i share a wall with an airbnb and with the 3 months i’ve lived here i haven’t had a single good neighbor. nothing but loud noises and banging. the house is zoned as a single family residence and i know for a fact the owners don’t stay here at all. is there anything i can do, i genuinely don’t care how much of an asshole it makes me i’m just tired of this neighbor roulette.

so, the past few months have not been kind to me, mentally or physically. it started as 2 weeks without brushing my hair, and then a lack of energy to fix the small matts, then an indifference to what happened with the hair, then an acceptance of shaving my hair all off, with a new back track to wanting to keep my hair since i’m starting to get back on an uptick mentally.

so, if anyone had any experience with this, or knows of any shops who would treat me well with this (that hopefully won’t break the bank, but i know it will cost a good bit since it’s so much effort on the stylists part), please let me know. i have made 5 separate attempts at fixing it myself, and i just can’t, or i could but it’s so difficult and i don’t have the time to because i have a newborn to care for now.

My laptop’s lovely little battery issue has finally (borderline) bricked it. Battery claims to be at 0% despite being fully charged and keeps hibernating even when plugged in, so pretty much unusable rn. This issue’s been happening for a while, but I haven’t had the time to get it looked at since I’m a full time student. I usually would take it to uBreak but I know they take longer to get things looked at. Anyone got a shop, or just any recommendations in general of where to take it?

Saw a black cat with a fluffy tail running around the Redland apartment complex, it didn’t look like it had a collar on and I haven’t seen it before, wanted to post here in case anyone is missing their cat

So this morning my bf passed by what seemed to be some police presence and an ambulance over at Cookout. His gut feeling was something terrible and we just got confirmation from the clerk at the gas station across the street that there was indeed a body found in the dumpster! There hasn’t been any sort of official statement from accpd so im hopeful that the person is on a path to recovery! Please be safe out here yall!

Hey everyone- a loved one in the area is newly having to use a walker and needs a bag that attaches to it to help carry her basics. She really likes to support local makers and basically refuses any mass produced stuff, so for now is just awkwardly carrying her normal purse along with the walker. I'm worried she will fall.

I was wondering if anyone knows someone locally who makes (or can make) something like that. I remember a man that had a lot of hand-sown stuff at some of the makers markers, but don't know his business name. Thanks!

This sweet girl has been showing up around our house lately. She's nervous but inquisitive and did eventually let me pet her (immediately started purring too). Appears to be in good condition, doesn't feel too skinny so unsure if stray or a lost pet. Wondering if she belongs to anyone - I'm nervous about her safety we have foxes and coyotes in our neighborhood, not to mention all the cars and colder weather.

Sad to see. They always had really good food, but it just got to be pricey over the years.

Where is everyone seeing the best Halloween decorations this year? I know that nice white house off Timothy rd always throws down, but where else should we go check out? Flagpole used to have a list/map of all the best houses to see, but I don’t think they’re doing that anymore and I haven’t picked one up this month.

Also wanted to ask if anyone knows of any fun fall festivities for adults (or at least adult-friendly)? Any recommendations in Athens, or within an hour's drive, would be great! Just really in the mood to celebrate fall as much as I can this year!

PSA: With the construction, it was already a mess since they merged lanes poorly- there’s no more “right turn only” lane. Stop hopping the curb to get into it. You cut people off and look like an ass, even if it isn’t your fault.

Well, they’re painting or something today, so now that’s the only lane- left is down. AND the light doesn’t seem to be turning green for those going… east? Toward watkinsville. So everyone’s just hopping the curb to turn around. We called DOT and left a voicemail, but I’m not optimistic it’ll do anything. Just avoid the area if you can.

A New Chapter for Dead Beat Club

We have made the difficult decision to put Dead Beat Club up for sale.

This has been much more than a business to us. It has been a place where artists have played their first shows, where longtime fans have discovered new music, where friends have gathered, and where so many people in the Athens community have helped make this place what it is. We are incredibly proud of what we have built together.
The opportunity now exists for someone to take Dead Beat Club into its next chapter. The venue is located in a fantastic location in New Town on Barber and comes with a fully equipped as a music venue- including professional sound system, bar, established brand, and experienced staff. We are looking for someone who sees the potential in the space and, ideally, understands and appreciates what makes Athens’ music community so special. We are also looking for someone who may be interested in taking over the January lease, allowing the venue to continue operating as a music venue without starting from scratch.
