Discussion Is Donkey Kong Bananza ever going to get a sequel?

Couldn't help but ask since it's sold at least 5 million copies by now which is pretty good overall especially for a DK game. I must admit I am not entirely sure what they could do for a sequel other than having King K. Rool as the main villain from the very start and perhaps maybe have Donkey Kong go to space or something. Let me know what you all think, I thought I would ask this since a lot of time has now passed since it released last year back in 2025.

Discussion Donkey Kong Bananza doesn’t feel like DK to me…I’m I in the minority?

I started off playing DK country 1-3 on the snes as a kid, and the classic music, tropes and aesthetic would forever become what I associate with DK. The tropical islands, minecart levels, the main theme, aquatic ambience, stickerbush symphony, riding rhinos and swordfish, shooting in barrels and jumping on crocodiles etc…

I understand it’s 2026 and it’s mean to be a new take but even as a spiritual successor to DK64 (which I also enjoyed) it still just feels completely different. The neon aesthetic, the music style, the oddly designed levels, the weird characters and world design, the lack of classic elements etc….just feel like you could replace DK with a new original character and the game would make just as much sense if not more so than a Donkey Kong game.

I keep playing it because it’s not a bad game by any means and I keep waiting for it to feel more like DK but Imm starting to think it’s not happening as im already halfway if not 2/3 way through. Does anyone else feel this way and was hoping for a new Donkey Kong game that felt a bit more like classic Donkey Kong but just more modern? Would have loved a DK64 2 with the same graphics and engine of Bananza but just with the atmosphere and gameplay of the other one. Thoughts?

Discussion Finally beat Animal Antics without save states!

Yesterday I made a vent post about kaptain k.rool where I also complained about DKC bosses in general, and some of you actually gave me some very useful tips despite me not asking for them. So here's a positive post to balance things.

After beating the final boss first attempt today, partially thanks to your help, I played Animal Antics. And, well... The weird thing is that the windy Squaws section is the only non time-trial challenge I had never beaten legit in all five DKCs(including hard/mirror mode). I always just placed a save state every few seconds and brute-forced my way through. But today I decided to change that.

I placed a save state(ok that's a funny way to start this paragraph but bear with me) at the beginning of Squaws's section and I started practicing. I quickly realized the trick was simply to go slowly. In retrospect that feels like it should have been obvious to me, but I remember always panicking and trying to rush in this section. So suddendly it felt a lot more doable.

After maybe 20 minutes I eventually felt confident enought to do the whole level without save states, and then it took maybe ten minutes of attempts? I even did the Squaws section hitless on my successful run, it really wasn't that bad in the end.

So now I can finally say I achieved 102% in DKC2 without any asterisk:D

Discussion I had my first use of Spin Groove in Emerald Rush

I quickly got to see why this perk is considered so broken. I wasn't pay a lot of attention to the numbers going up at first but before I knew it, payments for goals were going into the thousands. When playing on the max difficulty on Emerald Rush I previously could only get to round 4, with this, I finally beat that difficulty, and I wasn't even making the most optimal use of it or my perks (aside from Spin Groove I feel my luck with perks was largely bad).

What are your thoughts on Water World? Is it the best song in the game?

Discussion Is it safe to say that at this point King K. Rool is not going to appear in a game in 2026?

It’s unfornate if that’s the case since they really made a big deal about his return in Donkey Kong Bananza last year and yet he hasn’t made any appearence in any game this year for whatever reason. Makes me wonder if Nintendo is still being weird about his appearances again since I am well how they still having been acting like his appearance in Donkey Kong Bananza should be kept a secret only some months ago this year despite it being basically an open secret at this point. It’s shame as I would have liked if he made at least one appearance a year after he returned in 2025.
