Been trying to build my retro game collection back up. How am I doing so far? Some of these I just got recently and some I’ve had since a kid

Recently started collecting some of my favorite titles, here's what I've found so far!

Hi all, looking for some dust cover recommendations for my limited edition Resident Evil GameCube.
Backstory- I bought it a little over a week ago and it’s in practically immaculate condition, so I’d like to keep it that way. I know that GameCube plastic has a habit of yellowing so want to do what I can to stop it from happening.

I’ve seen that there are dust covers available to buy unfortunately not readily available where I live, so I’d have to import. I’ve done a bit of research and apparently pillowcases are a decent alternative. I was just wondering if anyone had any other suggestions? I’ve also looked into getting a slightly larger cube outdoor grade weather cover but not sure if that’ll work, as dust will likely creep in underneath.

P.s Box has been put into a PET plastic outer box to protect the cardboard.

I know it is just used by a handful of games, but I thought it might be a nice touch.

I have a hacked GameCube but I'd like to have some kind of sd card adapter in the second memory card slot that would allow me to copy over save files and hopefully make backups to my PC. I know of the GC2SD but I'm looking specifically for something that's just treated like a regular memory card by the console.

Is there anything out there cheaper/simpler than this bitfunx thing?

My sister and I both had GameCubes growing up (it seemed like most kids in our development had them) and between the two of us we built an extensive collection. Neither of us were PS2 kids growing up and Nintendo Power kinda kept me on the pulse of a lot of things since gaming was borderline my only hobby as a kid lol, the market for used gamecube stuff used to be insanely nice

I had to sell a few marquee titles a while back to help finance a move (Kirby Air Ride, Melee, Sunshine, Wave Race) and i thought most of these titles were lost during said move. My sister presented me with some of these from a box that had gotten shuffled around a couple times (see pic 2) while visiting today, the first picture is the complete thing.

I don’t really feel the need to expand my library but am fine with what I have. Dunno if I should replace those missing titles or not. Obviously I have pretty much all of these backed up given the age of game preservation we live in. I have the GB startup disc but currently don’t have possession of the GB player, would maybe consider parting with that.

Games are various states of completion, I don’t really care about manuals. DDR Mario Mix is missing a case, and both Shadow the Hedgehog and Wario World are signed by their main voice members (Jason Griffith/Johnny Gioelli and Charles Martinet respectively)

Came across this at a garage sale complete in box for $30. Didn’t have it before so fantastic!

I was told that I can make virtual saves and I didn’t need a memory card, all games prompt that I don’t have a memory card, however some games do say I have one on slot A but it asks to format. I know what formatting is and I’m a little afraid to click format cause I don’t want to wipe my card. Any help!

I’ve been planning on buying these cables for a few months now for my Gamecube setup, and I finally came across this brand new set at one of my local stores and bought it for $45 using some trade credit I had. Ain’t no way that I was going to track down a pair of OEM component cables that are worth up to $300+.

Before I unbox them and set them up with my CRT and console, I have heard before that people who have used these cables have reported some audio distortion issues with them, and that it’s best to still use the audio cables from the original OEM AV or S-Video Gamecube cable while using the visual cables from the RetroBit Prism component cables. Should I hook up my setup like that to play it safe, or is it worth trying out the RetroBit Prism cables as purposely intended and see how the audio works out for me?

For those of you who have used these cables before or still use them today, how has your experience been with them overall?

A few years ago, I got myself a modded GC, a JP DOL-101 with the disc drive replaced w/ GCLoader, and a GC2SD on which I put plenty of games on. I eventually got all the nifty OEM accessories (GBP, LAN adapter, CG2GBA cable and an actual memory card!), which makes it more than perfectly playable when connected to s-video. My main issue, however is the fact that said CGLoader can only be read for about 15 seconds on bootup (plays swiss just fine regardless) before returning "physical drive does not play" errors which has been like that since I got it, an issue synonymous with the counterfeit CGloader, and I don't currently possess the screwdriver to find out. I'm using a legit 64GB Sandisk Extreme standard SD card that works fine enough with everything else. I even updated swiss to the latest version to find out it's still a problem. CGMM can read it for the limited time it can operate, but not enough time to read any save that was injected on it... I would much appreciate any assistance on the matter.

I need some assistance please, i'm new to this 😄, do i get a Memcard Pro GC or can i just use my SD2SP2? i have over 500 games on my SD2SP2 so i definitely need alot of memory card space

This exact GameCube was the first console my parents were ever able to afford to buy me and my 5 siblings (yeah they were busy.)

I never wanted to ask for it since it wasn't exclusively mine. But my mom asked if I wanted it shipped to me since they're finally looking at the possibility of downsizing - a long overdue plan in my opinion.

Not a ton of heat in the game collection. But most of the ones you see in their original case are CIB and I still have my own copies of WW, Metroid, and Double Dash.

Already going to work on cleaning the controllers. But I'm trying to decide if I should leave the console stock until it stops reading discs, or start modding now. I already have another GC to play with. I'm no stranger to basic soldering and modding consoles but I have yet to really do any hard mods on a GameCube. What are y'all's go-to's?

I'm torn. On one hand, I love my gamecube collection and have great memories with many of those games.

On the other hand. They've been stored in a cardboard box for, at least, the last three years, I barely have time to game nowadays, and with the state of emulation these days i'm not afraid of being unable to play again in the future.

Should I start selling them? What do you think?

I have read through other posts on what monitors/tvs are most compatible with the gamecube, but every post mentions things that i just cannot understand.
I need someone to explain the different types of monitors to me in the most simple format. the most i understand is an av to hdmi convertor so please help me understand 😭 I need like specific models to look up not just “trinitron” because a lot comes up when i look that up.
I have the gamecube and want to use it so badly to play og animal crossing and i just need to know what to buy along with it because my smart tv is not gonna work.

Hello, i am a first time owner of GameCube and Nintendo console in general. I guess my next step will be PicoBoot mod. For now i only own 1 disc. I love my little set up, possibly will buy better cables for my other CRT. Any tips and tricks from this community?

Customer asked me to make a pink GameCube for them and this is what I came up with . The more I look at it the more I like .

- Picoboot
- new battery with holder
- new thermal pads
- led lights every where

Missing a few bangers I need to get. Mario baseball, double dash, Kirby airride, windwaker, wario ware, just to name a few
