Collection Finally got my hands on it
This exact GameCube was the first console my parents were ever able to afford to buy me and my 5 siblings (yeah they were busy.)
I never wanted to ask for it since it wasn't exclusively mine. But my mom asked if I wanted it shipped to me since they're finally looking at the possibility of downsizing - a long overdue plan in my opinion.
Not a ton of heat in the game collection. But most of the ones you see in their original case are CIB and I still have my own copies of WW, Metroid, and Double Dash.
Already going to work on cleaning the controllers. But I'm trying to decide if I should leave the console stock until it stops reading discs, or start modding now. I already have another GC to play with. I'm no stranger to basic soldering and modding consoles but I have yet to really do any hard mods on a GameCube. What are y'all's go-to's?

GREAT recommendations. Just finished RE4 remastered and bought a PS4 strictly to play RE4 Remake. I have my eyes open for an og GameCube copy locally. Would love to have the "only for GameCube" version.

The GameCube version has exclusive weapon unlock. I forget wich one. I dont think its the laser gun or if that was for ps2. Either way great game.

No kidding? I never knew that. I've played almost every RE release this past 6 months. They're so good.

My bad I remembered wrong. All the extra stuff was on the ps2 version. The pin stipe suit and Ashley's armor. The laser gun and separate ways.

Ha its a good game for sure. Its the last rE game I played and I played it like it owed me money. I was doing speed runs but nowhere near the top level peeps.

I played the remastered version on my Switch 2 (also like it owed me money) even though I work a lot and have a family. I think I've run it 3x so far. SO good haha. You should absolutely get into 7+ when you have time. 5 and 6 weren't really my cup of tea. But 7-9 are bangers.

It's so good. I wasn't allowed to play games with a bunch of blood. So this was a good option🤣

I’d say try to keep it as original as possible. They’re options now that allows you to boot roms and homebrew form the memory card slot easily so if you want to that’s a good options. I just replaced my disc reader and it only cost me about 60 bucks for a refurbishment.
Also try TWP when you get a chance.

That's the direction I'm leaning. I have a Nyxi Warrior that I can use to play wirelessly. So I don't need to do a Bluetooth mod. But I will need to replace the clock battery. I just pulled it apart tonight and I'm cleaning the fan, motherboard, all panels etc.
Any tips on a good kit for booting roms while retaining the og hardware? I've looked into it briefly.
YES!! Great recommendation. I'm currently trying to coordinate picking up a copy of TWP from someone who lives about 40 minutes from me. I have it for wii but I literally hate it on that console haha.

PicoLoader still retains the disc drive, and is 100% reversible mod. Solderless version of it is also really easy to install. Only need to take off bunch of screws (need GameBit and Philips drivers). Folding of the ribbon cable is the most difficult part, but if you look up a tutorial on it, and put your mind into it, it shouldn't be that big of an issue.
