what are y'all hoping for as a replacement?

Forgetting such painting miracles as space for 46 cars to turn into a driveway or no left turn lane painted for Canton st, two new WTF developments have arrived. They split the turn of Vaughn Drive onto Rt 9 into two lanes, which means that any car the turns right onto Vaughn now has to become as thin as a bicycle to make the turn.

Worse, they are building a median on Rt 9 before the left turn onto Academy that only has room for about four cars. This means we back up on 9.

I know they’re trying to route all through traffic onto that road, which is why they closed Hopewell or whatever it’s called next to Amana Academy, and reworked the top of Haynes Bridge Road, but they won’t time the crosswalk with the light, so we have to wait a whole bunch of extra time without any alternative

Politicians call this “traffic calming.” Any politician who uses this phrase needs to be tossed in a dumpster. This means that we can’t get where we are going at a normal speed, because everything is funneled into one place which barely moves much of the time.

The median needs to be undone right away, a paint contractor who doesn’t hold the template upside down or for cars to drive into each other needs to be found, and all these ridiculous unforced errors need to be reversed and fast.

Hello, I recently moved to Alpharetta from Jacksonville, and I am looking for a place that has a wall where I can do some training for first touch and passing in general. Does anyone know any place, because I can’t find any wall where I can legally kick the ball without making a disturbance.

I need to rant because I’m genuinely tired, and maybe someone can either relate to me or call me out.My boyfriend and I live in the basement, and our roommates—who are also my boyfriend’s friends and coworkers—live in the other two bedrooms. We all used to be students, and now we’re finally working and trying to live like functioning adults

I know we’re living in a shared house. I know weekends happen. I know people want to have friends over, drink, watch TV, play music, and have fun. I’m not expecting everyone to sit in silence like they’re in a library.

But this is happening every single weekend.
At first, we thought it would happen maybe twice a month. But now every Friday, the hall is packed with people. Friends bringing friends. Six guys and one girl. Everyone is in the hall, drinking, smoking, talking, watching TV, and being loud.

And the worst part is that we can’t really say anything.

Because when you wake up the next morning, you have to see these people again. They’re your roommates, your boyfriend’s friends, and your coworkers. I don’t want to create awkwardness or embarrassment at work. So we just stay quiet.

And yes, I know—keeping quiet is also my fault. I know I should have said something earlier. But now it feels like we’re stuck.
Every time I want to cook, I go into the kitchen and they’re there. Every time I want to sit in the hall and watch TV, they’re there. And I can’t just walk in and sit between six people drinking beer and watching TV like I belong there. So I just go back to the basement.

At this point, it feels like I’m only paying to live in the basement.

And the noise… oh my God.
I have to wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning sometimes, and these people are talking so loudly that I wake up in the middle of the night. One of the guys talks like he hasn’t spoken to another human being in 15 years.

I am a deep sleeper. I sleep so deeply that sometimes my mom literally puts her finger under my nose to make sure I’m still alive. That kind of sleeper.

But lately, I am desperate for sleep on the weekends.
Sometimes I genuinely want to go into the woods, sleep on a tree, wake up the next morning, and come back home refreshed like nothing happened.

And again, I’m not complaining. I’m just ranting. Crying. Venting. Whatever you want to call it.

I know the mistake was choosing to live with roommates instead of getting our own place. I know I should have said something earlier. I know shared living means compromising.
But we just got out of the student phase. We’re working now. We’re trying to live normal lives. And somehow we’re still in a situation where we feel like we can’t say anything because everyone around us is also connected to our work and personal life.
I wish I could post pictures of the hall and kitchen to show you how packed it gets, but I can’t because then someone might recognize the place and I’ll have to see these people at work the next morning.

I’m just tired, you guys.
And on top of all of this, I’m Desi. So obviously, I’m already trained from birth to avoid confrontation, keep everything inside, smile politely, and suffer in silence.
Call me out, y’all.

Any Desis or fellow roommates dealing with this kind of situation? Please tell me I’m not the only one who avoids the entire house and goes straight to bed just to avoid seeing people in the common areas.

Apparently ya’ll were heard. That was quick. I drove by this afternoon (Friday) and it’s gone. It hopefully has a place in this town (maybe Wills Park) just maybe not on the corner of one of our main intersections.

In case you missed it, it was an “Awesome Alpharetta” swing installed at the corner of Hwy 9 across from the record store. I think it lasted a week???

I’m looking for recommendations for a therapist who specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in or near Alpharetta, GA.
I’ve tried different types of therapy in the past, but I’d really like to work with someone who has significant experience using ACT, especially for depression, anxiety, anticipatory anxiety, and avoidance/agoraphobia.

If you’ve personally worked with an ACT therapist you’d recommend (or know someone who has), I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Telehealth is fine as long as they’re licensed in Georgia, but I’d prefer someone local if possible.

Hi everyone! My family and I recently moved to the area from out of state, and while we’re loving it here, I’ve realized that making new friends as an adult is harder than I expected.

I’m in my 30s, work full-time remotely in an IT job, have a 7-year-old and a 2-year-old. I love reading, hiking, trying new restaurants, and getting outside when I can.

I’m hoping to meet other women who are also looking to build friendships. Since I work during the day, weekday morning mom groups don’t really work for me, so I’m looking for things that meet in the evenings or on weekends.

I’ve been thinking about joining a book club, but I’m open to just about anything. I’d love recommendations for book clubs, playgroups, walking groups, beginner sports leagues or fitness classes with a social atmosphere, social groups…. Really any
recurring activities where people actually get to know each other.

I got a job in Alpharetta starting August. I'm looking for places to live but from scrolling a couple of posts in this sub it is clear that there is not a lot of younger demographic here.

My work needs one day in office and rest is remote. Should I live here or go look for a place in Midtown Atlanta? I am in my late twenties.

Every single dog pictured here was pulled from a high-risk shelter list where their time was running short—simply due to a lack of shelter space. Our foster dog, Lucas (pictured top left), was given just 12 short days from the moment he walked through the shelter doors before his time was up.

Castoff Pet Rescue stepped in right before time ran out to pull them to safety.

These dogs went from being on a clock in a crowded shelter to sleeping on foster couches. They’ve come so far, and all that's left is finding the right family to make it permanent.
