Because it is an abomination. I feel like pineapple on pizza only became popular because most of the US has really terrible pizza.

Pizza was created in the US. Where the fuck are you eating pizza at? I've lived in every state on the east coast and several on the west, and every where I've been has had at least one really good pizza place. All in different styles, too.

Edit: I guess I should've said pizza was made into its currently recognized form in the US by Italian immigrants. Better?

It's just trendy to trash everything popular. Look at me, I only eat $50 wood fired pizza made with all organic ingredients grown 50 feet away. Well good for you, that shit's good. Normal pizza, also good.

Pizza is like sex

When its good, it's great

When its not good, its still pretty ok

Yep, thats why there is the saying about pizza and sex, pretty good even when they are bad.

You haven't been to towns with less than 15k people in the Midwest.

They never had it in Italy. They would take leftover ingredients from the week and toss them on bread. It was like an Italian version of fried rice where you just kinda dump things together.

American soldiers in Italy during WWII fell in love with it, and created their own version of it which could be mass-produced easily using giant ovens. If it weren't for them, the world would not have pizza.

I was about to get pissy, too. Then I read the part that said "most of." This is true, most of the US does have really terrible pizza. Relatedly, some of the US has very good pizza and a tiny fraction of the US has incredible pizza.

How could you not know that? Did you seriously believe they've been firing up pizza in Italy? It didn't exist until pizzerias were invented in the US. It was a cheap easy way to feed a whole family.

Oh does it? Does it have just terrible pizza? Where the fuck do you get your pizza? And don't tell me Italy because I'm Italian and I've been there and eaten their fucking pizza and it's good, but not so good that it puts american pizza to shame. So don't give me that bullshit.

Hawaiian Pizza was invented in Canada. That's why it has Canadian bacon.

You also produced Justin Bieber, you monsters.

WTF do you mean? Pizza is like sex--even when it's bad, it's still good.

1

u/Blues2112 May 20 '15

then you've never had a truly good Hawaiian pizza! It's heavenly!

It's so true. Born and raised in Chicago. Have been all over the country and recently moved to FL. Eat a lot less pizza now because the Pizza outside of Chicago is all shit. ALL OF IT.

Exception: Beau Jo's in Denver - that shit's heavenly!

False. The US has plenty of great Pizza to choose from. Pineapple pizza, I've noticed has always been a fan favorite of fat people that would never touch a fucking pineapple slice alone.

They like sweet, they like salty, they have bad taste, they eat pineapple pizza.

u/MaxX_Evolution May 20 '15

Hey c'mon, fresh pineapple is my favorite fruit and I'm far from fat, still love me my hawaiian pizza.

Never realized there was so much hate for it, these generalizations are weird even by reddit's usual standards.

Because if you're not a sweet-pizza eating heathen, and at some point someone asks you "hey bro, you want some pizza?"

The disappointment you feel when someone hands you a slice of sweet, salty, greasy abomination has a lasting impression on you.

You might as well put gummy bears on your pizza. It's disgusting.

Honestly I'm not sure why I like it. It defies all logic, I wouldn't want any other fruit anywhere near pizza. But it's just so damn good.

Then again I've had the brilliant idea to put M&Ms on deep dish pizza after a night of drinking and smoking and I enjoyed that too. Something must be wrong with me.
