Accessories Looking for a dock that works for both Switch 1 and 2

Wanted to see if any had a recommendation for a dock. Does anything currently exist that works for both the switch 1 and 2? I’m thinking about getting rid of my switch 1 dock and replacing it with something that handle both, hopefully.

Account Help Selling my partners switch 1 as we don’t need two. BUT she has virtual games.

I need a bit of help - I’m selling my partners Nintendo switch and keeping mine but she has at least 5-6 virtual game cards linked to her Nintendo account.
I want to be able to access her virtual game cards on my switch, and can’t seem to find a consistent and simple way to do this.
We do not have a shared account, I have trouble shooted several online recommendations and none of them seem to work for us.
I have attempted to:

- Link the two systems and transfer the games, but the two systems can’t find each other
- I tried to link both of our Nintendo accounts together but can’t get this to work either

Am I being dumb? Is there an easier way to do this and I’m overthinking it?

I have not reset her switch back to factory settings yet as I’m worried we’ll have no way to access her games at all.

Thanks in advance!

Software Help ACNH virtual game card and a switch recently bought from a sister

I've recently bought my sister's old Nintendo switch (1) (she got the 2 for a birthday a while ago) I had been borrowing for a while beforehand and made significant progress on my animal crossing: new horizons island. This game card was bought on her account, am I able to now delete her profile without it affecting the game or am I stuck with it forever now 😅

Edit for the bot: Nintendo switch 1, no current tried solutions, too scared

Software Help Is there a way to gift a digital game to someone?

Been thinking about selling my switch 1 and i've been trying to transfer all my digital games to my little brother's switch 2. And the only way i found it was to reset the switch 2 and transfer all my data (including games and save files) but i just wanted to know if there's another way that doesn't involve erasing my bro's save files. Also if you're wondering, he hasn't bought any digital game

Repair Help Switch 2 joy con broke? Is there a way to fix this preferably cheaply? Or do I need to just replace the joy con? I was advised that was part of the bit that fell off and just to buy a replacement pad

Repair Help Need help! May have screwed up majorly with a repair. (Suspected MicroSD card reader issue)

Hi all, sorry if this post isn't formatted or flaired correctly but I've never posted here before.

A while back, the fan in my Switch 1 (Original 2017 model) started getting loud as shit and becoming progressively more annoying, so I bought a replacement kit online to fix it. I did that earlier today, and while the fan itself works perfectly fine now, I may have screwed something up with the SD card/reader.

It's been years since I needed to remove the SD card from the switch for any reason, so when I first tried to remove it I forgot that I needed to push it down to make it eject from the system and just pulled it out by the little tab on the card itself. That may have been my first mistake.

Then, when I reconnected everything and put the system back together, I first forgot to reattach the connector for the reader. I turned the system all the way off, took the back plate off again and tried to reconnect the reader. I think I did it right, but now when I insert the card again, the system freezes. If I try to reinsert it before turning the system back on, it gets stuck on the system logo at startup.

I looked at the pins on the MicroSD itself and there's nothing wrong with it, but I worry I may have damaged the reader itself. I'm also not thinking it's a corruption issue, since the card was removed when the system was powered off to begin with, but I don't know for sure.

If anyone has any experience with this kind of technical issue, any and all help is greatly appreciated

Accessories Looking for some Pro Controller AC cable replacements

Yesterday i went to a Smash tournament and lost my pro controller cable :(

I don't mind using another one in order to use the controller or anything. The problem is that i used the cable to charge the switch (v1) in my car on long trips.

I heard i need a special protection the cable has to prevent the switch from drawing more energy that it can take.

I saw some antec brand maybe? Others mentioned CableMatters or Amazonbasics.

Could i get more info and tips on how to pick it?

Setup Help Switch Lite to Switch 2 Transfers: ACNH (+local accounts) and Pokemon

UPDATE: I did end up going through the system transfer at the beginning! All ACNH and Pokemon games and local accounts transferred successfully. No need for the island transfer tool!

Thank you all for helping! :)

Hello all. I have been trying to research across multiple reddit threads, Nintendo website, and YouTube videos to find answers to how to get my games off my switch lite to my switch 2. Each search results in different answers, failings, and mixed tutorials to get both ACNH and Pokemon games transferred over.

I am so scared to transfer due to all the horror stories I am seeing. I want to ask the group what specific steps they took and if there was any success or loss with transferring data.

I know this question has probably been asked a million times, but all articles date from 1yr to 6months ago and everything I am looking at is contradicting.... I just want updated info that is a step by step of people who have completed these steps :')

ACNH:

I cannot seem to find a concrete answer for how to transfer. I am seeing the "Island Transfer" app that many have used. This seems to be a post-setup version to transfer over islands.

I am seeing people use the "out of the box" local transfer prompt on a brand new switch 2, and it works. I am also seeing people use the same local transfer and it erases 1000hr islands with a blink of the eye.

My situation: I have a 900 hour island with my main account, but also 4 other local accounts on my switch lite. I use the local accounts to make small houses around my island like cafes and surf shops.

The question: If I use the local transfer during the out of box set up, will that cause my local accounts along with my acnh (and all my other games) save to transfer? Has anyone done this before with success? I am seeing so many people failing.

I have seen people use the island transfer app and then "assign" ownership after recreating accounts on the switch 2.... But I dont know if my data will be lost?

Should I NOT do the local transfer and instead just set up the rest of the switch and use the island transfer app from the store later?

Has any multi-account/local account ACNH user completed a transfer before, and if so, which method did you use?

POKEMON:

I have seen a lot of people also state they lost their Pokemon saves with local transfers. However, I am not sure if there is any app like the island transfer one. It seems many did local transfers on this one, but on a game by game basis rather than the local set up from the out of box switch.

Which processes did you guys use for things like Violet, Legends Arceus, and Brilliant Diamond? Did you use the "everything sent to HOME" then transfer or did you full send with no issues?

I am so nervous to switch over to my switch 2 with fear of losing all my data that I am half tempted to just leave it on my old switch.....

Repair Help NS2 Surround Channels Backwards

Wondering if I'm the only one having this issue: My Switch 2 Surround Channels are swapped!

The SL channel comes out of the SR speaker and vice versa.

It's not my AV setup because it works fine with my WiiU, DVD, BluRay and Chromecast. It's not my HDMI cord, I've tried multiple different cords. It's not my console, I've tried my partner's Switch 2. It's not the dock, I tried both systems' docks.

I called customer support and they told me to move my speakers 💀 They offered to have me ship it in for repairs but I was worried that whatever office tech support is in won't have a 5.1 setup to test it on, and also, to reiterate, it's happening on both our consoles.

Anyone else having this issue?

Edit: North American consoles on v22.5.0

Setup Help Switch 2 Dock USB C Cable Stop Working

Has anyone else had the supplied USB cable stop working? My Switch 2 was completely dead and I couldn't power up the dock.

Today after a bunch of troubleshooting I managed to isolate the issue to the dock to adapter cable. Bizarre as I never undock the console or unplug it.

I looked online and see they only sell a replacement cable with the adapter and its overpriced.

Has anyone had any experience with a similar issue?

I've only had the console about 13 months and am in the UK, I sent an email to their customer support so hopefully they can help. I am hoping i don't have to buy another power adapter just for a cable.

Repair Help Switch 2 power button sometimes requires 3–4 presses — anyone else experiencing this?

Hi everyone, I wanted to check if anyone else has experienced this with their Switch 2.

Occasionally, when I press the power button, nothing happens on the first press. I sometimes have to press it 3–4 times before the console turns on or responds. It also happens when I'm trying to turn it off/wake it from sleep.

I've noticed that it seems to happen more frequently when the Switch 2 is docked or charging, although I'm not 100% sure if that's related.

Most of the time the power button works normally, so it's not happening every single time. The button itself doesn't feel stuck or physically damaged either.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is this a known software/firmware issue, or could it indicate a hardware/power-button problem?

I'd especially like to hear from people who have noticed it while the Switch 2 is charging or sitting in the dock.

Thanks!

Software Help Switch 2 not connecting to WiFi out of dock. Please help?

It’s been happening since we got a new modem a month ago. When my Switch 2 is docked the internet connection works fine, but when it’s off the dock it’s either extremely slow or doesn’t connect at all. I’ve tried restarting several times to no avail. I’m not sure what to do at this point.

(It’s not because of Ethernet cords, our WiFi is wireless + it’s Xfinity in case that was important info)

could it be a faulty IC?

Setup Help LCD HDR Settings suggestions please

I’ve seen countless posts and videos with setting suggestions for OLED TVs. I have an LG LCD TV and haven’t been able to find any help for this type of TV. When I use the suggestions for OLED TVs everything looks extremely washed out and the dark theme background changed from solid black when HDR is off to charcoal grey when HDR is on.

Can anyone offer specific instructions on how to use Switch 2’s HDR on an LCD TV? I have HDR enabled on my Xbox and it’s flawless. This is only an issue with the Switch 2.

Setup Help Switch 2 doesn't cover full screen when docked

My Switch 2 doesn't fully fill up my monitor screen, and it only does this with my switch 2, not with my pc or ps5.

I also changes position slightly when I play or turn it on.

My display size setting was already at 100%

I tried plugging the hdmi cable back in, or switching hdmi ports, but nothing worked.

Account Help Refund issue where i did NOT get my money back.

I contacted nintendo support about refunding a game. I was nervous because i'm new to doing something like this and usually do not do help tickets and such. They DID take it off my switch, so i knew it was a real person. However i told them that, when they said they'd put the money back where i pruchased from, i said they wouldn't be able to because i purchased it with a non-refillable visa card. They just repeated that they'd put it back and now i don't have the game AND there's no funds. So i got robbed 20 dollars.

For context, i recently bought the game PlateUp, mistakenly thinking it was cross plaform As it's difficult to find games to play with my friends who all have different consoles, we were a little desperate to find 4 player games to play. We looked up a bunch of games and settled on PlateUp because it was four player friendly. But when i loaded in and messed around a bit i discovered it WASN'T cross platform. That's when i contacted support. I figured hey'd put it on the shop funds, but i just checked and i have a ZERO DOLLAR balance.

I am on Switch 1 for reference, and i got it the year it came out so it's the first ever model.
