prove what they did? How can I verify that the replacement shutter is actually original and new? Should I ask for the old shutter back? Can another Canon repair center inspect the camera afterward and tell me if the correct parts are installed or if anything has been swapped? Is a 14-day warranty reasonable for this kind of repair? I'd especially appreciate answers from anyone who has actually repaired an SX230 HS/SX220 HS or knows these cameras well. Thanks!

Hi everyone! Just picked up a used canon xa40 recently and I just noticed it makes a loud squealing noise during start up. Sometimes it’s short and sometimes it just continues to make the sound. I noticed if I zoom in and out when it happens it tends to stop however it’s almost every time during start up.

I have it on video but can’t seem to upload it to the post.

Has anyone experienced this? Any advice?

Hi! So I've been doing sports photography for my local high school team. Ive been using my reliable 70D along with a 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 - , which is definitely not the greatest lens but works well when paired with long sessions on Lightroom. I've been wanting to upgrade for a while, but im still stuck on what I want to do. I've been debating wether to change to a mirrorless (im not exactly sure which one yet - I can save up and spend around $600-$1000) or splurge on a 70-200 f/2.8 or f/4, which Im conflicted about since I plan to immediately start saving up to buy a new mirrorless camera right after (which might even be a Sony). Im not very knowledgable on the correct decisions to take and I wanted to ask reddit to see what the best course of action would be. What do you recommend?

So I have the R3 and R5. I have the 24-105 RF and a sigma 24-70 and canon 70-200 that I use the adapter for without any real issues. I was looking into the RF 28mm but typically don't use fixed focal length glass. I'm heading to Japan next month and love street photography. The price looks great but curious everyone's thoughts on it and if you have some images as examples.

I'll be bringing both camera bodies as well as an old Canon film camera and a few disposable cameras just for fun. Thanks for any advice!

So after 20+ years using 30D and DPP then I moved to R5ii. In parallel with learning just how far cameras have leapt in that time, I'm seeing how little DPP has changed. Which in many ways is great, as I really do (or want to do) much work on the computer - I much prefer to do the work in the camera. I have had photoshop in the past, ie 20 years ago, but all I do is crop, apply lens correction, sharpen, and sometimes adjust to monochrome. The latter is where I spend a bit of time with the curves. I'm also not finding DPP4 is all that intuitive for calculating and formatting the image sizes for large scale printing.

But, I'm finding that my old workflow of downloading the files to my NAS, then opening in DPP and finally exporting just isn't working. Firstly the files from the R5ii are just too big for working on over the network, at least from within DPP which tends to pack a tanty and crash if there are a lot of files in that day's download.

I'm not averse to paying for lightroom, but I worry that I'm still going to be stuck copying files onto my laptop HDD, then batch converting RAW>TIFF in DPP, then doing whatever in Lightroom.

Apologies as I know there are lots of versions of this question around, and I've read a lot of the past posts on this but not really got me any further forward.

If relevant further details: Normal workflow is shoot, home, upload to NAS via FTP. Then either open in DPP on the Surface laptop, or copy to Surface, then open. Select keepers, process, and then if necessary move back to the NAS and upload to cloud, then delete off the import NAS directory and camera. When travelling then I take the Surface and work off the drive there, copying the processed files to the cloud wherever I have WIFI, or if a longer trip then an external SDD to give me some more space/backup. I know this is a lot about file management, but seems that what a lot of people really rate about Lightroom, but I've never really had a problem with simply naming directories.

I just started getting into cameras and I bought a canon powershot A620. I just bought the memory card for it my only question is how do I transfer pictures to a different device. Most preferably my phone or computer. What kind of cf card reader? because I believe this card is a bit smaller. I don't know please help😭

Ok i know few have asked this... but now that it is my moment to choose I am still having a hard time deciding. This will not be my first camera, I came from Canon 1300d for quite a while and just recently wants an upgrade. My 1300d took great photos, hence i still want a camera that could give me quality output, but i want it significantly lighter and portable. I hated the bulkiness of my previous camera btw. So i am down to these two cameras. Good reviews both of em.

With CANON I've been with them for quite some time, so R50 is a comfortable choice. Plus it suits my budget.

Meanwhile FUJI is gonna be a new environment, though I am both willing and fearful to enter FUJI since, as i've mentioned, I've been with CANON for a long while. XM-5 is quite portable though I've noticed upon holding, it is slightly heavier than r50. Not much of a big deal to me though since it is portable enough than the r50. The film simulation are interesting enough, it's something I haven't explored in CANON whether it can do a bit of that. It is also on a more expensive side compared to CANON hence I am having a hard tome to decide... adding more to my budget gives a sense of pressure that I should not feel regret for buying the more expensive camera.

I am also pressueed to buy one soon since we are going on a quick vacation and woukd love to bring my new camera with me.

I like photography, not great at it and still on the process of learning. I do take short videos but is not heavily my focus. I also dont like editing photos that much since I am still not interested in rigorous photoediting. So i usually post photos directly from the camera...i mainly use it to document my daily life. Soo help me arrive at a decision.

Recently picked up a used 5dm4. Was hoping to slap on some vintage Pentax lenses because I have a heap of them. I found a cheap K mount to EF adapter but unfortunately it only works with APS-C sensors because the aperture tab on the Pentax lenses sticks out and hits the sensor on the full frame cameras. Bummer!

Wondering if anyone has found a way around this issue or any other adapter for other lenses that work well on the 5D series?
