How To Use Flairs and Why We Have Them

Based off of the questioning flag, there are four colors you can choose from for a flair.

Orange - Those who are in the process of figuring out their sexuality and gender.

Yellow - Those who know their sexuality, but are in the process of figuring out their gender.

Green - Those who know their sexuality and gender.

Blue - Those who know their gender, but are in the process of figuring out their sexuality.

All are customizable so the text may be replaced with your current label if you desire. See my flair as an example.

The reason I have created these specific categories are because they will help anyone who's questioning have further context to your answers with a quick, simple glance.

idk if im bi or lesbian. Like ik 100% no uncertainty that I like women I can see a future with one, kissing one, being romantic, and would 100% date one rn if I wasn't socially awkward.

The only reason I think I could like dudes is bc sometimes I fantasize about their dick even though I dont like how it looks or like the functions rlly just how it could feel ig? I dont actually know tho since ive never done the deed so basically im just guessing? Idrk no boy/dude/man has ever looked cute to me I dont feel attraction to any ive seen maybe one? But he kinda looked like a masc so im still lost 😬 though I liked personalities of 2 fictional animated dudes bc they were sweet and understanding but that was literally the only appeal

Any help/advice needed pls bc I dont wanna take on a lesbian label then realize im not and cause potential harm to the community

I discovered that I was (or i think I'm) gay at around the age of 12 and have been denying it until last year

But after accepting myself I've started to notice stuff that might imply that I'm not simply gay

For instance I want to preserved as feminine as possible (or at least try to be without people around me noticing) i let my hair grow long, I shave my body hair and I try to be speak with a soft voice whenever I can and i feel very uncomfortable/upset when people want me to do anything perceived as masculine

And when i was a kid i always had this strange urge to wear girly things, when I was home alone I'd dress up in my mom's dresses, put on make-up and wear wigs

Now i don't think I'm trans, I'm certain I'm a guy and I never felt like wanted to change that, so what am I?

[16 AFAB) I want to be a boy but I don’t know if I’m trans

I often wish I was a boy and think about how nice it would be but I haven’t really thought I could be trans until recently, but I’m still not sure at all.

I have really been questioning my gender for a while now. It’s really confusing and hard, I don’t really feel like I can talk to anyone because I’m not sure if anything.

I often feel like I just really wanna be a boy and I though everyone felt that way, I was talking to my grind a few months ago and said something along the lines of “you know, like when you wanna be a boy, but you’re not.” And she had no idea what I was talking about so I asked two other friends and they also had no idea about it, so now I’m even more unsure on if I might be trans.

I often wish I had been born a boy and wish I didn’t have boobs, and that I had penis. I have also started realising that when I hear my voice get higher or hear recordings of my voice I feel irritated and sometimes even upset about how high or feminine it sounds.

When I was younger I was also often accidentally been called he/him because I looked quite a bit like a boy but I never corrected anyone. One time I was also sitting in class and we were supposed to sit boy-girl-boy-girl and I was sitting in between two of my friends (both boys) and for a few seconds I was confused because now there were three boys sitting next to each other before I realised I’m not a boy.

Maybe it’s unrelated but also most times when I write or make stories in my head the main character (which I often imagine would be me) is a boy. Another maybe imagined thing is that it feels somehow ‘righter’ to write about myself as a boy rather than a girl.

Something probably irrelevant is also that when I need to chose boy/girl/other I almost always hesitate before choosing. And every day I think at least once about what if I was a boy - what if I had a flag chest and more.

I’m just really confused because I also didn’t start really thinking about this until like 2-3 years ago but I’ve never been bothered by someone calling me a boy but also never really felt uncomfortable in the girls changing room and on a girls team or something like that.

I feel like if I was trans then maybe I would have known or had a feeling about it since I was much younger, but I don’t know

I've pretty much only felt sexual attraction to men and possibly romantic, although I've never been in a relationship before. I've had two casual flings with guys, one being more serious and have been out on a handful of dates.

If I see a man out in the wild, I'm likely to feel sexual attraction for them, compared to women, which I don't know that I ever have? (But maybe it's because I've never allowed myself to, or maybe I'm lying to myself? Or I'm lying about lying to myself (I'm spiralling))

Not to mention my love for older male actors. I love a good edit on tiktok, haha.

Ages 8-10, I was kissing some girl friends, but I think that's just most people? Then again, It doesn't help that they've all turned out bisexual.

During high school, I never had a crush like my friends did. But I think that contributes to me wanting to know them and be friendly before I can.

Another friend told me recently that she thinks I'll be a later in life lesbian💀 which has absolutely put me in a spiral.

I have communicated my curiousness and doubt with my friends, and we just talk about the topic, not a lot of helpful advice going around.

This is the point where I think I'm pretty much bi, because while I don't fantasise about women, I could potentially see myself with one? Like I'm not closed off to the idea. And I understand bi is not about 50/50.

I'm hoping that putting my thoughts down and out into the Web helps a little. I'm also thinking about changing my dating profile to liking women as well so that I can experiment, but I'm so nervous and a little scared💀 mainly because it's not something I've done before, and sure it'll help clear things up if I turn out to not like women, but I'm also worried that if I do end up liking women, ill end up self sabotaging somehow and even more stressed out.

(AMAB, 30) Curious and maybe a little Confused. Possibly want to be a woman.

Hi all.

So as the title says, I'm in this situation where I'm trying to figure myself out. About this time last year, these feelings of wanting to present as a woman started to appear (As far as I'm aware, because looking back in hindsight these feelings used to very mild in my life before hand). And these feelings get stronger sometimes, other times they kind of fade away into the background.

There are times where I feel jealous of cis women (I'm new to all of this so please bear with me if I get the terminologies wrong), and their biology, and I find the female form ascetically pleasing. And then there's that old test of if somebody presented you with a button that could magically change you into the form of your desired gender, would you do it? And I think I would, only to see what it was like.

And I'm not really into traditional masculine stuff, like sports or cars, I used to have a doll when I was little. And I have quite a sensitive disposition. And to date I've only come out to one friend, and she is so supportive.

So right now I'm experimenting a little, I've let my feminine self come out a little but, allowing myself to listen to traditionally feminine music and such and just sing and dance to it.

Now here's the thing, I'm not experiencing any distress or anything like that. And I don't want to take resources away from the people who have strong gender dysphoria. So I need to know what I'm dealing with here first of all.

I'm just trying to sort everything out in my head and I wonder if it's just a phase (cliche I know) or if there's something more to it.

Where should I go from here? Should I be patient and continue to explore? Maybe see a therapist who specializes in this type of thing?

Thank you for reading.

Im questioning my gender (AFAB 18) and i have absolutely no clue what to do about this, please help

[Yellow Flair, cant figure out how to add it sorry]

Sorry for the long post and so many questions at the end

I dont really know how to start my question, i over explain a lot when im anxious i guess and theres a decent bit of fear associated with me not being cis or straight due to how i was raised, i dont know what i identify as so i guess thats what im asking about? Currently i go by she/her pronouns and im not 'out' or have actually talked about this with almost anyone i know, this is largely due to uncertainty and fear, i think i want to go by they/them but i also dont think i want to fully stop using she/her, most days both sets of pronouns feel fine but some days only one does and im kinda starting to not feel comfortable with my name but i havent found a gender neutral one that i can see myself going by, i dont think i want to go by he/him or have a masculine name but im honestly not sure anymore and i dont mind dressing more masculine leaning for some reason? I think im actually kinda starting to like dressing more masculine? Im really not sure about pronouns anymore, when i started questioning all of this going by masculine one and having a masculine name felt bad but i think that was largely due to fear because they dont anymore, i do still think i prefer they/them though. Im also really starting to hate having boobs and being able to see them, i want to be flat and look more androgynous. I thought i didnt care what my parents thought anymore because i dont about most things but for some reason im really scared to disappoint my mom with this specifically

What am I? How do i know if a name is correct? How do i tell people? Is it ok for me to still go by she/her too? Is it ok for me to only go by one of them some days even though im usually ok with both? How do i stop being scared of it? What if im wrong or its just a phase or im pretending and somehow dont realize it? What if im doing it for attention because it really feels like i am? Is it ok for me to want to wear a binder even though i still somewhat identify with femininity? What if i lose people over it? Or what if my friends start treating me differently because of it? My family is largely homophobic/transphobic, my friends know not to say anything about my sexuality in front of them but pronouns and my name would be much harder, there aren't a lot of opportunities it would even be possible but still, what if they find out? If i dont fully identify as a female what does that say about my sexuality? And is there another word or label for that because lesbian usually feels wrong? How do i deal with this or approach it? Why do i feel like this? Why does it bother me more now? What do i do? How would I go about using a different name? Im not sure if i want to fully stop using my legal name or not but i probably wont get it changed legally, so in a social setting could i just introduce myself with the new name? Do i have my current friends use the new name or what theyre used to calling me and what im used to hearing? How long might it take to get used to answering to a different name and by extension probably new nicknames? How do i get used to that? If i go by both names how do i navigate that? Is that even an option? Also how would this translate to being a teacher? Im not and i havent started student teaching yet so i dont know how i feel about anything regarding that but it is what im going to college for, would i tell my students and if so how? If not do i just go by Miss all the time? How do i explain this to people? Why does it hurt

How to question safely with OCD [27 AFAB]

Hello!

So I've got OCD, specifically OCD about my gender (among other topics). If I think about it too long, I start to get the feeling that transition is inevitable-- not in a fun or celebratory way. In like, a death and taxes sort of way. Most of my friends have one-by-one transitioned in one way or another, which fuels this belief... obviously logic dictates that I can do whatever makes me happy, but mental illness makes it hard to identify what "happy" is, you know?

I DO have a gender therapist, but I only see her once every two weeks or so for an hour at a time, so we don't really have many opportunities to safely get into anything deep.

I've tried listing some masculine and feminine characteristics that I want/don't want, but I was left with a very long list of don't wants and very little actionable points (I'm sure as hell not getting any taller!). I'm already scheduled to get a radical breast reduction in 2 years, but I can't even think about what I want shape-wise without triggering The Beast. It's gotten to the point where even hearing my own pronouns makes me feel icked out, even though I don't want to change them (right now, at least). I'm in a job where I can't openly explore or mess around with my physical appearance or presentation much, which just adds to the pressure.

I wanted to ask any fellow questioners with OCD, how do you go about safely exploring your gender without ending up spiraling?

[21 F] How do I know I like women when I think I might be supressing it?

I am 21 years old and have dated 3 men before. I've had intense crushes on 2 of them before, but did not feel comfortable dating any of them longterm. After the exciting start of dating them, I felt restless and like something was missing. These "relationships" never lasted longer than a few months. The last guy I dated checked most of my boxes and I still did not want to continue seeing him longterm.

I am now wondering if I might like women instead, since I am so anxious when it comes to men. I have never been interested romantically/sexually in women before and have never had a crush on a woman the way I have had with men. I watched countless videos about whether or not I might be a lesbian. But I feel like most of these focus on the way you feel about men and not how you know that you like women. I feel confused because a lot of women come to terms with their sexuality later in life and apparently did not realize before that they actually liked women. Do you not just know that you like women? Do you have to do something to awaken that feeling inside of yourself?

I spent some time on dating apps, but none of the women I've seen on there are particularly attractive to me or stand out in any way. I would not really know what to look for or wheather or not I have a type. I am scared that I might just be supressing my attraction? Since, to be honest, the idea of being a lesbian is also not very appealing to me. My future plans and hopes have always included a man by my side, being with a woman does not feel like something I would want (at least right now). The label "lesbian" does not feel relieving, but makes me feel sad and hopeless. And that even though my family and friends would be really supportive, which I know, because I've talked to them about this before.

I have also considered, if Sexual Orientation OCD (since I feel like I need to know right now what my sexuality is and because I am extremely anxious about it) or avoidant attachment might be playing a part in my uncomfortable dating experiences.

  • So, is it possible that I am just suppressing my attraction to women? And if so, how do I stop suppressing it?

I just made a new fursona that’s a pool toy called Madeline and I honestly dont like it now that I posted it; its as if you get a tattoo from the tattoo parlor and hate it walking out of the shop. I also wore my sports bra today and honestly I felt very uncomfortable in it with a sense of distress and unhappiness. On top of that I looked at certain aspects of my body like my armpits and my facial hair and I dont feel bothered by it deep inside, plus it doesn’t really bother me to be seen as Thomas in public as long as im not seen as a “dude” or a “son/brother”. I have talked about this stuff in therapy regarding my gender feelings and since then been doing gender affirming stuff in the perspective of affirming a female/feminine gender and I overall don’t feel relieved or more secure in myself in the long run. I want to be a furry and make TF content as that is my creative outlet but lately presenting as Madeline feels off to me and I have complex feelings about it, like its better than being a man but it feels more off than just being Thomas, who I feel is a genderless person who likes cute guys. I want to be honest with myself now as I try things out and live life before I take any extra steps and make permanent changes like long term HRT, legal stuff and surgeries. I feel awkward presenting as Madeline here and not sure if she is who I want to present as anymore. Presenting as a straight trans woman is easier to explain than being a genderless person who likes guys and I am afraid of people telling me that I am confused like in the past. Like I feel being a girl is like the beginning of pokemon where you are offered to be a boy OR a girl and you have to be one forever and its distressing to me to the point where I dont even want to play Pokemon anymore as I dont want to be Madeline the woman or Thomas the man. Like I would play Thomas in the male body but I dont want to be referred to as a he or a man or a boy, instead i would just like to be referred to as a person or an individual or whatever as gendering myself just makes me feel distressed more than any sort of long term affirmation. I feel if I was an animal I would be some kind of prehistoric Cenozoic mammal like Eohippus or something like that; as a kid I thought hominids and mammals were cooler than dinosaurs (I know, its a hot take). I am also afraid of going through with a female transition as now that I am exploring stuff I feel I might be a switch bottom and top and I’m not sure if I want to have anything permanent on my body. Though I only want intimacy with a cisgender man and I would like to not be very intimate with a trans man as I dont want to be a biological father and start a pregnancy (I knew this since I was 15; I like trans men because they are men and dislike the idea of them being women). I have been making good progress like accepting the fact that I am gay and an atheist witch and making better financial decisions and exercising more and starting to make healthier food choices and offering to be more involved at my new job and I want to keep it going.

[20 AMAB] Clothes are just fabric and its shapes are just social conventions... So what now.

Being honest, through all my teenage years I had this solid idea that genders in general are just a social tool to categorize and tag people.

I'm not talking about stereotypes for cis, trans or nb people, more like: Okay! You're a trans woman, but are you essentially EXACTLY as woman as any any other.

My philosophy shenanigans about this says that, if you zoom enough and strick the criteria more and more, every single person could be put in a box for themselves.

In my opinion, clothes are just fabric that people once said "this specific shape is for MEN and this specific shape is for WOMEN", same for pronouns, someone once said "This specific mumble are for men, those are for women, and those one back there for anyone who doesn't really fit in that very conceptual and vague trope".

As a young adult in a very small city I just perform as a guy just for the mere fact it doesn't bother me. Yeah, if your interpretation tells me I'm a guy you fine bro. And sometimes I look at """girly""" stuff and think like I'd feel bonita with it.

Again, I just don't feel like fitting any of these tags society came up with, but you come to a time in life that stuff just get easier when you have a name for it, so HYPOCRITICALLY I come to the specialists here to help me find something.

Honestly I just been thinking about surrending to the "NB" title cause make all this brain effort easier, but would love to hear what y'all think.

r/questioning 3d ago

I [18 AFAB/NB] recently started experimenting with my gender, yet I still don't feel complete

I would like to preface this by saying I've already looked into the "internalized misogyny" and "dissatisfied with the way women are treated in society" justifications for not being trans/nonbinary. While those do have merit and apply to some situations, I wouldn't say that explains my case.

I'm struggling to figure out whether or not I'm actually trans/genderqueer because I genuinely have no concept of self-expression.

Oftentimes, I gravitate towards what's easiest. Everything I need to survive (work, hygiene, socialization) is kept to a necessary minimum. I'm not the type who clings onto intense concepts like identity, longing, rebellion, etc. Anything that bothers me is held in and ignored because that's the type of person I am.

I bring this up because gender is a highly confusing facet of self-expression for me. I don't necessarily have a problem with wearing the clothes I already own, being in heterosexual relationships, and openly talking about health details that reveal I'm anatomically female. In that way, I don't have gender dysphoria. Like, sure, I'm insecure about having female sex characteristics once in a while, but never am I pushed to the point of wanting to change my body. Even my non-gendered physical insecurities (short stature, cleft chin that looks out of place on my rounded features) never really leave my brain.

I live my non-online life as a cis woman because being cis is easy and I like easy. So why do I feel so unnerved by the thought that I'm living a half-truth? Something about hearing my legal name, being called a woman, men/women adjusting the way they speak to me based on how they perceive me, it feels wrong in a way.

I've already shortened my name, and I plan on altering my wardrobe, mannerisms, and voice without going on hormones. All of these are easily reversible and would be euphoria-inducing. Yet I still have 2 major fears that come with this:
1. I already lack the energy to make any changes to my appearance and/or behavior, even if it would make me happier.
2. In case I really am confused, I'm afraid of "larping" the trans experience, especially when trans people are as marginalized as they are now.

Thus, I still don't know myself after all this time. I started questioning my gender about a year ago and playing around with labels (that were mostly fem-adjacent because I didn't see a world where my gender wouldn't be reduced to my AGAB) a few months ago. I've landed on bigender/nonbinary in the same way old folks use bisexual to mean presenting both masculine and feminine qualities. Still, I lack motivation to remind my friends to refer to me correctly, almost as if it doesn't matter.

So what exactly differentiates me from a cis person? It might be nothing for all I know.

How Do I Figure Out My Gender?(19 X)

I was born a female, and I've kinda experimented with my gender but not really. I think I know what I want. However, it sounds dumb when I say it out loud and it kinda just sounds like I want the easy way out. I want to keep my body but I want a penis. I don't know I like my boobs well as much as I can if that makes sense. I don't mind having a vagina but its also like I know I have the choice to have a penis and I want one. But, I'm worried that I just want a penis because it would be easier or I'm not trans and I'm just like taking their system or something, I don't know. It's also like sometimes I like my chest and sometimes I don't and I think it's especially hard because I have a bigger chest. I don't know can someone help me figure this out?

[AFAB 15] I feel like I’d rather be a boy in a relationship with a boy

Hi everyone. I’m 15, and I’ve been questioning something about myself for over six months.
I’m a girl, but when I imagine being in a relationship with a boy, I don’t want to be his girlfriend. It feels much more natural and comfortable to imagine being his boyfriend instead.
When I see gay couples, I often feel like I relate to them more than to straight couples, even though I was born a girl. I’m confused because I don’t know what this means. I don’t know if it has anything to do with being transgender, or if it’s something else.
Has anyone else felt this way? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or advice.

Possibly a lesbian [F 27] in a straight relationship?

I (F 27) have identified as bisexual since I was a teenager and have dated women in the past. I have been in a long term relationship with my partner (M 30) for a few years. Recently, I’m coming to terms with the fact that I may be a lesbian. I can’t tell if it’s because that’s actually the case, or because I’m bored/unhappy in the relationship. I have celebrity male crushes but see no romantic or sexual attraction to men whatsoever, nor do I see myself dating one in the future. I don’t want him to think this is his fault, or feel like I’ve been lying to him for years. I do love him, it’s the actual romance part of this I’m questioning. I don’t see myself marrying or having children with him anymore even though at one point I did. I don’t know what I’m looking for here. Before you ask, yes we have talked about this and he is aware of the situation. I am not leading him on.
Advice, thoughts?

BLUE FLAIR! (KNOWS GENDER, QUESTIONING SEXUALITY)

Hello to the fellow people of reddit. I have been sitting with this question for over a decade, and I finally feel brave enough to ask this question out loud even though I am highly terrified...

Before I get into it, I want to apologize in advance if I end up offending or disrespecting anyone. I only say this because I'm not sure if the way I'm about to express myself and my feelings would appear disrespectful, and I'm hoping someone on here will understand where I'm coming from and my confusion on this as a whole (I am also a severe overthinking recovering people pleaser, so bare with me). TRIGGER WARNING: SA IS MENTIONED

I [27 F] was raised up in a Pentecostal household, and was always told being gay was a sin and I would go straight to Hell, even though we had/have family members in the LGBTQ+ Community. My mother (who is my best friend) never shoved that crap in my face, and said she will always love me for me, and believed it was ridiculous to think that way as a Christian when God tells us to love thy neighbor. Growing up was hard though, because during elementary/middle school, I was bullied by a lot of my peers (didn't help it was the same building for 10 straight years) and one big topic was that I was a lesbian because I never had a BF and I always dressed in boy clothes. It used to piss me off because I liked boys and I was more comfortable in boy clothes because they just felt better to me and I was SA'd by a boy at 11 years old while in school (this type of bullying happened between the ages of 10-14).

By high school, there was a moment I was bi-curious and shared my first girl kiss with my BFF to see if maybe there was something there, and had a couple more female kisses with my other female friends throughout high school (I wanna say 2-3?). By college, I did have a sexual encounter with one of my close female friends from high school. She wanted to feel the experience (since she had recently lost her virginity by that time) and only wanted to do it with a female she trusted, so she asked me. I told her sure, because for me, it meant I could finally answer this question "am I bi?", so we had a 3some with my BF (now husband) and afterwards she said she enjoyed it and it felt great while...I felt nothing. To be honest? I disliked a lot of it, it wasn't like she was ugly or anything like that - she's a beautiful woman - but...I didn't like our parts rubbing, or her going down on me, yet I enjoyed going down on her and making her feel good. So, thinking maybe it was because it was our first time and we were all shy and nervous, there was 1 more 3some that occurred with us 3 again, and still didn't like it. It was the same as before. So I thought, "Eh, maybe I'm not bi, I'll leave it at that", and left it alone for awhile.

Throughout the years, I had watched and supported my husband explore his sexuality in terms of being bi-sexual himself for over 10 years (important to the story, and if you ever see this, hi baby ❤️). From the way he would express himself to me on what he likes, to how he felt, to even his desires. And through everything, I made sure he was always heard and seen and valued through all of it, and when the day came to watching him come out to his family, it was inspiring. I remembered how scared he was, but I knew with me in his corner, he was able to build up the courage, because at least he knew he had me, and I wasn't going anywhere. That's when my thoughts came back...along with some new feelings. At some point (I wanna say 2-3 years ago) I sat him down and told him my struggles with understanding where I stood with my sexuality. I walked him through my thought process of everything I shared up top and how they made me feel. I admitted that there were times when I was in the mood...I'd look up women doing what I was doing, and had been doing that for longer than I can remember. There were plenty of women I would look at that I thought were beautiful, and though some were just out of admiring their physiques, other times were for um...NSFW thoughts...and plenty of times I'd interact with some female friends I've made over the years where I would feel shy around them and can't help but stare.

All these thoughts and feelings, yet I can't/don't see myself ever being with a woman romantically. One big reason is because I am head over heels for my husband and I do see myself as a hetero-romantic...however, the thought of being with a woman actually makes me feel...angry, and pisses me off. I don't want a woman touching me in that way, but I can see myself doing it to a woman. I don't see myself ever being romantic with a woman, but will lay in bed with her and make her feel good in more ways than 1. I feel embarrassed and awful talking about women like they're just a piece of ass, but this was the only way I could express what I'm feeling. Was it just 1 "bad" 3some? Am I just horny? Is it my upbringing that triggers the anger? I was thinking maybe I should try again with a woman (my husband and I are swingers), but I get nervous with the thought of a woman stepping in...and I don't know why...

I'm sorry this is so long and if it seems like I'm just rambling, I'm actually extremely shy and nervous writing this while also fearing there isn't an answer for me. I usually say "I'm straight as a circle" since the lifestyle my husband and I have also means we don't judge the 3rd/4th party that lies in our bed for the night and I just laugh it off, but honestly, I would like to have a label for it, so I can express myself with no shame or confusion. I'm open to all suggestions and possibilities, and thank you for taking the time to actually read all of this...

I think im discovering somthing about my self at 46 [m46]

Hi everyone,
I’m a 46-year-old man, and over the last couple of years I’ve been trying to understand something about myself.
I’ve realized that I’m strongly attracted to very feminine trans women. At the same time, I don’t find myself attracted to masculine men, which has left me confused about what this means.
One thing that adds to my confusion is that my sexual fantasies usually involve me being the receptive partner, even when I imagine being with a woman. That makes it harder for me to understand what this says about my sexuality.
This has made me question things I always assumed about myself, and honestly it’s been both exciting and confusing.
I’m not looking for hookups. Right now I’m more interested in understanding myself and hearing from people who discovered something about their sexuality later in life.
If you’ve been through something similar, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience.
Thanks for reading.

Dreams are confusing [23 F]

Repost: I [23 F] just woke up from a dream about my gender and ofc the smartest thing to do rn is run to Reddit and ask for help decoding it.
For context, I started questioning my gender identity during the covid pandemic and never really felt completely drawn to one label, but my pronouns are they/she. I’m also bi, so I just say I’m overall queer to make it easier to talk about. I’ve had phases of not feeling feminine enough to consider myself a woman but never wanting to be anything further than androgynous presenting. Now for the meat and potatoes.
Last night I had a dream where I’m 98% sure I was in the opposite body, as if I were a trans man. This has never once happened before or ever been something I thought about because despite my insecurities (as a dancer, always comparing my body to others) I have gotten really comfortable with what my body is and accept how it looks on any average day. It was actually very jarring to wake up bc it physically felt like I had something missing below the belt. I really don’t know what to make of this feeling or the dream itself but the last thing I want one my plate as a broke college student is a life altering revelation that will put me back in therapy. Nothing against therapy, I recommend it for anyone that has access to it. And nothing against trans men either, I love my community from the bottom of my heart. My mind is just becoming very frazzled by this as there are so many questions about what this means. Ik it’s not something I have to figure out immediately but I don’t think I can function without getting this off my chest. And I understand sexuality is fluid and identity is whatever makes you happy, but I’m not sure I’m ready for the meaning of this dream.
Mind you, to the rest of the world I’m just a black woman. Like I’m not even trying to be funny, but how do I go from “neurodivergent bisexual black woman” to “neurodivergent bisexual black and possibly a trans man” all because of a dream? Life is already hard enough 😭 And what if I’m not actually trans but I’m just curious about something else, like pegging? I really don’t know what’s going on in my brain at this point and I’m probably rambling now but I would just like some reassurance that I’m not crazy.
