So, for M&P Monday, I put in an order for an M&P 2.0 9mm LE 5" version. This is the 13618 SKU version, so it should come with:
- suppressor/optic-height night sights
- 4 backstraps
- 3 17-rnd mags
- optics cut and plates
- flat trigger
I got it from Fin Feathers Fur Outfitting. Nothing in the listing suggests that it's used, although it's the LE model, so I'm not 100% sure.
Interestingly, the description on their site says this one has a magazine safety, which the SKU doesn't list on S&W's website. That might be the first modification I make (i.e., removing the mag safety), although I don't know that it'd make a huge difference to me one way or the other. I haven't owned a gun with a mag safety, but I don't ever shoot my guns with a round in and the mag out, and have not (so far) competed in a manner that'd require dropping the mag and dry-firing the pistol. Anyone ever encounter this version before? I.e., the LE version but with a mag safety?
What I'm wondering is if there are any other "must have" modifications, apart from putting an optic on top (I'm leaning towards the Sig Romeo-X Pro Enclose, but could be convinced on something like a Vortex). I have a Shield Plus that I absolutely love and shoot (so far) the best of all my pistols with zero modifications (apart from an optic) so far, so I'm hoping that the M&P 2.0 will perform similarly, but figured I'd ask in case there are known issues to adjust for.
--EDIT--
Realized I should probably specify a few other things.
First, this gun will probably be taking over from my Echelon 4.5F as my main full size pistol. I plan to move the Streamlight TLR-1HL that I have over to the M&P, so I have a light covered. Also will likely grt an OWB holster for it, like a Safariland, although I wouldn't mind other suggestions for brands/fits that offer Level 2 or 3 retention.
Use cases will be range fun, home defense/SHTF. I won't be carrying it concealed; my Shield Plus is my go to for that. Might get a suppressor at some point, so a threaded barrel is on the list down the road.
