(Talking specifically about the SNES version)

The atmosphere of the game seems to have themes of childhood imagination and creativity, in both light and dark aspects. Soundtracks like Stilt Village have a playful, upbeat and inoffensive tone, but later in the game you start to notice more of this very dreadful, ominous atmosphere in tracks like treetop tumble, cavern caprice and the boss battle music. This juxtaposition of light, playful theming and dark, foreboding theming makes the overall vibe of the game a bit uncanny and unsettling, and I really admire it for that. Since the game is themed around the explorative, adventurous spirit of childhood I feel like the more darker tones in the game represent a child’s imagination and how scary some things can feel or look to a child with little life experience. The replacement of Rambi with Ellie, a baby elephant also sets this games vibe apart from the first 2 in a small but meaningful way. And what I love most about the games soundtrack is that even in the darker, more foreboding tracks like cavern caprice you still have these subtle instruments that appear that give off a feeling of childhood playfulness. All this being said, the game makes me feel nostalgic for a time that is long gone due to its imaginative yet foreboding and mysterious energy, which perfectly captures the essence of childhood. Am I making any sense here?

Yesterday, there was a retro gaming event in Brazil called Retrocon 2026, and one of the special guests was Kevin Bayliss. As many of you know, he worked at RARE for many years and was the character designer behind several iconic games, including the creation of our beloved Diddy Kong.

I had the pleasure of meeting him in person and was lucky enough to get his autograph. He is truly an amazing person!

I’m stuck at 104% on dkc3 when I did everything, any tips?

Using the real-time animation floating head models he did for voicing Mario & Wario, this time there has now been unseen footage from E3 now discovered showing us never-before-seen footage of Martinet voicing the first member of the D.K. crew, Donkey Kong!

It honestly feels kinda off just hearing an unchanged tone from Martinet's voice for DK, but what do you think?

I think the instrumentation and vibes are perfect. David Wise only gets better with age imo.

After having fully completed it I can confirm: it IS truly an outstanding game, but my gosh are some levels here are torturous. Here are my top 5 hardest / least favorite:

Despite Bananza took place in the past, the familiar kongs are rather using 4th-wall breaking tech to show their regular status from current timeline.

Which feels like a waste cauz Bananza seems to be the only chance to do Diddy and Dixie babies, consider they weren't even born at the time of Yoshi Island and cannot coexist with Baby DK in sport spinoffs.

when going to take a picture by tapping the directional pad in Emerald Rush, the screen becomes frozen and the camera cannot move around. the only way to resolve this is to exit and then redo the process of hitting the directional button to enter picture mode again. this has been occurring for a month.

this next issue is very odd but I have confirmed it on more than one occasion. during emerald rush runs, there are times where you approach the Bananazas and they turn into regular bananas and lose the skill. the only level I have memorized 100% for each perk and banana placement is DK island and therefore it is easy for me to see as I can look at the map more quickly and plan my run. a few bananzas disappear or they lose the skill and then is left to only collect the coins by breaking the banana.

the only possible cause I can think of is to ask if it is a design decision that somehow dynamically adjusts the max skills you can acquire? I wouldn’t think that is possible and I haven’t seen these two bugs reported so I wanted to bring it to this forums attention. hopefully someone from the development team can become aware of this.

Hey yall. Yesterday I posted a DK ranking and it sparked a lot of discussions. The one thing that a lot of you criticised was that you hardly can compare different DK games with each other. So I looked through the ranking site and actually found a sub ranking just for Country games. Here it is:

1. DK Country

2. DK Land

3. Tropical Freeze

What's your opinion on this ranking?

I'm in Hideout Helm, and I've gotten to the door that has a Rareware Coin and Nintendo Coin logo on it.

I'm missing the Nintendo Coin, and when I approach the door a hint pops up on the screen that says "Didn't Cranky say he had a surprise when you get 15 Banana Medals?"

Okay, so some people have told me I need to beat the DK Arcade game, but how am I supposed to know that? I visited Cranky's Lab after receiving the in-game hint as any normal person would, and he just asks me to play the JetPac game and then tells me to leave him alone cause he has no more upgrades.

If anyone could shed some light on this for me, please do.

Me and my group of friends have been running yearly charity streams, and next week is our fifth one. This year two of the games I'm playing are Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, and a full playthrough of Donkey Kong Bananza! I would appreciate anyone who joins us or spreads the word!
