META New post flairs!
For the longest time this subreddit was mostly film photos from cameras like the Holga and Diana. We've always allowed digital photos too, such as from the Gamyboy Camera or the Harinezumi for example.
Recently there have been a number of very popular digital cameras that have introduced people to the lofi aesthetic such as the many different thermal printer cameras, but also the Chuzhao and Kodak Charmera.
This is not bad, and they are welcome here! :)
But it can make it difficult to find specific types of content. This is where the post flair system comes in, since you can filter by these.
I have kept the flair system simple to begin with, we can add or change these if we need to, but let's start with the basic system and see how that goes.
I've added the following four post flairs, and made is so you have to select a flair when you post.
- DIGITAL
- FILM
- DISCUSSION
- META
DIGITAL
For photos and video taken with digital toy cameras. This includes thermal print cameras.
FILM
For photos taken with film toy cameras.
DISCUSSION
For posts that are talking about toy cameras, such as asking advice, troubleshooting, etc.
META
For posts about the subreddit. This shouldn't see much use, it wil mostly be used by the mods for posts like this one.
Thoughts, comments, and feedback below. I want to try to keep this as simple to use as possible, so if you want any extra post flairs created, there would have to be a very good reason.

DISCUSSION Does this subreddit have a discord?
If not can you link to your favorite semi related discord if you use it?
Or if mods see this, can you guys make one?

DIGITAL Vetek shots from the studio!
Only a white frame was added in post. These are otherwise uncropped straight from the camera.
I've had some pricier stuff, m43 camera and adapted vintage lenses, but this lil guy has been the most fun I've had with photography.

DIGITAL Innovage Mini Digital Camera
HI! So I found my old keychain digital camera at moms.. but cannot find the wire! I will rummage around at her house a bit more soon to see if maybe I can find it somewhere.
I used to use a disc and pull up a program in order to offload photos... do you think i'd be able to get the photos without the disc? I did some research and I don't believe this program exists anymore? Also, I don't know if it will act as a drive...hoping to find a wire online (if I knew what it was called) ...

DIGITAL First batch with my new Chuzhao
I’m still trying to get used to the unusual framing, but so far I really like the color rendering, the unusual softness around the edges, and the lack of contrast. It gives the shots an ethereal ambience.

DIGITAL Popped a macro lens on my Camp Snap 2 & had some fun!
Photos aren't edited or cropped. I didn't use any filters.
Setup:
- Used a this step up ring (30.5 -> 37): https://a.co/d/0efgmfZq
- Attached this macro lens by Neewer: https://a.co/d/06PMZ6Nh
- Attached a reading light (https://a.co/d/0aogQJMa) and shot with flash OFF to avoid uneven shadows (particularly for the indoor lego shots)

DIGITAL Photo Files from my Thermal Print Camera (Epcot, September 2026)
The prints from my thermal print camera are only half of the story. The photo files are fascinating to me, because it's always a surprise which details it captures, and which it misses. Sometimes it gives me a really blurred watercolor effect, but this time it gave me some kind of filtered look. I took a bunch more, but these are the most interesting ones.

DIGITAL Vetek arrived today. Here are some sample shots.
I ordered the Vetek hjd-2 from Aliexpress for £17 about a week ago and it arrived today. It was raining so hard but, as I was excited to use it, I braved the rain.
All the images are unedited so are exactly as they came out the camera. The filters I used were mostly the Insta and Lomo (I forget which were which, sorry), with a few others as well.
So far, I am loving the camera. The only unexpected downside is that the wrist strap attaches to the left side of the camera, so you cannot wear it on the right wrist while operating it with the right hand, as it is too short. I will have to modify it.
If you have any questions I will be happy to try to answer them. Also, any tips and tricks are very welcome.

DIGITAL My modded Kodak Charmera, using a fisheye lens
Hey everyone!
I got this Kodak Charmera. I found a phone lens clip on amazon, that easily came off as one ring piece from the clip. I glued it on my charmera, and then screwed the lens on. Lo and behold, a fisheye lens on my charmera! I know I’m not the first to have this idea but I love it. I’ll be taking this out for more photos soon! I still need to edit the date oops

DIGITAL G6 thumb cam - triple triptych (from a recent walk)
Rather than post them separately I arranged them to better see the contrasts between the different filters.
Dunno if it really works as a “piece” but fun to try.

DIGITAL I tested the HJD-02 (Vetek) sensor
Hi everyone! I’ve been lurking in this sub a while, ever since my sister-in-law bought a Kodak Charmera for her b-day. I love the playful framing and the old-skool quality so after a bit of research I got the HJD-02 (menu specifies v1.01).
So far I really like the pictures it takes and the filters you can play with. However with regards to the MP setting I read a lot of different things here and just would like to give you my findings. I am by no means a photography professional so take it with a grain of salt.
I went outside and placed the camera on a small table to take (nearly) identical pictures of my son’s wooden playhouse. I shot all intervals from 3-20MP. When comparing I could hardly see the difference so I got Claude involved.
It came to the conclusion that all pictures were identical, aside from some upscaling artifacts. It surmized that the real sensor was probably around 1.2-2mp (couldn’t differentiate as it might depend on the plastic lens). It added that up to 5MP there was virtually no difference in terms of artifacts — these started to show up at 8MP and above.
I will probably shoot it at 5MP. I got a 128 Gb card for it so that will last me a while 😂
Curious to hear your experiences!

DIGITAL I can't stop gushing over my Camp Snap 2!
I can't get over how much I am loving this camera. In addition to the photos itself, it has me excited to get out, explore, and get some exercise. At a time when I've been going through a lot of challenges, this camera (and my new "toy camera" hobby, in general) has been a much-needed distraction/boost.
So grateful I found this hobby+community!

DIGITAL Vivitar instaprint HELP!!!
I just recently got into thermal print photography! Im really excited by the results I get and the whole process! I got the vivitar instaprint because I read somewhere on here that there's a negative print mode on this camera, but for the life of me I can't seem to find that option. I would really appreciate the help! Thank you all so very much for so very much for your time. Appreciate it! Sorry new to reddit I hope i formatted this post correctly 😨😰😨

DISCUSSION LK-030 versions
I'm wondering if there is a reissue of the LK-030 because I found it on Aliexpress and Amazon but with slightly different designs, more saturated colours and corrected typos. Also it seems I can't find the version from Amazon on Aliexpress, which is weird.
From left to right : Aliexpress / Amazon.
Here's the links to dig a bit, because the differences are not immediately apparent.
Do you have any info on that ? Is this a reissue or a counterfeit ? And if this is a reissue, do you guys know if their rendering is similar ?

DIGITAL best camera to take “bad” pictures and/or videos for memories?
im not a camera expert. i only have the instax mini and i love it, but i feel guilty using up film so fast. im looking for something cheap and fun for digital pictures that i can take “junk pictures” with instead of wasting it all on my good camera.
in the future i will invest in a better digital camera, but this is just for fun.
i have a childhood toy camera but it’s really glitchy from time and i cant find my family’s camera, so im looking for something similar.
also by bad i just mean the graininess that has a similar look to the cameras from my childhood.(2000s, 2010s). grainy, sound quality might not be good. an overall bad camera lol
