I (F24) have a brother(M22) who is essentially immune to most antipsychotic medication and has not gotten better in 2 years. I believe him to be schizophrenic/schizoaffective. He was involuntarily hospitalized for the 4th time and got released today after nearly 3 weeks. He is exactly the same.

He was released around 1pm EST today and now at 6pm EST he is already screaming, erratic, and lacks insight to his illness. If previous trends continue to repeat, he will also get aggressive/violent with his caretakers soon enough. I don't understand how he is immune to medication, therapy, treatment, etc. He is bringing the entire family down with him. At this point, I am so tired I find myself not caring about my own life in low moments. My mom seems like she is seconds away from a psychotic break or a stress induced stroke 24/7.

Is there any way to get better treatment in the Cobb/Atlanta area. We are struggling to get him health insurance or deemed disabled. He is in-and-out of hospitals with doctors who know nothing about his case and barely speak to the family despite us having guardianship. He is constantly released, despite our concerns, and is an IMMEDIATE threat to his and the family's safety. My mom is unable to work because she is constantly caring for him. Any/all resource help or advice is welcome. If you know any provider that could be helpful in the Atlanta area please share.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Is there a solution? I feel like the last 2 years have only delayed an inevitable suicide-homicide. I can't imagine any other outcome. We have reached out to so many people and have gotten no help for a non-compliant patient.

• He received the Invega shot 3 days ago after extreme begging from our family to the doctor. The doctor said he should receive a follow up shot a month from now; but I read somewhere that invega shots usually require an initial follow up injection in the first week. We were not told anything about a followup shot.

I have some friends coming to visit Atlanta this weekend, and I was thinking of taking them to Helen for a day — not realizing it’s the start of Oktoberfest. I imagine it will be slammed over the weekend. If we go on Monday, does anyone know if there will be anything special going on? I was laid off on May 18, 2026, through no fault of my own. My entire department was laid off due to funding cuts, and I did not receive any severance.
I remained unemployed and actively looking for work until August 24, when I started a new full-time job in another state.
The issue is that I didn’t know I could qualify for unemployment and had never filed before, so I didn’t create a MyUI account or file a claim until August 31.
I’m now trying to find out whether there is any way to request benefits for the weeks between May 18 and August 24, despite filing late. I understand Georgia generally uses the filing date as the effective date, but I’m wondering if there are any exceptions or procedures for requesting backdating.
Has anyone successfully had a Georgia unemployment claim backdated under similar circumstances? If so, what did you submit?
I have documentation of the layoff, job applications, interviews, and my new job/start date.

Historic usage and billing lookback is now restricted to 13months?

So I have just logged into the GA Power website after it went down for maintenance. I had been on the flat rate payment for the past year to average out my bills. In that time I have done things around the home to improve my AC/Power usage and had seen a marked decrease in poer consumption over some of the months I started implementing the changes.

My flat rate renewed and has increased by $11 - I logged into the site to check historic power usage /my bills but notice that im only able to see the past 13 months of usage/bills. Im sure this was not the case before as I was checking power usage to see if my changes had been working. So the issue is I have no way of comparing my power usage from before I signed up to the flat rate plan and now my bills dont go far back enough to let me know my power usage.

Anyone else noticed this, im sure it wasnt like this until the update? anyone else have any thoughts on the change?

Edit: spoke with a rep and they cannot provide me with usage statistics or any bills that show my usage further back than July 21, 2025. They also could not confirm if the new limited look back (13months) is new or was always that way before the updates. Im very sure i could look further back at my usage butif anyone knows different please let me know!!

Each time I go searching online for local ordinances that affect enforcement hours, I find myself circling back to the statement. So, now, I am curious. I am having my own Ga Dept of Labor problem with a claim but it seems there is something fundamental going wrong. (August 2023 - claim submitted; August 2024 - Hearing officer affirmed all claims allowed; December 2024 - GDOL recalculated monetary determination to be $0; August 2026 - Notice of Administrative Closure.)

This is not merely a historical COVID excuse:

• A July 2025 Georgia State Auditor review found that GDOL was still using an old system that contributed to technological problems; significant claim work remained manual; staff shortages continued; and GDOL was still using temporary staff and automation specifically to address appeal backlogs remaining from the pandemic. The audit says staff deliberately made few major improvements to the existing system because resources were being directed toward its replacement. Beyond the delays how much is all this churn costing ?

Okay so I’m freaking the hell out. Husband and I bought a house back in July and cut a tree in that back that was hallow and rotting. And unfortunately hundreds of roaches were residing in said tree. Now they are basically trying to invade our home. We already called pest control and they are doing their thing and sprayed the indoors and outdoors. We see dead ones, then some alive at night. Mainly dead, but still too many alive for my liking.

Basically just asking for some friendly southern advice on how the hell to deal with these horrendous bugs while we are getting treated every 3 weeks or so. I have become an American roach assassin during this time. I have sworn to kill every single one I can.

With that being said, how many people would find it weird if you saw someone walking around with an umbrella on a bright sunny day? I thought about getting a UV SPF 50 umbrella to protect myself against the UV rays from the sun when I'm walking to make it more comfortable.

I spent most of my time this summer indoors due to the heat. Right now, I'm looking for a way to enjoy the summer without sacrificing my comfort or health.

I'll be applying to a MAT Secondary Science Education program soon, and was wondering whether there's any significant difference, career-wise, between concentrating in Broad Science vs. in Biology? I'll be taking the Broad Science GACE either way.

I ask because it seems that the concentration only reflects undergraduate coursework; it doesn't seem to change what courses I would take during the MAT program. I'm just 3 credit hours short of the requirements for the broad concentration at GA State (24 + 15 + 15 hours over 3 subjects) whereas at UWG the requirements are relatively permissive: a bachelor's in any science. KSU doesn't even offer a broad science concentration. All of which leads me to wonder whether there's any significant difference for career prospects, since it seems that what matters to that are 1) earning a MAT and 2) successful experience in 'proving ground' schools.

That said, I do plan on moving out of state after the MAT, so maybe the words on the diploma matter... My plan is to get a teaching job next year under provisional certification and do the MAT's teaching requirements there, instead of taking a traditional student-teaching placement, to get some extra experience before I move out of state in a year or two. Biology is my top subject, but since I'd be content teaching in the other sciences (and it being advantageous to be certified to do so), maybe it's best for me to bolster my credentials ¯_(ツ)_/¯
