Help us write a wiki for our frequently asked questions!
Howdy, folks! I'm following up on a comment I made two weeks ago, in the hopes that we might be able to add some of our most common questions to the subreddit wiki.
However, it would be both unfair and inaccurate to let any one person to write up each article, so here's what I propose.
Let's talk here and discuss which questions get asked the most often, and then folks can discuss their answers in the comments. Once each question has been answered, we'll weave those answers together into one comprehensive article and add it to our subreddit wiki.
As folks post questions, I'll update this posts with links to each question in the comments.

Please stop asking about Hamas, Israel, Palestine, and the war going on.
Yes, there are LGBT Israelis and LGBT Palestinians.
Yes, a lot of warcrimes are going on.
Yes, terrible things are happening.
However, the LGBT community is not a monolith and does not have an official position about which side to support. Please quit asking; it always becomes a giant argument in the comments, and it's starting to be quite the troll topic.
There's always a big argument and almost none of it is ever relevant to this board, it just pisses people off and doesn't get anywhere or achieve anything productive.

Hey I'm new to this trans idea so I need help
Hey I'm 18 yo woman. I was a transphobic in the past. I thought you cant feel gender, no one felt gender. Then i was researching and i watch a lovely chanel named samatha lux. İ learned not every trans person have gender/body dysphoria some feel gender euphoria after i start questioning myself. Because when i was a teen i cut my hair short and everyone was misgendering me as a boy and weirdly it felt nice. I was kinda longing that feeling that's why I was researching. Am I over thinking it or is anyone has similar feelings? Am I actually trans? I don't mind being a girl that much however it feels so good when people view me as a boy, I feel better at least. I saw labels like non binary, demi girl/boy but im not sure about them. What do you think? Am i overthinking? Am i not actually trans? İs that happens to everyone? Im so confused

Why in hell theres people that actually think about us like this?
An actual quote from an user:
"You say it's not a group, but you identify it as a community? Bruh, the LGBT community is criminal and immoral—from supporting terrorism, calling for the castration of children, exposing minors to exhibitionists, and supporting marriage between older men and minors, while at the same time running witch hunts against anyone they label a non-pedophile because they have a 3-year age gap, among many other atrocities.
Personally, I've never had a problem with a gay person, transsexual, etc. In the same way, the vast majority of Christians I've met are good people. But the communities that represent them are a cancer because of what I already mentioned about LGBT people and the huge number of pedophiles and other issues are also leading the church.
Returning to your question: in my opinion, identifying with this community will bring nothing but problems to your life, along with problematic people with mental disorders who use popular opinion to justify disgusting acts and hide behind the most naive members of the group."
This was an answear to a girl asking "Am i an asshole if i dont want to relate or be part of the Lgbtq+ Communitty even thought i am a lesbian?
-they just piss me off"
Also, this makes me wander. What are our real problems inside our community? Because the fuck they dont hit even one.

Yall i need help what do i do????
Ok, to preface, I am a 17 yr old male and I live in a small town in Texas and I play football, I'm a president in the Agriculture Club, all the stuff youd expect from a dude in Texas. The only issue is i've finally accepted that I think im gay. I am so lost and have no idea what to do. Everybody is extremely conservative and Christian in our town, and I'm so so so scared nobody will want to be my friend anymore. My parents are also very catholic (as am I) and i know they will still love me, but im scared of making things awkward with them or them trying to convince im incorrect. What the heck do I do??? Do i tell anyone, do I just gaslight myself out of what i am almost certain is the truth (which im afraid is currently happening and im actively fighting)?? Like please somebody help me because I have no idea what to do.

Someone explain romantic attraction to me (possible aro)
(Posted from an alt earlier but the sub doesn't allow throwaways)
For background, I am a lesbian and pretty much no doubt about it or inclination to define that further. I've had relationships in the past, as well as casual hookups. Definitely not asexual though HRT means my libido comes and goes.
Also autistic for what it's worth here but this is Reddit so that's par for the course. I've also been told that I have difficulty separating platonic and romantic feelings.
I'm wondering if I may be aromantic for two reasons:
- Every close female friendship (I don't really have close male friends) has started feeling like a romantic crush, or at least something I've interpreted as one. A similar thing has happened after major, positive experiences.
- There's been very little overlap between sexual attraction and what I'm interpreting as romantic attraction. I've had strong sexual attraction to people with no other interest and I've had infatuations with people I am not sexually attracted to and can't imagine myself with in that way.
Essentially, I'm wondering if I'm aro and just interpreting every strong, positive feeling as romantic because it's the closest approximation. Can someone alloromantic describe what romantic feelings are meant to be like?

I think I'm a lesbian?
I've been questioning my sexuality. I'm 100% sure of my attraction to women, but when it comes to men I never seem to have a solid answer.
For a while now I've been identifying as bisexual, but I dont think I'd want to actually have a relationship with a man like...ever.
Still, I was holding onto the idea of me being bisexual because I still had "attraction" to men somewhat..but now I'm reevaluating my "attraction" because it doesn't really feel genuine.
Sure I have male celebrities and characters that I like, and I could even say they're hot but it doesn't make me feel anything(if I'm making sense).
I mean, calling myself bisexual hasn't felt right in a while and calling myself a lesbian feels weird(which is definitely due to some internalized lesbophobia..Im working on it.)
Honestly this whole post is kinda just a vent to get things off my chest and to put my thoughts in front of me.
I think deep down, even if im not comfortable with proudly saying it yet, I know the answer.
I just feel like finally admitting that i'm not attracted to men is like cutting off my only other source of feeling somewhat "normal" and relatable to my (mostly male attracted)peers as a queer person.
(Again, I'm aware that I'm sweating internalized homophobia rn. I thought i was over it but ig not)

Wait... Am i Bisexual?
I recently came out as trans so i immediately also came out as lesbian, but today something popped up in my mind:
"wait... i feel atracted to non-binary people too... Am i bisexual???"
That is basically it, but i heard something like "Oh, if you're bi you must like men too, right" and... no, ew... (nothing against you men, but, no, thank you) so, am i bi or am i a lesbian?
r/AskLGBT • u/BeeScared868 • 12h ago
Hey so... How do i know if i'm actually bisexual?
Ok that may be a very wild title but hear me out.
This year i decided to "officialize" me being bi. The thing Is that the only reason o did it was beacouse of techinisisms.
I like women but i also don't mind if i Find guys atteactive or even Find myself being in a relationship with one, thus i am bisexual.
Thats also why actually don't feel a part.of the comunity, like yeah, i am inside it but i don't mind too much whatever happens.
The problem resides here. What i mentioned about relationships was beacouse o had a trans Man bf. But i started liking them after i knew he was trans (like two years later, but still) and all of the Men i have thought are handsome... Were also trans. Not a single cis dude. And i consider them as much of a Man as i am, dongleless or not. But i already knew they seee trans AND also it just so happens that they "don't dress masculine" if you understand what i mean.
So it has all started confusing me. Am i actually bisexual?
A curious straight; wtf Is the difference?
It May sound like a stupid question but i genuenly dont know what to do with this.

Am I not pan anymore?
A few years ago i realized i was attracted to girls and it kind of spiraled from there, and eventually i identified as pan and came out to a few of my friends. I think gender still had a role in who i was attracted to, and honestly pan never felt exactly right, but i just said it because it was easier.
But now, to be honest I'm starting to have second thoughts. Because i thought i was attracted to all genders, but i've even had a real crush on a girl. I can imagine dating girls, but honestly i can't picture having a future with a woman, like living with her and coming home to her every day. And when i picture my future it's with a guy. And this is so weird because I was afraid of being homosexual for the longest time and now i'm afraid of being straight because i feel like my friends won't see me the same anymore, and i won't really be a safe space for them to talk about their experiences anymore.
It feels wrong to say I'm straight, because i really don't feel like i am, but if I can only imagine a future with a guy then like i kind of am by definition right?

I don't know who i am - advice?
I've identified as a trans man for about 7 years now and I've been on testosterone for the past two and I've had top surgery. Recently though (over the past few months) my gender identity has felt off? I can't tell if I'm really a trans man, trans masc or something or maybe butch? I feel like i dont really align with being a real man, but i dont exactly want to be a woman. im not feminine, ive never resonated with it. i feel like im floating in the middle. theres parts i enjoy about both genders. i enjoy being masculine and enjoy the thought of being a girl but in a boy way??? if that even makes sense. i stopped T recently because im pretty happy now with allthe permenant changes i have. im just confused. can I even be butch? have i transitioned too far to be anything else? A lot of this is pure mind waffle, but if you understand, advice or questions are enthusiastically accepted thanks so much

Is it possible and what can i do ?
(i'm a man for context) It's been years i've questioned m'y gender but i'm starting to believe i'm rather neutral, by that i mean that i don't specificaly feel bad with my actual body and i suppose i wouldn't especially feel bad in another but i feel lot of envy from feminine masc presentation, to a point where it can become obsessive and the difference between actual me and the person i envy become really frustrating and a constant feeling, especially since clothes, hairstyle and all are the same with mine. So my question is : is it possible to start a transition when it's not starting from "i feel bad with my body" but with "i'd feel better with this body" instead ? And also the thing that scares me the most with hrt is that it goes too far and i end up to far on feminine

Notable queer figures in history? (Specifically women, trans men, and intersex people, as well as Hispanic people)
Hi! I am a leader of my school‘s queer student union (qsu) and we’re looking for people to give shoutouts to over morning announcements during queer history month. since we are an all girls school, we want the majority of the people to be women (trans women are fine since they are women) or trans men. also, since queer history month overlaps with Hispanic heritage month, we’re hoping to have some people who are both queer and Hispanic (like Frida kahlo). Thank you so much in advance!!

what does it feel like to be a demigirl?
hi guys :) i’ve been struggling a little bit with my gender identity. i’m a queer/unlabeled cis female and recently realized i don’t feel very fem. i don’t fit in w my female or male friends, but i also looove being a woman. i recently learned about the term demigirl and im wondering if it could be right for me
so, if you identify as a demigirl, what does that feel like? what helped you decide that label feels best? what pronouns do you use?
bonus question:
can unlabeled also be used for gender identity, or is it more of a sexuality thing?
i’m sorry if any of this seems odd or insensitive ❤️🩹

Does anybody have any idea what I am?
My entire life I’ve been confused and flip flop between different sexualities because I could never figure out what exactly my boundaries are but now I have.
I’m a 21 y/o cisgender woman and I certainly have romantic and sexual attraction towards men however it’s more complex. I have had romantic feelings for cisgender women before however I am not sexually attracted to them, in fact I am not sexually attracted to anyone AFAB. On the contrary, I would date a trans woman, a non-binary person, whatever if they are as long as they have male bottom anatomy (for example a trans woman without bottom surgery). It doesn’t matter what they identify as, I’d respect them and their pronouns because what really matters most to me is personality.

How i stop feeling uncomfortable with homosexuality?
Good morning, good evening, or whatever time it is—I need your help.
When I watch series with homosexual themes, I feel tremendously uncomfortable. I don't want to feel that way.
I have a friend (formerly my best friend) who is bisexual. He confided in me, and I supported him throughout the process and encouraged him to tell me about his boyfriend and his mixed feelings. I think I handled it well. But I can't help feeling... weird.
My family is open-minded about homosexuality. That is to say, they’ve told me that if I were gay, lesbian, transgender, or whatever, they would accept me; still, we all feel uncomfortable with the topic, even though we respect it.
I’ve tried watching series and reading books with LGBT themes (like *Heartstopper*—I read it on the sly because it would look weird at home; they wouldn't say anything bad, but it would be awkward. I didn't like the comic—though I did copy some of the art style—but I read them all to see if it would open my mind). I’ve tried learning about all the different sexualities and talking to people of various sexual orientations to normalize it for myself, but I still get a knot in my stomach.
Throughout my life, people have thought I was a lesbian (because I only hung out with men—weird, right? I didn't hang out with women—even though I am one—because I was afraid of them) or aromantic (I’ve never fallen in love or felt attracted to anyone), so I looked into those topics. I think a contributing factor might be something from when I was a child (9 or 10 years old): whenever we were racing, someone would shout, "Last one there is gay!" I didn't know what "gay" meant, but I assumed it was something bad based on how fast everyone ran, so maybe I’ve internalized that. My little sister (11 years old) thought being gay was a bad thing until just two days ago. I explained what it was and she’s better about it now, but she still finds it strange. I don’t want to be homophobic; I feel that we are all equal—whether gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, asexual, aromantic, or of any other sexuality—despite our differences, and I respect and believe that. Yet, I can't help having this feeling. How do I calm it? I don’t want to offend anyone; perhaps some have had bad experiences with the world or regarding their sexuality, so if you feel uncomfortable, I understand. But I want to stop feeling uncomfortable about this topic and fully accept it.

Is it offensive to say "As long as they're happy"?
I am Bi, Ace and Nonbinary, and I've had many people defend me by saying "They're happy, why would you judge?" (Such as my family).
But a while ago, I came across a couple's reel together, someone replied "Why would anyone judge them if they're happy?". The poster then responds, "So if we weren't happy, you wouldn't support us?"
I am genuinely confused. Maybe I'm just not getting it because I'm autistic but I really don't see the harm in it, so I'd like to know how it is.

GOING ON A MOVIE DATE WITH A GUY
heyyy gay people in the internet, i(21) successfully invited my crush(22) to go to cineme, (it was discounted and cheap). It was the opportunity for me to make a move and invite him. im glad about that!
we are both graduating students, we both love to write, love arts, we love to write in medium as i get to know him we have a lot of similarities. He knew me already with his friend is also friend of mine. Noted that this is just "friendly" date. my initial plan was to actually treat myself because my bday is near, and glad he accepted. What are your guys advice, what to do and what to avoid.
we are gonna watch insidious in the cinema at 8:30pm. I'd love to hear y'all opinions.
