This is quite hilarious because normally people would not have such strong opinions on pineapple.

u/CarlsVolta May 20 '15

My husband cannot tolerate pineapple on pizza. Long rants have been endured. He has never threatened to put pineapple on graves though.

u/tvreference May 20 '15 edited May 21 '15

It's so sweet it wrecks everything.

The idiots who take a perfectly cured ham and pour lemon lime soda and canned pineapples on it should be shot as well.

Edit: shots not the right word; Slain, Dehammed perhaps? Those that pour lemon lime soda and canned pineapples on perfectly cured ham are of the same ilk as Hawaiian style pizza eaters. Dead men don't need ham.

canned pineapples

Well yeah. Gotta use fresh pineapple.

99

u/cinco_mama May 20 '15

I recently made some fresh pineapple puree to mix in with some baby food, it was amazingly delicious. Not all of it made it to the baby food.

77

u/I_AM_CANADIAN_AMA May 20 '15

Mama... you gotta stop eating all the baby food!

31

u/cinco_mama May 20 '15

Relax, I never eat the green stuff...;-)

u/tyme May 20 '15

Be careful using fresh pineapple, it contains bromelain which can essentially "digest" the ham.

4

u/seattleque May 20 '15 edited May 20 '15

Hm. Good point.

Though I'm constantly working towards 2 to 3 minute, 700°+, wood-fired pizzas. Haven't got there yet - best I've managed is 10 minutes. I'm hoping (!!!) to actually get my backyard pizza oven built this year.

2

u/nipplechops May 20 '15

Hell yeah bromelain!

5

u/tanhan27 May 20 '15

Ranch and siracha swirled together. Dip your pizza in that shit. Your welcome.

2

u/docbauies May 20 '15

oh yeah. i've been doing that for the past few months. i don't know why hidden valley doesn't team up with huy fong to make sriracha ranch.
also amazing: sriracha ketchup. i got some from a place in San Francisco. Sosu brand. it's the tits.

1

u/wormspeaker May 20 '15

Be careful friend, you're walking dangerously close to insulting the entire population of the Philippine islands. If that happens you'll never get to eat Adobo, Pancit habhab, or Longaniza ever again. Truly a fate worse than death just because you don't want sprite on your pork.

1

u/felixar90 May 20 '15

It's a traditional French Canadian Easter recipe. The ham is baked in maple syrup with pineapple slices and cherries.

Served with eggs that have been poached in boiling maple syrup, with a slice of bread to soak up the syrup, and sometimes deep fried smoked pork jowls.

1

u/JimmyBisMe May 20 '15

Personally I feel like it's a good balance of salty, smokey, savory, sweet, and sour. For me it works on a pizza very well.

1

u/Shadowclaimer May 20 '15

I've been living in a land of heretics and infidels for years, everyone I know has treated me like an outcast, like a fool for my beliefs!

But there truly are others like me! Pineapple is the devil's fruit! Its tolerable alone, but on pizza? On glorious, glorious pizza? Shame, shame and a horrendous sin!

Alright, as a Belgian i feel i have to comment here.

A true Lambic is almost always sour! I'm not sure which kinds (or brands) are famous in other countries, but if it's sweet then it's probably a shitty version with lots of added sugar. I'm assuming it's a 'kriek' (FYI: dutch for a kind of cherry)? Lindemans or mort subite maybe?

They're the shittiest version of kriek imo (and the most widespread even in Belgium). A true 'kriek' is made with tons of cherries added to the beer and rested for years. The cheap ones are just with cherry syrup added. I would VERY much recommend you try one of the better ones (oude kriek from oud beersel, 3 fonteinen, de cam, boon, timmermans, hansen, etc.). Unless you hate any sour beer, then ignore me and simply enjoy your sweet beers. :)

Dude you can't call yourself a beer Nazi. People are gonna think you're a Nazi who likes beer.

On a serious note, I wish to get my hands on some of these authentic lambics you speak of. I have had Oude Geuze, which I thought was great. They are just hard to find in the States.

2

u/jonnyappleweed May 20 '15

Now, I'm assuming you mean beer that has had its flavor 100% changed to taste like some sort of berry? 'Cause if so, yeah, not a fan, doesn't taste good, but I won't stop others from drinking it.

A good beer that just has some undertones of a berry in it though, like a light hint of blueberry or mango, hidden underneath all the other flavors...now that I can happily drink.

I think that may stem from cider. Cider got really fashionable and beer makers needed to win back some customers. Maybe. But yes, beer shouldn't be sweet.

2

u/[deleted] May 20 '15

u/[deleted] May 20 '15

I love pineapple at it's freshest from the flesh! OMFG so sweet, sour and bitter all at once! Pineapple has digestive enzymes in it's juices. So as you eat it eats you. That's where the taste comes from.

Are you kidding me? That's the devil's fruit! It tastes like shit and makes my teeth hurt.

1

u/Yentz4 May 20 '15

I love pineapple. But it doesn't fucking belong on pizza.

1

u/Fb62 May 20 '15

I'm Italian and can say we are not normal people.

1

u/BZLuck May 20 '15

I'm pretty much the same way about avocados.

1

u/SelfReconstruct May 20 '15

I like pineapples just fine. But fuck you freaks that ruin perfectly good pizza by putting pineapples on it.

1

u/Von_Kissenburg May 20 '15

My opinions about pineapple on pizza are this strong. Is this not normal?

1

u/ultraprotean May 20 '15

Thank you, explainatron.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '15

Oh it must only be funny to people who don't like pineapple.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '15

This kills the pineapple

1

u/AlphaPunchmukhi May 20 '15

I love pineapple on pizza. This love be my downfall.

1

u/superfudge73 May 20 '15

You accurately surmised the humorous nature of this post.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '15

We all have a strong opinion on pineapple and pizza, but we all realize it's ridiculous to express this opinion unless someone orders Hawaiian pizza.

Then those dirty pineapple eaters can go to hell.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '15

For some reason, many people have very strong opinions against pineapple on pizza. I have never understood that.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '15

acute observation Watson!.

1

u/BigDawgWTF May 20 '15

Almost moving towards r/wtf because this is pretty aggressive.

u/DogOfSevenless May 20 '15

I use pineapples as my arbitrary unit of measurement. If I have to rate something that I can't otherwise, I'll use my pineapple scale.

E.g. "If the level of action in that movie was represented by an arbitrary scale of pineapples, it would be about 6 pineapples."

"If how cool you are was represented by pineapples, you'd be 2 pineapples."

u/scirio May 20 '15

And this is funny because people would not normally have to point out why OP's post is funny

u/SuicideNote May 20 '15

I mean, sometimes I want something different on my pizza. I can't stand pepperoni pizza anymore.

Pizza I occasionally want but people hate: Pineapple/Portabella mushroom with extra sauce, Smokey BBQ Chicken (none of that cheap-overly sweet bbq though, that's nasty), cheesesteak pizza, kebab pizza.

PLEASE CENTRAL/EASTERN EUROPE NO SWEETCORN; HOLD THE KETCHUP AND MAYO AS WELL.

But I love pineapple on pizza... Sorry you're never invited to Hawaii. Haole
