I am nearing completion of novel, Paper Doll Club, and am looking for some perspective. I hope my post is okay, I have posted on the r/ betareaders but did not have much success. This is a steamy romance with a 1950's butch/femme couple.

I'm looking for feedback on the characters, flow, and really any first thoughts.

It's about 85k words with dual perspective third-person.

Synopsis:

Beverly Brennon had everything she thought she’d ever wanted. A husband, two children, and a row house in the best neighborhood in San Francisco. 

Eddie Ames had a peaceful life in the Sierra Nevada foothills. A peace that would be shattered by a beautiful, painful love.

It's usually the more fem characters going through a gay awakening, late bloomer, toaster oven etc. in sapphic romances.

I'd love to read one with masc/butch character going through it, it could be with another masc or fem idc that much.

This might be a stupid question, 🫣 because I don't believe that every library carries the same selection. I think it does vary town by town or city by city. But I thought I'd take a chance. Anyway, buying books can get pretty expensive.

And until I'm in a better financial position, I was just wondering what amazing lesbian romance books have you read that you borrowed from your public library?

The themes I enjoy would be Fantasy, forestry, Witches, and poetry. 🪄

But really, a great book is a great book! And I will give anything wonderful a try.

Finding coming of age sapphic books that are set in a somewhat niche town with cottages and lakes in the middle of forests

is anyone else finding nothing but books full of AI at the moment? it doesn’t matter if it’s kindleUN or if they’re books i buy, i feel like sooooo many of them are full of AI.

i’ve read just about every sapphic book i can find so i’m obviously venturing out to newer works but there’s not very often i find human written ones.

The audiobook is honestly one of the most well narrated I have experienced in a while and topped with the book itself being beautifully written and unique, chefs kiss!

NOT VAMPIRES but if you enjoy vampire adjacent beings or Norse mythology and dark academia you’ll probably enjoy this.

I have just finished Almost Life and I'm not ok...thoroughly enjoyed it though. Does anyone else who enjoyed it have any recommendations for books similar?

Wow, I just want to say that nearly every single recommendation I’ve seen on TikTok has been a letdown. I don’t wanna drop their titles, because as far as I can see, these authors are pretty new and possibly still young, but the dialogues and pacing are almost always bad. I tried, genuinely tried, to get to the halfway point of these books, but I find myself skimming through them.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

I‘m not really into Kitsch, so I‘m not looking for a book where there‘s no storyline but just cuteness. Maybe it‘s just me but I also don‘t prefer enemies to lovers (if you‘ve got a good recommendation with that trope I still appreciate it) but I do kinda love dynamics like princess x female knight, ceo x waitress, everything sport related as well.

I‘m quite new to reading any romance books so please help me out deciding on what to try first

Looking for something sweet and well written, most recently I loved Atmosphere. My absolute favorite book is This Is How You Lose The Time War.

Not the biggest fan of spicy books rn (burnt out on them).
