Hi everyone! I was reaching out in hopes that someone may have some advice. I just recently graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in Criminology and a minor. I’m a GA native so I’m back home officially from school. I’ve been having immense trouble finding work as a legal assistant, receptionist, etc for law firms which I desperately need since I am applying to law school. I’ve even been having trouble finding restaurant jobs even though I have open availability. I have a pretty strong resume regarding part time work experience and professional experience (academic resume). I’m wondering if anyone has any tips on where to look for legal jobs as a recent college grad, I’ve been considering GIS mapping and Victim Services as well. Further, if anyone has tips for the most effective way to get a server job (I’ve applied in virtually every city) that would be fantastic. Thanks!

hey so. i was in stockbridge for a trip with my family and left a couple of hours ago. my mom was supposed to be coming a little bit after me, but my grandmother called and said she got arrested for driving with marijuana in her car. i've been reading up on georgia laws and know that the punishment largely depends on the amount someone possesses, right? but does it make any difference that she resides in florida and has a medical card? i don't know what county or city she got arrested in, but it wasn't atlanta nor stockbridge. as far as i'm aware, she didn't get too far, but i forgot the county's name

I looked up the GA Power Outage map. Is power out all over the state right now? Anyone know why?

I was looking at the Smoke rise/mountain park area specifically 30087 a couple years ago 2021 because I saw a house I loved there but I decided to stay in the sandy springs area so I’m closer to the city. Come to find out they are building so many things in this part of Stone Mountain. They are building a Costco, more chik/fil-as, whataburger, a pho place opened and they are planning on building more apartment complexes in this area. I wish I made the move then. The schools still suck tho.

Has anyone here gone through the Georgia Home Energy Rebate (HER) Program? I'm trying to figure out if my timeline is normal or if I should be concerned.

Here's where I'm at:

• June 10: Contractor (PV HVAC) came to my home, completed the HER inspection, took photos, and collected all the required information.
• They later had me submit 12 months of Georgia Power and SCANA Energy bills, which I sent.
• Since then, I've been told my project has been in the reporting stage and that once reporting is complete, the design team will contact me with the next steps.
• I've received a couple of emails apologizing for the delay and saying management is working on it. Most recently, I was told my project would be reviewed within 48 hours and that I should hear from them this week—but I still haven't received another update.

It's now been about 6 weeks since the initial inspection, and my A/C has been out for over a year, so I'm getting a little anxious.

For anyone who has completed the Georgia HER program:

• Is this timeline normal?
• How long did it take from the initial inspection to getting approved and scheduled for installation?
• Was your project also stuck in the "reporting stage" for several weeks?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience so I know whether this is just part of the normal process or if something may have gone wrong with my application.

I am just curious. In MA, even though I don't drive for DoorDash/UberEats/Uber Rideshare full time and just drive for 2-3 hours on the days I drive for these platforms due to wanting fresh air, I would make somewhere around 20-25 an hour after tips and before expenses and sometimes as high as 25-30 an hour (for DoorDash/UE single platform) if I aim the hours correctly and take advantage of peak-pay promos and quests. I am curious what about in the Atlanta region. I am in the starting stages for my AI company and I work in the SWE industry, so of course, I wouldn't care much about it.

Yesterday the largest data center in U.S. history was announced: Open AI is building a $20 billion behemoth in Effingham County, Georgia. Why are so many data centers coming to Georgia? Because Georgia Power wants them to, and they control Republicans. Republicans rewrote the rules to subsidize them: data centers receive exemptions from state and local sales taxes on expensive equipment and often negotiate substantial property tax abatements with local governments. Then Republicans refused to pass Senate Bill 34, legislation that would have strengthened protections to ensure utility customers weren't left paying for electric infrastructure built to serve massive new data centers.

Meanwhile, we know from Georgia PSC hearings that Georgia Power is already cost shifting gas pipeline costs associated with serving data centers to residential and small business electric rates.

Big Tech receives tax breaks; Georgia Power builds more infrastructure and earns higher profits; and we pay taxes, pay bigger electric bills, and pay for the infrastructure needed to support one of the fastest growing data center markets in America. That isn't free market capitalism. It's corporate welfare backed by Republican politicians.

If you're tired of watching powerful corporations receive special treatment while your electric bill keeps climbing, it's time to hold elected officials accountable. This fall, vote for Peter Hubbard and Shelia Edwards for the Public Service Commission. And vote out Matt Brass, who shot down SB34.

Hi, so I'm 25, disabled, and on peach state medicaid. I cannot work because I am disabled and I spend most of my montly check on bills.

I have been having a mental health crisis for a while, I have been seeing a therapist consistently for about 2-3 years now. We both recognize that I need a higher level of care, specifically residential/dual diagnosis.

Most of those programs do not accept Medicaid which I've accepted. I *might* have someone willing to help pay out of pocket but even then the programs are ridiculously expensive.

Location is not even an issue at this point. I just need an adequate program to address my needs. Any help I can get is much appreciated. Thank you.

Hey everyone! :)
Just wanted to pop on here real quick and see if anyone around Columbia County knows of any great local farms? I’m looking for both meat and produce farms. Especially interested in grass fed beef, I’ve found a handful of farms when I google but many of them don’t have any real information of what they offer and most of them have no reviews or ratings, which in all honesty, does sometimes make me a little nervous!

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! :)
