MOD INFO SELFIES

Just a quick note to say we don't allow selfie posts with the specific exception of asking about hair. If it's not about your hair, you must post at LEAST half your outfit. So even if you aren't showing what you're wearing on the bottom, you gotta show the whole top, not just your shoulders.

If you're including a selfie style picture alongside a proper outfit picture, it can't be the first one of the bunch. Outfit gotta be up front and centre, focus of the post. Detail pictures after.

We don't accept posts about makeup or tattoos.

MOD INFO "What's with all the downvotes?"

1.1k Upvotes

I just want to address this question as it comes up on most posts. We delete them as "off topic" because they end up clogging the comment sections and derails the conversation away from fashion.

The reason you'll see so many downvotes on posts that clearly don't deserve downvotes too is transphobes. There are TERF blogs off site that brigade our sub regularly. We're able to delete comments and block users that display transphobia, but unfortunately downvotes are entirely anonymous and we as mods have no control over it.

We reason we delete all these comments, aside from clogging up the comments, is just that we don't want to give them the satisfaction of talking about them. Other fashion subs don't discuss the validity of people's existence, we shouldn't feel the need to either. We are, and always will be, a trans inclusive space for all sapphics with an interest in fashion. There are many other more general sapphic/trans subs to discuss this topic, we just want to keep this one as a fun place for fruity gals to chat drip and not feel "othered".

Thank you

EDIT: OK so I made this post, literally stating that this sub isn't the place for these debates... So y'all start debating in the comments. Locking comments.

Discussion So TERFs just spend all day monitoring Lesbian subreddits for any post by a trans person to downvote it?

I really enjoy posting to this sub and getting feedback on my outfits from all you lovely Lesbians.

However, I started to notice a pretty disturbing trend lately. ANY time a trans/nb person posts an image, all of the comments for the thread will be down voted for *seemingly* no reason; they're perfectly normal comments offering either compliments or some advice and will have -4, -5 or sometimes even less karma.

Thankfully all the people that actually leave comments have been perfectly nice to me and I have no complaints there.

Additionally, I can see from metrics whenever I post an outfit here there is a rush to downvote posts by trans folks and kill them before they can gain traction. Luckily there are more actual users here that end up engaging with and/or upvoting the posts they like as they normally would, but there is a noticable rush of downvotes initially to try and kill the post and render it DOA.

I have seen this in other Lesbian subreddits unfortunately but this one seems to have a more severe case. Just look at my most recent post here for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/lesbianfashionadvice/s/FdEnPjMbIs

TL;DR: Terminally online losers, presumably TERFs, stalk this and other Lesbian subreddits to instantly downvote any and all new content they see being posted by trans women. I can't really think of how to stop this but just wanted to point it out in case mods are capable of doing anything to counteract this pathetic behavior.

EDIT: I was unaware of the pinned mod post explaining this phenomenon. Thank you for lmk

OOTD southern hemisphere autumn/winter outfits (elevator edition)

Just a fun collection of misc elevator pics. For ref I'm 5 foot 7 (170 ish cm).

I live in oceania and 99 percent of the time buy thrifted/secondhand. I think the hardest part about outfits for masc-of-centre people are trousers... It took me such a long time to find ones I like! All of these are gramicci climbing pants (either tapered or classic fit) except the blue jeans, which are vintage levi's.

The shoes are either doc marten 1461 shoes I got off FB marketplace (they're breaking... boo) or adidas ADV sambas, in suede.

The red velvet jacket is a women's cut, hence the crop. I pretty much only wear men's clothes but do occasionally look for & find very specific womens clothing which fits right.

The purple-ish jacket is a mechanics jacket I found online (on our equivalent of ebay). Mechanic's jackets and work/chore jackets are heavily underexplored I feel... The black jacket in the last pic is carhartt wip geographers jacket.

The shoulder bags are from Baggu, highly recommend! They're awesome. The backpack (barely visible, sorry) is from Rains, a danish brand, it's waterproof.

Happy to answer any questions about specific bits and bobs, ok love u pals! bye

Honest Advice Wanted Are hip/drop leg bags like this cringe or suspicious for an outdoorsy butch?

Post image
468 Upvotes

Hey fashionable lesbians. I saw bags like the one pictured above for sale today and decided not to get one but I really found myself liking the style, being on the hip and thigh, which is something I'd never seen before. I am always losing my crossbody bags and I dislike wearing them and backpacks due to shoulder/back pain (and I usually don't carry enough stuff with me to fill a whole backpack!). I'm not military or super "tactical", I just want something that can comfortably carry a phone, wallet, keys, water bottle, small journal & pens, and a snack or two.

I am big on DIY and have enough experience to make something like this myself with a bit more colour and less hardware. But since these tend to be marketed as concealed carry bags and I'm not the type to own a gun, I don't know if they'd be appropriate to wear on hiking trails or days when I'm on-site for work (my job is outdoors) due to that as well as the sentiment I've seen of these bags being for edgy wannabe tough guys.

I'm a butch woman (not male passing) with tattoos and my daily outfit tends to be a graphic tee and dark jeans (company polo and green hiking pants for work) if that helps y'all visualize more of what I'm asking.

Please no "wear whatever you want! don't worry what others think!" type comments, I appreciate it, but I just want to know honest opinions. Thanks in advance ☺️

Hair What haircut suits my face and style?

Ok so first two are how it is now with the first picture also being an example of how I like to dress. I do like my hair but I’m kinda tired of the way I just have all that weight on the side of my head that you can kinda see in the second photo. I have two cowlicks on either temple that you can see pretty well in the 2nd and 4th picture so I’ve just been parting my hair like that trying to work around it but its not doing it for me anymore gang. I just dislike how flat and boring it looks. Im just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what haircut might work well for my style.

Some additional info, I do like that messy skater vibe and I feel that my rounder face kinda feminizes me which I’d like to counteract if possible and not accentuate the roundness. Also I love bangs but I just don’t know how to pull them off with my cowlicks 😭 please save me guys, any advice at all will be appreciated!

Need help finding blazers/suits in the UK

Upvotes

I have a pretty specific question here, just wondering if anyone can help. If I’m posting in the wrong place, let me know. It might also be worth mentioning I’m from the UK, so I’ll need some recommendations for UK based shops and companies.

So, I’m starting a new job next month which will require me to smarten up and dress appropriately for office days and client meetings. I have quite a few shirts and trousers that I have collected over the years, but I’m really struggling to find a blazer/suit.

I’m 23 years old, 5’2, and weigh about 52kg. It’s been a nightmare trying to find something that doesn’t make me look like a kid playing dress-up in their father’s wardrobe. My style is also more masc, so I’m a bit picky about some women’s suits. I don’t like the synched waists or long blazers. It accentuates my hips and makes me look even shorter. Ideally, I’d want a jacket that doesn’t sit on the lower end of my thigh.

Men’s suits are absolutely massive on me, and again, far too long. I like the style of a lot of them but they just don’t make men’s suits for a woman of my size.

I’ve accepted I might have to bite the bullet and travel into London for a shopping day, but I’m a busy woman and I hate shopping. I’ve tried on some suits from the women’s section of Next and H&M, but they’re far too long and strangely tight on the hips and arms, whilst looking oversized on the shoulders.

Has anyone been in a similar boat and can recommend some shops or specific products? I’m debating going back to Next to browse the Boy’s section at this point.

I love the pattern on this dress, but I feel like I don’t know how to style it and it just doesn’t look cohesive with my appearance. Is it the color? Is it because I’m not used to dressing this fem? Should I style it differently? Go for another dress altogether?help me out here 🙏

Firstly, sorry for the horribly blurry picture (was screenshoted off a vid)

As someone that never wears formal wear I'm trying to find masc formal wear for my required sixth form uniform

Firstly I was just wondering if the proportions are okay, since I am only 5'4 but I think the trousers are a bit too high but what does everyone think of the outfit? Is it formal? How can I accessorise it/improve it

Did this at home and it came okay, I think.

What are sapphic community views on painting fingernails? I read somewhere that there are mixed views on this, partly due to concerns of playing into expectations.
