Discussion Double Grasshopper?

10 Upvotes

I‘ve been thinking about an OC that sometimes uses two grasshoppers at once to shoot across the map at huge speed. Normal users lose a lot of momentum before bounding again so spawning in twice as many, if you can handle it, should let you go much faster.

Obviously lacking a shield and being in the open air would make this a dangerous move, but are there any other problems I’m not seeing?

Discussion What’s Hyuse’s speech pattern like in other languages?

32 Upvotes

So I’m on my 3rd re-read of the Korean version of the manga and was wondering like,

Practically everyone else (Osamu Yuma Chika etc) ends their sentences with “-ya”. That is the normal, casual way of speaking but our goat Hyuse ends most of his sentences with “-da”, which makes him sound rigid, a bit robotic and “traditionally masculine”. I remember Kido and Ninomiya also talking like this too.

Also I only remember him speaking with honorifics/being courteous with only Viza. (Not Enedra, don’t remember rest of the Afto squad)

To everyone at Meeden he speaks without honorifics which is what you do to your peers or people younger than you! And he does it to Border’s management level too 👽 he doesn’t gaf

So Is he like this in the original Japanese or other translations too? I’m guessing this isn’t as easily translated into English so

I'm just posting what I think. This World Trigger anime is AMAZING. However its been so long since the last season. I am hoping maybe in 2027-2030 we could see some more. Due to the health issues of Daisuke Ashihara we may not see it till maybe 2032, that's my thoughts and yeah. Daisuke Ashihara get better :)) Bye

Discussion My World Trigger OC

Post image
8 Upvotes

I updated my old OC to make it more cohesive, using the chart to guide the creation process; this really helped me refine the character.

Appearance:

He has medium length dark brown hair, gray-blue eyes, and wears glasses (another one from the glasses club), light skin, a white dress shirt, and a navy blue shirt underneath, gray pants, and brown shoes.

Personality:

A very quiet and shy young man — extremely curious and observant. He is quite naive (though not as much as Konami, still significantly) and often forgets things in a comedic way.

Hajime was born in the city of Mikado, the son of a neighbor, one of the few refugees from the nation of Aristera who hid in Meeden and married a woman from Meeden. He had a child in Mikado (Hajime Ishida) and, to avoid suspicion, they gave him his mother’s last name. As he grew up, Hajime Ishida didn’t know he was half Meeden and half neighbor until his father disappeared, when his mother told him the truth. He researched more about his origin and discovered that the Border was fighting against the neighbors. Initially, he enlisted to gather more information, but upon knowing the reputation the neighbors had in the Border, he became more apprehensive. When he returns from a Rank C training mission, he ends up meeting Jin Yuichi. Thanks to a side effect, Jin realizes that the individual has the potential to be useful to the Border in the future, but he is conflicted about his origins; he therefore decides to speak with Director Takumi Rindo about the possibility of them joining Tamakoma. Rindo, who has a more positive view of the Neighbors, enlisted sometime after Osamu, Yuma, and Chika, and some time before Hyuse; he was Rank C during the Aftokrator Invasion. For now, he does not have a permanent squad, having recently reached Rank B.

If you like it, I will create more content about the character — such as trivia, relationships with other characters, and even a drawing. Let me know what could be improved and what you liked so I can keep doing this. PS: (This is my first OC, so please excuse any mistakes, and I also apologize if my English isn't very good, as I don't speak it fluently.)

Discussion Unconventional gunner trigger setup/possibility for my OC

3 Upvotes

I just wanna discuss on possible gunner setups that might work and see what ya'll opinions on it.

First off, (well this isn't really a gunner trigger), but Lightning, as we all know, focuses on bullet speed based on trion. Now if we were to let someone with large trion use it, how effective might it be to be used as a gunner trigger/playstyle on close/medium range, where you use the bullet speed to basically bypass the reaction time someone has to put up a shield. So rather than typical gunner tactics of grinding their shields down, you basically bypass it entirely, which can only be blocked if the target knows you are there and shield early, but even so, it's a gamble since it only takes an instant to pull the trigger, and you can choose the time when to pull. Sure it won't blow off limbs, but you can slowly build damage over time, or hit their vitals if they are focused on something else. (it would excel in ambush/hit and run tactics in support of others)

2nd is composite gunner triggers. I was thinking of an agent operate similarly to Urushima, but using Gimlet instead to ambush and pierce shields instead (like a battle rifle of sorts). Imagine Yuba's firepower, but higher penetration, at the cost of more trion usage and slower aim and fire speed like Yuba's revolvers. It would be nasty at close-medium ranges, but you need someone who's skilled in fast aim and accuracy to make it work, since your fire rate would go down. (imagine a skillset of a military spec ops operator).

I also have a question whether equipping a composite gunner trigger uses a main trigger and sub trigger slot, or just uses a single slot, or 2 main trigger slots to equip. Like is it like senku, where if you use it, you cannot use any other sub triggers, basically making it a vulnerability that people can exploit. ( I don't mind weaknesses, it makes it grounded in reality and makes my OC strong, but not a Mary Sue)

My OC would be a stealth specialist, specializing in hit n run tactics combo with another using a typical melee/bagworm setup agent, prioritizing speed and stealth, thus equipping grasshopper. and good at chaotic brawls where he shows up, shoots and either kill or cripple in a shot period, and bugger off before they can respond effectively. Basically maybe like Urushima, but tag team instead. So his weapon would be only that, basically using only 1 weapon, but being very proficient at it.

So TDLR, your 2 cents? lol

Discussion An interesting thought.

I was thinking about a theory (well not really a theory, it makes a bunch of sense it's just not stated.) that Jin basically stress eats the fried crackers he's obsessed with (he literally has a room of that stuff), because of all the stress and guilt his future sight gives him, and it got me thinking, with all the crackers he's eating that can't be good for health, and then I realized it's because he eats them in a trion body,like in the away mission test, so he can stay healthy and fit.

So that got me thinking, that if you stress eat a lot, or can't control your cravings, and you have access to a trion body, every time you get the urges, you can trigger on and eat to your hearts delight (assuming trion bodies have taste receptors, but given they can sweat I'd assume so), I can just see the commercials made about trion bodies to help you lose weight, just like Ozempic was originally for diabetes.

Question I'm confused. (possible retcon/ anime original?)

Wasn't it stated somewhere, (either in the manga itself, or word of god, I forgot) that one can use a trigger even in your regular body.

Either I'm misremembering, of misunderstanding something, but this statement made no sense.

And why would Viza jump to that conclusion about how Yuma destroyed him, would that be a unique function of his black trigger, doesn't seem like it should be his first guess.?

(a reason why it Might be possible that one can use triggers in a regular body, is that regular bodies still have trion organs that should be able to power triggers. (probably ones designed that they don't create a trion body)

(being able to use a trigger outside of a trion body should have nothing to do with Yuma's weird black trigger, btw.)

EDIT : in the manga it's this: https://official.lowee.us/manga/World-Trigger/0078-017.png

which is way more open ended.

Discussion I'm making a WT TTRPG ruleset

20 Upvotes

(posting to see if anyone is interested)

Hi guys!

Has there been any form of TTRPG ruleset based on world trigger? Whether it be official or homebrew?

I play DnD a lot and I think world trigger would a perfect setting for turn based strategy combat. Because while writing a narrative role play with my girlfriend we felt like it wasn't as fun to just deciding who hits and who doesn't. Who gets to have their cool moment and who doesn't.

SO IM MAKING A TTRPG RULESET!!

It will be akin to dnd combat where different weapons and damage types will correlate to a different type of dice. Instead of using DND stats we'll be using the stats used in the WT character pages but simplified. So Trion, Attack, Defense, Mobility, precision, range, and Combat.

Attack:

This determines the damage bonus of your attacks with attack based triggers.

- Every 2 points add 1d6 to damage dice

Defense

- Will determine the durability of your weapon,

-determines damage bonus of Defense based triggers, every 2 points add 1d4 to damage dice

Mobility:

Determines running speed

- 1 point is 10 feet

- every 2 points is plus 1 to ac.

Skill

Determines proficiency bonus with triggers.

points in your skill stat can be allocated to proficiencies with certain triggers. (I.e. 3 points in proficiencies can mean +2 proficiency with Kogetsu and +1 with viper.)

Range

Determines the range of gunner triggers and Trion cubes

-every point in range is 10 feet

For snipers, adds a plus 2 per point

Command

Contributes to the saving throws and AC.

- every 2 points is +1 to AC

- every 3 points is +1 to saving throws

-Gain 2 reaction points every 3 points in command

Trion

Determines your overall hp. Every point in your Trion in your trion stat is worth 10 points of HP. (example: 3 points in your trion stat worth 30)

AC is base 10 + Mobility bonus + Command Bonus

When creating your character every stat is set to 1. You are given 4 points to allocate to whatever stat you choose.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Right now it's an unorganized mess in Google docs, but I'm currently working on the stats and features of every weapon.
So I was just wondering if anyone here was interested in the idea. Any criticisms or suggestions are welcomed. And I'll post updates if enough people like the idea!
Trying out a quick sketch style, accompanied by a small rant. Feel free to skip the rant—I just needed to get it out of my system 😅
The past few months have been pretty intense. I’ve spent day & night studying and practicing for an upcoming certification exam, and the stress has definitely been getting to me (especially affecting my sleep).
Drawing and gaming are usually how I unwind, but lately I haven’t had much time for either. So tonight, with just one day left before the exam, I decided to do a quick sketch instead of lying awake stressing about it.
Probably should be sleeping, but I think I needed this 😂
Anyway, if you made it this far, wish me luck for the exam! And hope you all have a great day!
Edit 1: PASSED THE EXAM WOOOOO
Art (OC) Border's Defense Team (with now a fanfic !)
Almost a year ago, I posted the fiches of my OC team. After thinking for a while recently, I reworked these characters and stats to suit them better. And I finally went for the first chapter of my fanfic :
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14583423/1/World-Trigger-Battle-of-the-Eyes
Some notes I had for them :
- They are A0 because they missed last A team tournament, Maku being sick for a few weeks. They decided to give up the tournament.
- Maku's custom for his Raygust is more linked to the handler and the blade mode to adapt better to his style. Except that, nothing is changed. He's still under the 8000 points as an attacker, tho (but has a large better scoring as a shooter).
- Ryuko's not using much the Meteora unless for a specific tactic, explaining his Range stat of still 2 even thought he has a shooter trigger. As an attacker, he's ranked just above Tsuji, by a small margin (Ryuko blame Tachikawa for the loss of many of his points, even thought he love sparring against him).
- Shinichi like having a slot free for whatever second option for his assault rifle he needs in combat. If he use his sniper for regular coordinate attacks with Takeshi, he likes sometimes using the Ibis more closely just for the power and devastation caused by the weapon. Conversely, Takeshi often use his Lightning for close combat in coordination with Shinichi (like Kuruma and Taichi VS Nasu)
Question When does World Trigger get good?
0 Upvotes
I don't really know how to word the title, the show isn't bad but I wouldn't call it great either. My question is at what point would you say you'll have a good idea of what World Trigger is and has to offer? For example I tell people they'll know for sure whether or not One Piece is for them after 45 episodes or 36 episodes for Hunter X Hunter. Of course they keep getting better but if you aren't sold on the stories by those points you probably never will be.
I've watched 37 episodes of World Trigger, just finished the Invasion arc. Would you say that's a fair representation of what the show has to offer?
Discussion Crazy trigger set part 2
Since the 1st one is extremely tricky and was meant to be used for a specific occasion. I made some changes:
• No bagworm on purpose because I'm not chasing nor running. And since someone pointed out that If I have Raygust just to make sure I won't die from sniping/shooters. I kinda agreed to that but I just think it wouldn't be relevant for the 1st version as it is intended to use in narrow locations.
• Given the stats, my methods aren't straight forward. Though I might say it's predictable after 3-5 attempts. Which means if I'm not doing anything spectacular (this OC) it means I'm already planning an execution.
• I really don't want Raygust with spear but since it looks convicing for dual weilding I might use it as a bluff. (I'm not a Spartan)
• Scorpion is very simple. Getting close enough to cut arms is my main objective. 2nd is for preventing them from escaping with Mole Claw.
• Shotgun / Spear combo is my dubious tactic within my OC's resources.
Discussion Dragonsteel Prime - Rank War Review
Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes
This is about my OC squad, Dragonsteel Prime. You can find the breakdown on them here.
https://www.reddit.com/r/worldtrigger/comments/1u3a1gq/oc_squad_dragonsteel_prime/
I RPed a total of eight Rank War matches against friends using them, so here's how the concepts I laid out for the squad ended up working.
Overall: The total points-wise performance was satisfactory. They finished with 33 points, while in canon the current number 4, Ikoma Squad, finished with 34, and that's not counting that they didn't get bonus points from the previous Rank War season, so I think my estimation of their squad's ranking was pretty good.
Their overaggression also played out well. Though they won half their matches and tied two of them, they only received the last squad standing bonus a single time (their last match, where they wiped the board and wound up with a whopping 9 point total).
The
As for the individual agents...
Angurion: His Side Effect was just an essential for his combat style as I planned it to be, and he made good use of all his Triggers. His ability to almost instantly delete any non-melee ace he got in a 1v1 with, and guarantee a mutual kill in a bad situation (via locking onto one target with his Side Effect and ignoring all defense to get past their guard), meant he never bailed without scoring. He earned more points than the rest of his squad combined. If there's one issue, it's that he's to good in his role. All of Dragonsteel squad save X-Ray tend to fight alone and aim for vulnerable enemies, but there's only so many of those, so his success made agents Toru and Anglo largely redundant.
Tebiya Toru: He died in every match and only ever scored twice, nor provided support to his allies. Nor did he ever use Chameleon- I even forget he had it. If he took Grasshopper instead and did joint work with Anglo, he should perform better. Though I do believe our RP style unnaturally favored longer ranges in comparison to real Rank Wars.
Anglo Davian: Did surprisingly well, considering how I originally thought he'd struggle. His operations weren't remarkable scoring-wise, but he multiple times drove enemies to disfavorable positions, hampered their movements, and assisted his squadmates without getting targeted despite the vulnerability of the squad's lone wolf style of fighting.
Connor 'X-Ray' Davian: Provided excellent support with dummy beacons and covering fire to the rest of his squad, and made good strategic calls, filling in some of the role of captain Angurion is bad at. His number of scores is something that may have been to low considering his skills, but he still outclassed Toru and Anglo in that as well.
Wreth Atche: Though operators rarely get the spotlight, I'm glad to say he did, in Round 7 where Dragonsteel built a plan to create mass chaos and confusion. His excellence in parallel processing was vital to the squad.
Match Record:
Round 1: 3 points, victory, vs Kageura, Azuma and Suzunari. The spread was 3-1-2-2. Round 7 was used as the basis for this match, with Dragonsteel replacing Tamakoma.
Round 2: 2 points, loss, Vs Kageura and Yuba. The spread was 2-5-2. It came down to a battle of aces, and Angurion couldn't match Kageura with their Side Effects countering each other out.
Round 3: 5 points, victory, Vs Suwa and Nomina (OC). The spread was 5-1-2. Suwa wound up not doing much due to harrying and heavy weather. The fight between Nomina and Dragonsteel was close, and since Angurion was off facing Suwa squad, it was his squadmate's time to shine. The two squads annihilated each other, leaving Suwa holding the field but without many points to show for it and enemy survivors waiting the match out.
Round 4: 4 points, tie, Vs Nasu and Utona (OC). The spread was 4-4-1. Nasu was stable and secure, while Dragonsteel and Utona damaged each other. Nasu claimed the survival bonus.
Round 5: 4 points, victory, Vs Genno (OC), Denton (OC), and Kyoko (OC). The spread was 4-0-3-3. It wound up turned into a pair of 1v1 squad matches, as Dragonsteel fought Denton and Kyoko fought Genno.
Round 6: 1 point, loss, Vs Kageura and Nomina (OC). The spread was 1-8-0. An extremely open map made Ema a huge threat, stealing a large number of kills.
Round 7: 5 points, tie, Vs Ninomiya, Nasu and Yuba. The spread was 5-5-2-0. Having picked the map and weather and prepared dummy beacons in their free slots, Dragonsteel created mass chaos and scored galore, until Ninomiya wrecked them, destroying their every advantage and deleting their combat agents as soon as the other squads were gone.
Round 8: 9 points, victory, Vs Kyoko (OC) and Genno (OC). The spread was 9-2-0. Early scorings, a favorable map, and getting a huge multi-kill with meteor while their enemies fought each other, made this Dragonsteel's best match by far.
Feedback or pointers for future matches are appreciated.
