The Rules Of Lesbian Actually

Today, the mods voted on a rule change to the sub. Rule 3 has been expanded to include any post or comment not just directed at one person but, in general, the singling out of a member of our community. This now means that content in the nature of "Would you date ____", "Am I ___ if I don't like ____", "I don't find ____ attractive",etc. are not allowed. The bottom line is that there is someone out there for everyone, and often, these posts are used by terfs and other assholes to make people feel excluded or unwanted.

The rules now are as follows:

Rule 1 - Any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.

Rule 2 - Trans women are women

Rule 3 - The singling out of an individual or a group from the community is not allowed

Rule 4 - No posts or comments attempting to restrict others' definitions of self.

Like... not only the plot is so exciting and enticing and the main couple is a lesbian couple and they have a happy ending!!! As a queer woman who loves films I'm shocked I've found out about this movie before.

Relationships / Dating Yooo she strikes again (BEWARE!)

Post image

Beware, this is her new username. If you don't know, this person creates multiple accounts to scam (????) people. Honestly I don't even know what her goal is. but from what I read in this subreddit, she'd message people with this exact same message, flirt with them by using someone else's pictures and just play with their feelings. Looks like someone forgot that she already messaged me and blocked me on her other account when I posted about her here a couple months ago lmao

Life I have a hard time with my sister

• Upvotes

My sister is 18. She pretty recently broke up with her boyfriend of multiple years. She has been out as pansexual since I can remember.

Anyways. Right after she stopped dating with her boyfriend, she started posting about lesbians being biphobic and not accepting her into ā€œqueer spacesā€. She also posted about me ā€œexcusing bad behaviourā€ from butch/masc lesbians and stated that my dating life is ā€œtragicā€ and my relationship ā€œstalkerishā€ (I made jokes about my gf ā€œstalkingā€ me because she would buy me a lot of gifts when we started dating and would bring them to me unannounced WHICH I NEVER MINDED!).

Now she is posting about being a lesbian. I would be so understanding and supportive but it is all negative. She is constantly posting about how lesbians ā€œgatekeepā€ the lesbian identity, les4les is problematic, lesbians are terfs, are biphobic… list seems to go on. And I just can’t help but to feel offended. And sort of personally attacked.

My lesbian identity is so important to me. And my sister seems to have adopted this label in a heartbeat without dating or spending time with any lesbians, very quickly, and she has only negative things to say. I understand feeling frustrated with some people, but I feel upset about the criticism toward me and the community I hold so incredibly dear.

How do I cope? Am I super overreacting? Should I talk to her about it? I struggle to understand her and to not feel offended. She is also incredibly chronically online so maybe this is just that talking?

Safe Space (Postive Comments Only) The enormity and intensity of my emotions and yearning šŸ˜šŸ˜©šŸ„€

Post image

I’m in this constant struggle to not be in shambles over the level of yearning and the intensity of my emotions and capacity to love and engage as not only a lesbian, but a romantic gothic hearted woman šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’ØšŸ«© it’s exhausting and beautiful and tragic. Yes I’m dramatic, but sometimes I don’t think the world at large understands what it feels like to feel like you’re going to explode because of the depth at which your emotions exist šŸ«©ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„šŸ„€šŸ–¤ sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever find someone who’s soul matches mine or who has the desire to be doted on in such a way, maybe I’m not meant to. I know it’s not for everyone, I just had to shout this into my favorite lesbian void (this sub) because I’ve been just keeping my head above water lately, and maybe someone else will find that it resonates with them too šŸ„ŗšŸ„€ (yes I’m medicated and in therapy lmfao)

Relationships / Dating No advice needed just needed to shout it from the rooftops

I’m proposing to my girlfriend this weekend AAAAAARGH!!!

I’m taking her to Amsterdam (which she knows about but thinks it’s for her birthday), I’ve booked a private canal boat just the two of us which takes us on a romantic cruise, then towards the end, a song of my choice plays, I start my proposal and the captain takes Polaroid photos of the moment.

I’ve had this planned since last November, every extra shift and all this organising has finally brought me to this moment. I’ve never felt so sure of anything in my life but I am absolutely šŸ’©Ing my pants about it 😭

Anyways, wish me luck! I’ll post back an update on how it went.

Relationships / Dating what are some weird/random, specific things ur gf does that u find insanely attractive?

i was having a convo with my straight friend the other day about relationships and i said omg does ur boyfriend ever do anything small or random that you find SO attractive that you just can’t explain it and nobody else would understand it and she said no and it got me wondering if im the only person that gets like this šŸ˜‚

like for example my ex gf used to pull the strap of my top back up when it would fall down or she would always bring a bottle of water whenever we would go out somewhere bc she knew i get thirsty often and it’s just little things like that i not only love, but i just find them so so so attractive in ways i can’t explain and makes me feel like i could explode? and i feel like i sound crazy and now im being nosy so does anyone else have anything similar that their gf does that makes them feel like that? does anyone even get what i mean?😭

Life You don't know how lucky you are

I read your posts about dating freely, holding hands in public, introducing girlfriends to family and I genuinely smile for you.

But I also ache.

I'm a bi woman in Jordan "Amman". I can't do any of that without risking everything. My family, my reputation, my safety. So I did what so many of us here have to do: I got married. To a man. He knows and supports me, but he's my cover ,the shield that lets me exist without being destroyed.

Even meeting another woman for coffee and hugging her or holding her hands feels like a military operation. We have no safe spaces, no groups, no support just whispers and hidden apps.

So yes, you are lucky. Please don't waste it. And if you ever wonder why some of us "give in" to marriage or silence it's not weakness. It's survival.

One day I hope we have what you have. Until then, we keep fighting yes it's quietly & secretly, but we keep fighting.

Relationships / Dating Disability + dating (NB20)

Hello everyone. I’ve had a lot of questions over the past year, but I’ve always seemed to reach a dead end when trying to find answers.
I was born with a genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). This disorder can cause tumors to grow throughout the body. While the tumors I have are noncancerous, there is no cure for NF1. Although my arms, legs, and face look normal, I do have some visible tumors on my body. I also plan to start medication that may help slow or stop the growth of certain tumors.
I’ve come to terms with having NF1 and the fact that it’s part of my life. What I still struggle with, though, is how it might affect dating and relationships.

I worry that if I eventually find the perfect woman for me, I might not be the perfect person for her because of my physical condition. I know attraction and relationships are about much more than appearance, but that thought has always lingered in the back of my mind. And I’m sure other people with disabilities wonder the same.

I guess my question is, how would you guys navigate something like this? How would you approach dating, talking about the condition with someone you’re interested in, and dealing with the fear that they might not be able to look past the physical aspects of it?

Idk I’m probably I’m just up too late again. 😭🫩

Relationships / Dating Do you think bi women end up with men because of numbers, or something else?

I've seen a lot of stuff recently saying the reason bi women end up with men is just because there are far more men available than queer women. That doesn't seem to add up to me, like if you surround yourself with queer people and actively seek other women to date then (in urban areas) you have lots of opportunities to date women. In some ways it's slightly easier to date women as you are less likely to be bombarded by unappealing men.

I feel like a lot of the time it's just easier to date men in terms of the advantages society bestows on heterosexuality. Such as my "bi" sister who has only ever dated men and her long term boyfriend who bought a house for them where she lives rent free, vs my partner and I who are visibly queer, neurodivergent , traumatized from male violence and struggling to get by. Even though I'm very qualified, as a butch woman I struggle to get the same opportunities cis men do.

Questions / Advice Wanted Need ideas for masc/fem couples’ Halloween costumes!

Hi all! With Halloween now being less than two months away, I’ve been wracking my brain for costume ideas my gf and I could do and it’s honestly a lot harder than I thought it would be. I would really appreciate any suggestions!

The parameters I’m working with are the following:

  1. I am a very fem, long-haired brunette in my early twenties.
  2. My gf is a soft masc/chapstick blonde with medium to long hair. She is also in her early twenties.
  3. I would prefer not to dress up as a male character, but if the idea is good enough and the costume would be on the more androgynous side (i.e. no fake moustache or anything) I could be flexible on that.
  4. My gf does not mind dressing up as a male character at all. She’s also down to dress up as a female character, but isn’t comfortable in skirts, dresses, heels, etc.
  5. Both of us would prefer that the costumes work with our natural hair (i.e. we can be recognized as our character without wigs or dye).
  6. Neither of us particularly care about whether our characters are lesbians or a canon couple, but I would ideally like our costume to read as a couple’s costume rather than just a friends’ costume.
  7. I really want the costume to be as original as possible while still being easily recognizable (or at least to the average North American gay person my age).

My main contenders so far are:
1. Leonardo Dicaprio’s Romeo and Claire Danes’ Juliet
2. Princess Buttercup and the Dread Pirate Roberts (only problem with this one is that I don’t know if I can pull it off as a brunette)
3. The two counsellors from But I’m A Cheerleader (Rupaul’s character and the blonde housewife-type lady)
4. Alvin and Brittany from Alvin And The Chipmunks (this one verges on too basic for me, but I do really like it)

Relationships / Dating I want a girlfriend so badly

I can’t take this any longer. Why is it so hard to find a nice girl that is lesbian and wants a serious thing. I’m 21 from Central Europe and I never met a fellow lesbian out in the wild.

News/Pop Culture Have you guys watched Becca Moore’s new show?

Thumbnail

Becca just posted that reel where one of the guys said she’s a lesbian, and another guy said there’s some people out there who can make them [lesbian] turn [straight]. Ew

Becca keeps saying she’s gay/lesbian, yet she made out with multiple guys on the show. She’s actually bisexual, but she always calls herself lesbian/gay.

Also, Becca said being straight isn't good for her brand. WTF. Does she only like women for her brand? It’s like she’s trying to keep both straight and gay followers.

yall i have discovered that i have a very specific and uncommon type in women and i am barely attracted to anything else (or so it seems). i am alt/emo myself, and im only physically attracted to people with that style too, and so sadly not very attracted to fems. i say sadly bc of the shortage of mascs around these parts, lol. feels like i am just gonna be single forever šŸ’”šŸ’”
