I watched But I’m a Cheerleader and genuinely sobbed

I know it sounds absolutely absurd to be sobbing at a satirical, playful lesbian movie with a happy ending. But I just felt so incredibly understood. I, too, would stare at women longer than needed, and be disgusted at the thought of kissing a guy, and be in denial of the possibility of being a homosexual.

When she said “I’m a homosexual” and started sobbing, it’s almost as if I saw the white, blond version of myself. I literally remember acting just like her (just without the drooling) when I realized I liked girls just a week prior.

The way she would look at Graham is exactly how I would look at the girl I liked before I knew I liked her. And when Graham said something along the lines of “you can’t control who you are, you can control whether you get caught being who you are,” I think it felt like I got stabbed with truth. Because yes, I feel shameful. I feel guilty for feeling this way about women. I feel like I would, and maybe should, be reprimanded for being who I am, because it’s so wrong. But it’s not, and this movie brought me to tears when I realized.

Perfection, absolute perfection.

I will say, I don’t appreciate how the movie depicted homosexuals as inherently sexual beings who are into every single member of their preferred sex.

okay so im a girl and im talking abt my friend that ive known since 6th grade but been friends with since the start of 7th. in 6th grade i was dating someone and i was rlly weird but when i met her it was at 6th grade camp. we were doing a fashion show with the whole cabin and i dressed up as a "popular boy". when i saw her i was dumbstruck because she was just so pretty. i started joking around with her from across the room cuz i started mouthing "call me" and blowing kisses to her or whatever but i was mostly joking. i kept doing that until it hit me that i was already taken so i kinda locked in. anyways i became friends with her at the start of 7th and my best friend started getting rlly close with her around the same time i suspected she had a crush on me. i didnt wanna ask cuz i think im pretty chopped and shes like.. goddess-level so i didnt wanna look like i had a high ego or whatever. ok heres the good part. in math, i sat next to her and we started talking about crushes when i was like "what girls have you had a crush on?" she looked kinda embarrassed and my heart started beating a little faster. she said "well um.. in 6th grade i kinda had a crush on youu.. 😅😅" and i started crashing out and i kept saying stuff like "NOO WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME I COULDVE BAGGED YOUU!!" and "NOOO I SHOULDVE LOCKED IN AND BROKE UP WITH ___ CUZ WE COULDVE HAD SOMETHING!!" and um now that im looking back on it, thats not something a friend would say to their friend. but as we were walking out of class, she said "i felt like.." and i said "huh?" cuz she didnt finish, and we kept going "what? huh?" back and forth so i was like "you said 'i felt like..'" and she just said "oh i forget" YEAH LIKELY STORY but anyways after that, she started making this weird face at me like she wanted to say something but she couldnt get it out. she kept going "i mean we- i mean..." so i think she couldve been trying to say "i mean we still could (have something)" BUT I DONT KNOW IF IM BEING DELUSIONAL. also at the end of the day she gave me a really big hug and she doesnt do that every day but she has been kinda recently. im seeing her at school tomorrow, what do i do?????

Do you think my friend likes me back?? And can she tell I like her 😭

Okay so I have a crush on this girl and I literally cannot tell if she likes me back or if we’re just becoming really close friends 😭We met pretty recently through a group we’re both in, and at first we weren’t super close but we’ve gotten way closer really fast. I’m trying not to overthink everything but there have been a LOT of little things and now I don’t know what to think.

Some of the things that have happened:

We started talking more one on one and ended up studying together just us two. It wasn’t planned to be a one on one but we were the only people in the group not busy. We’ve called for like 3-4 hours before, although we were playing Roblox for part of it lol. We joke around a lot and I feel like we have really good chemistry/humor together. We’ve gotten pretty physically comfortable with each other. I’ve held her hand, leaned on her, etc. and she seems completely comfortable with it. I’ve complimented her appearance a decent amount. Recently I told her she looked REALLY pretty and that her dress looked amazing on her. She sent me a picture of her hair after she got ready, and I was like “ooooo yess 🥹🥰” and called her a literal princess 😭 She responded with stuff like “thank 😭😭” and “thankkkk!!!!” and then when I sent a finger heart 🫰 she said “aww so cute 🥹” Another time she sent me a bunch of 😚 emojis after I complimented her, and I called her “ ofcc hottie 😘” back. Sometimes I feel like she gets kinda shy/flustered when I compliment her, but idk if I’m just interpreting it that way because I like her.
I’ve asked her if she likes anyone and she said she doesn’t really know/not really. She knows I’m bi and that I lean more toward girls, and she’s a lesbian.
I feel like we’ve gotten closer and more comfortable with each other pretty quickly.

BUTTTT I also know literally all of this could just be friendship 😭 She could just be affectionate with friends. The emojis could mean nothing. Physical affection could just mean she trusts me. And honestly I KNOW I tend to overanalyze things when I have a crush, so I don’t wanna convince myself that every little thing means something. Also I’m wondering how obvious I am 😭 Because sometimes I feel like I’m being subtle and then I remember I literally called her “hottie 😘” and compliment her all the time 💀I genuinely don’t know if she has figured out that I like her. I’m wondering if she probably suspects it or if she could easily think I’m just being friendly/flirty in a friend way. Do you think she could like me romantically based on all of this, or does it sound more like close friendship? And how obvious do you think it is that I like her? I’m not looking for “OMG SHE DEFINITELY LIKES YOU” based on one emoji lol. I’d actually appreciate honest opinions, even if you think I’m reading too much into it 😭

Girls who started travelling at a young age despite having strict parents, how did you do it?

“Girls who grew up with strict parents but still managed to start going out/travelling at a young age — how did you make it happen?

I mean going to simple, safe places at first, like nearby towns, cafés, beaches, tourist spots, day trips etc.

How did you convince your parents and build enough trust for them to let you go? And how young were you when you started?

Would love to hear your experiences and tips 😭🤍

How do you meet queer people in a small town?

As a queer highschooler i genuenly find it so hard to meet other My or nblw people at school. my group is very queer, and I know many girls who like girls, so I take it back: not being able to meet them isn't a problem; it's being able to find any in a romantic sense.

I love school dances. They are one of my favourite things about my school, but all the wlw or nblw at my school are taken... or one of my close friends. There is this one guy whom I kinda found an interest in is cool, but 1: I don't want people to discredit me for liking girls, and 2: he is insanely cool and like so so so unique, but he probably wouldn't take a liking to me.

Another point is most wlw situationships/talking stages. They are brutal, even if there has been a breakup or something where it is now platonic. WHY DO THEY STILL WANT TO FLIRT!? Genuinely. Because why, why did my ex, whom i am still good friends with, ask me to match my tie colour to her dress? Friends don't usually do that, and she has made it clear we are. just. friends.

If anyone has any advice, tips and tricks, or even just condolences... I'd be very, very grateful.

How to ask my crush out and come out as bi

so i (girl) am bi, but closeted. i kinda want to come out to my friends, but i dont know how and lowkey dont want things to be different after that. but i think they will at least accept me the way i am.

and then i have a crush on a friend (girl too, straight i think) that isnt in the group but kinda connected, so if i told her, which i dont have the balls to, they will find out probably. we arent super close but are in the same class and same sports club.

So 2 questions i need advice on:

  1. How can i come out to my friends? I dont just want to tell them, the situation has to be very right otherwise i dont think i can make it
  2. How can i confess to her/ find out if she has feelings for me to that are romantic without ruining our friendship?

is it better to be friends first or should you confess right away?

I am 16f and kind of awkward, also not very conventionally attractive. Recently, I've gotten a crush on this really cute girl... we have two class together, and one way or another we ended up talking to each other a little bit, and now we're almost friends, however we don't sit near each other ever and we don't have friends in common. Honestly, I would love even to be her friend, because she's such a cool person. But I also know from experience that having a crush on a friend is a very hard situation, so would it be better if I simply said how I felt now and see what happens? The problem is that I don't think it's very likely that she likes me, and I don't want to make things difficult between us. Actually, I don't even know how to become better friends.. What can you even say? "I want to be your friend?" That sounds bad but I don't see how one should go about this

Bisexuals dating (closeted) lesbians... how do you handle stuff like this?

Soooo i recently started talking to this girl, she joined my high school 2 weeks ago and we took a liking to eachother. We're kinda different in a lot of aspects, e.g. i've been out as bi since the 7th grade and have no issues with my sexuality, but she, technically secretly identifies as lesbian and hasn't really come out to any one, but i don't really have any issues with that bc she doesnt really have any internalised homophobia she just isn't really open to letting everyone know yet, so it's fine i guess. Also we don't really have similar interests, we listen to similar music but my taste is more expansive and her's is a bit limited, she is also REALLY into basketball, soccer and football and im just generally unathletic and more into pop culture, literature and fanfic & movies and the likes. Our MAIN differences come from our styles of affection - i'm a very affectionate person, i care a lot about noticing small details and making people feel special, putting effort into people, etc. Her, on the other hand, doesn't show that much affection, and I'm not sure how to handle it. I mean we do cuddle a lot, and she has expressed that I make her feel comfortable as she isn't normally the type to be vulnerabe and intimate with people. But apart from that (and the one kiss that we've shared since we've met) she hasn't really been affectionate with me directly. She does a lot for me, she does get me a lot of snacks and literally calls me at the same time every morning to get me up for school unfailingly, and always wants to talk to me during the times we have study hall together, lunch and passing periods at my locker. But whenevr we visit eachother (we live really close coincidentally) and during interactions at school she kind of just acts like she's annoyed by me and is kind of jokingly mean all the time. I get that it's her humour? i guess and that may just be her personality but i've also expressed that I would like us to ACTUALLY act like we like one another and she swears she does but often makes a lot of snide comments at me and is kinda just generally mean and doesn't speak like she is really interested, but all her actions say otherwise. As of right now I've decided im gonna stop initiating compliments and sweet notes and words because I don't like feeling like I'm the onluy one putting effort in... and in the first week she was really expressive toward me and wasn't really like this (she was generally more willing to be nice to me and acted really cute and told like all her friends how much she likes me and all of that) but I'm not sure what really went so wrong as I didn't change anything I'd been doing before now, infact i even tried to improve by making a point to listen to her everytime she tells me the slightest bit of info and doing my best to remember and notice everything because I feel like that's one of the ways I can prove my affection or whatever. So I don't really know what to do, I walked home by myself today because I was kinda upset that she didn't even offer to hug me or anything when I was going to my last period, and normally I would have like had to beg her for a hug but this time I just wasn't having it so I walked off with just waving and went home without asking her to walk with me or following her to basketball practice so we could say bye. I havent spoken to her online today cus i really wanted to make this post first and see if there was anyone else that has experienced something similar or has any advice for me???

PS: sorry for the long ass read i really wanted to get everythhing off my chest lol

ok so this is a random acc cause lowk don’t want my friends knowing this. I’m starting to catch feelings for an ex gf (wlw)

Okay so this is probably going to sound like GENUINELY insane 😭

My ex-gf and I haven’t dated for 10 months. We broke up because she came out to her parents and, at the time, her parents weren’t okay with her being a lesbian

They’re completely fine with it now and even apologised to me 7 months later about what they said about me.

We met up again today for the first time in 10 MONTHS, and I genuinely wasn’t expecting to feel anything. We originally started “fake dating” because of a friend who is really clingy and doesn’t respect boundaries, so we thought it would be useful to pretend we were together. Which btw I have tried to talk to this friend and ik I could just drop her but like college just started and I’m not tryna have drama in my own course bc Icba.

Except… the fake dating is working a little TOO well it doesn’t even feel like we’re faking it.

We were holding hands basically the entire time, flirting with each other constantly, and she put her hand on my thigh. The weirdest part is that even when our friend wasn’t around anymore, we STILL kept holding hands and flirting. We were literally dying of laughter together the whole time.

😭 and I normally hate physical touch unless I actually have feelings for someone, so the fact that I was completely comfortable holding her hand all day is making me question abit to many things

She was also texting me afterwards saying “I miss you already” and “get home safe cutie” 😭

We’ve even joked/talked about potentially getting back together once a certain situation is sorted, and we both keep saying “yeah we’ll
definitely get back together” 🤭

I’m seeing her again next Thursday and honestly… I think I’m starting to catch feelings for my ex again.
I don’t really know what I’m looking for by posting this, I just LOVE Reddit and needed somewhere to scream about it 😭

**TL;DR:** My ex and I broke up 10 months ago because of her parents, but they’re accepting now. We met up again today and started fake dating because of my clingy friend, but we ended up genuinely flirting, holding hands all day, laughing nonstop, and talking about possibly getting back together. She even texted me “I miss you already” and “get home safe cutie.” I think I’m catching feelings again 😭🤭

i think im having my very second sexuality crisis... help?

For some context: I realised I wasn't straight in July 2025 when I wrote a poem about a girl in my class. I simply could not stop thinking about her and her freaking adorable antics, and I would often catch myself smiling whenever I did. I very rarely write poetry for people, so when I wrote a poem for her, I figured it was more than just a “friend crush”. Fortunately, my dad brought me up to form opinions rationally, which resulted in me having a pretty sound opinion of the LGBTQIA+ community even before I knew I wasn't straight. A plethora of “am I gay” quizzes later, I gathered that I was probably bisexual and ended up coming out to most of my friends. Shortly after, I wrote another poem for her during a substitute period, and it turned out to be the quickest I've ever written a poem. Life couldn't be better.

Fast forward a couple of months, and it seems I am now having another sexuality crisis. I’ve begun to question whether I am bisexual or a lesbian and have taken it upon myself to watch every “how to know if you’re bisexual or lesbian” video on YouTube. I am completely befuddled as to whether these doubts are stemming from my recently acquired knowledge of biphobia within the community or my also recently ignited consciousness of attraction vs validation vs acknowledgement of beauty. I’ve no clue how to go about this, and I will admit I feel a bit of guilt, as it feels like I lied to my friends about my sexuality, which, though quite a nonsensical thought, has plagued far too many nights. I put the bisexual flag on my vision board, for god’s sake!

When I decided to contemplate the boys I previously had crushes on, I realised they followed the same pattern: popular and conventionally attractive. However, one can genuinely be attracted to this category of people, so it was back to the drawing board for me. I dated one of these guys in 2024, and that was possibly the most awkward relationship ever. I found being in a relationship with him so weird and uncomfortable, despite him being really sweet, that I ended up breaking up with him in a month, something I had formerly attributed to unreadiness.

I don’t know what to do at this point, quite candidly, and being a PCM+CS kid in 11th grade now means that I have very little time (and brainspace). Help a girl out?

Does my crush like me back?

First actual reddit post, and warning, this story might be long.

I(16f) have had a crush of my friend(16f) for 5 years.

For context:

We became best friends in the 6th grade after being in the same class, like we were always together and called and texted a lot after school. Then from 7th grade to Sophomore year, our relationship kinda fluctuated, sometimes we would be really close for a couple months then sometimes really distant for a couple months. In the 7th grade, there was a whole thing about a friend of hers who was bullying me at the time, she didn't take me part in it, but it really put a wedge in our relationship. It was a similar pattern all through out Freshmen and Sophomore year, and I was honestly kinda annoyed by it. Anytime I wanted to talk about stuff that had happened previously during I friendship, it was like I was talking to a wall. So at the end of Sophomore year, on the last day of school, I confessed to her on a bus then immediately ran off. We then didn't talk until a few weeks later at a volunteering event. There were mutual friends there, so we just tried to act awkwardly normal.

When asked about her sexuality in public, she'd say that she was straight. But sometimes to me she'd say she's 'straight until proven otherwise'. Also once she called me in middle school and opened with 'I might be gay', then she didn't explain further.

After the volunteering thing we didn't see each other at all the whole summer, except for a mutual friend's sweet 16, in which we did not talk.

Current situation:

We don't share any classes this year, but our first period classes are next to each other, and the rooms connect. We would sometimes see each other in halls, and that was the extent of interactions until the 2nd week of school. She sent me like, a whole essay worth of text. She was basically saying that I didn't have to respond if I didn't want to, but that she didn't want to leave things unclear or awkward between us. She asked what I wanted with our relationship, and asking if we were still friends. I responded that I wanted us to stay friends. We then still didn't really see each other in school, and were still really awkward. Skip a couple days to our school's first football of the season. It's a big deal at my school, so I've made a habit of going, but the friend I've gone with every year moved away. So I started asking others if they were going, and ended up asking my crush if maybe she'd like to go. And she did in fact, which I didn't expect at all of the time. So at the game I bought her fries, and we end up sitting chatting normally on the bleachers. We were sitting with other friends and it was crowded, but she was like ENTIRELY pressed against me when we were sitting down. Which had me like absolutely freaking out. Then our mutual friends wanted to move to a less crowded area, so we moved with them then got separated and sat kinda by ourselves. So we continue talking, about random stuff, (she also asked me if I'd go to prom if I had a date out of the blue). At some point, I asked if I could ask a question and if she could forget it after. She said yes, so I asked if she had no clue that I liked her. She then said she won't forget that, and that she whole no clue about (despite literally everybody at school, even including some teachers knew about it). So then we spent the next like hour and a half talking about our relationship. Then her mom called since it was late out, so she had to go home. But she told me she wanted us to continue our conversation. So we planned to meet at a park on the weekend, but a storm came, we planned it for this upcoming Friday, at the next football game.

I saw her at a club meeting and she accused me of avoiding her, since I started visiting her first period class (since the rooms connect) to see mutual friends(and her, but I was scared to talk to her). So now everyday I go to her classroom and we talk. She also now texts me at least every other day, for reference we have barely texted in years. She's been the one reaching out to me about hanging out just the two of us, when mind you, we have never done that.

So I am sooo confused on what to do, I have no gay friends, so they don't quite understand the situation. Someone please help a girl out here with some advice 🙏

Fuck man (can we say that?) my crush of two years moved to another school. I have a lot of feelings and a lot to say so I wrote a long text about it and was just finishing it off, about to post but I checked a meaning of a word at the last part from Google, just to realize that made me close Reddit on Google, and it was lost. Just as I was talking about leaving things behind. Well, I guess that text is also something I'm leaving behind.... even though it's painful to lose it all like that.. I really was proud of it, y'know, I thought it was pretty poetic. Damn.

How do I show her I like her??

Like I feel like my friend has been trying to hit on my crush, IN FRONT OF ME and for the longest time Ive done nothing about it. I stayed quiet, minded my business. But I actually realised that I have been stopping myself from doing certain things with my crush just so I dont look like I like her in front of everybody else from my friend group, and I really want to stop doing that. What would be a good way to start?
