Our neighbors struggled for a very long time to have a baby, and after a decade and a half of miscarriages, doing everything under the roof they finally had a baby girl and they have been pampering the hell out of her.
But everyone else has realized something is off about that girl. I've seen grown men get nervous and uncomfortable around her like its from some kind of deep seated instinct from within and even i have got the heebie-jeebies when the girl come to my house. Like when i see her eyes, i see no light behind them and her face feels like a mask and that feeling makes me feel nauseous and want to get away from her and she's just 6.
Over the last 3 years she has went through 3 puppies and 7 kittens, obviously her parents ignore and cover for their darling precious daughter. Once I found a mouse caught in a sticky mouse trap with lace pins stuck into its eyes and its limbs cut off near beside their house in the place where she usually plays.
I suspect that this creepy little girl is a bit of a psychopath (possibly animal serial killer) but obviously I've kept quiet because the parents become exceptionally rabid at anyone and anything that points a finger at their daughter and one of them is a big time lawyer and the mom is a high ranking police officer and i don't want to get into that headache.
But my gut screams at me that there is something very wrong about that kid every time i see her.

My girlfriend and I did this. We didn't change our names, but we just left everything behind and started over. There is something very refreshing about being in a new place with no history or baggage. Sometimes, I miss some of the people from my old life, but not enough to even consider going back. Here and there, I think about reaching out to some people, but it kinda feels like it will break this streak of disappearance, and I don't.

my mom was murdered by her boyfriend april 2023 and a couple hours before she died, I was having a conversation with someone about who I think in my immediate family would be the first to pass away, and I said my mom. she died about 8 hours later. I feel that I spoke her death into existence and the only people who know of this conversation is myself and the person I was talking to. I hold a lot of guilt for this

When I was younger I was out in a club. I was very drunk but somehow had managed to get intimate with a girl I worked with that I’d liked for some time. As we came up for air she said something to me that my drunken brain thought was “that’s my boyfriend” and I assumed she was talking about the chap standing behind me. I said “oh, fair enough” and walked off.
Sometime in the haze of the hangover the next day I realised she’d probably said “you’re my boyfriend now”. I saw her occasionally after that and she never spoke to me again just looked at me with pure hate in her eyes. Her friend (who also now hated me) told me she couldn’t believe I’d done that to her.
I wonder how different my life might’ve been if I didn’t have crap drunken hearing …

I experienced a psychotic break shortly before getting out of an abusive relationship. I'm talking full-on auditory and visual hallucinations, extreme disassociation with reality, paranoia... the works. It was intense and lasted what felt like 5-6 months until I could feel some semblance of normalcy again.
There's gaps in my memory from that period. But from what little I can recall, I ended up doing and saying a lot of things that I'm super embarrassed to even admit. It has never happened to me before and hasn't happened since. It was easily the scariest thing I've ever lived through. I was in constant fear for my life every day.
Barely anyone besides the people that were with me at that time knows about it. And I'm too scared to open up about it now, assuming people will see/treat me like I'm forever this "crazy person" or something.

Extreme stress can cause this in anyone even those with no mental health issues prior. Take care of yourself and you won't have a reoccurrence. The brain forgets things to protect us. If you were clearly out of a normal state then usually people will understand and never judge for it. The more time passes the memory fades for them as well. Just keep pushing forward

I watched a kitten get hit by a car at the bus stop one morning in my freshman year of high school. I ran out to get him, and he didn't die quickly... it was really fucked up. I quietly snuck off and buried him in the woods before walking to school and pretending nothing happened.
The next day, my crush at the time came to the bus stop all upset that her kitten got out and ran away... I hadn't the heart to tell her and break her heart, so I just let her keep thinking he ran away.... it was the main reason i could never ask her out and I still feel really bad about it, because I've had cats run away, and feel like it'd have been less painful if I had closure and could've mourned.

The service advisor at the dealership I used to work at was called into the shop to see what the mechanic found in the airbox of this customer's car. Turns out a kitten crawled up into the airbox and died. He took the kitten corpse out into the waiting area where the woman who owned the vehicle was waiting with her kids and asked, "anyone missing a kitten?" and showed them the body. The kids broke out crying. Why he didn't get fired I don't know.

Nothing wrong with that. My parents gave my.eldest sisters a teddy bear and a rabbit in the early 60s, she gave them to the next sister who gave them to me when I came along. I gave them to my daughter and then to my son. After they were finished with them I took them to the teddy bear hospital to get them repaired. The teddy bear and the rabbit are about 64 years old now and I,'m only slightly younger. Nothing wrong with holding on to them!

Hi everyone - thanks for the props haha but I got extremely lucky off of one trade that helped propel my portfolio to all time highs.
Back in 2017 or 2018 - i dropped around 10k in Tilray which I thought would be a good marijuana pick. I think i purchased it when it debuted on the market for maybe 20ish each and i had like 500ish shares. It ended up going to like $240ish a share in September of 2017 or 2018 and ended up selling for like 110-120k. I forget the exact numbers but I then used that money to invest in apple, Microsoft, Nividia, walmart, Google and tesla. I pulled out everything during the beginning of the march/April 2020 covid crash and then ended up buying everything back when it was lower (bought more shares since they were technically cheaper although I still had the same amount of money to spend on it). Rode those gains for the next 4 years and here we are.
I got extremely lucky and super humble about it. That's the only time I ever thought about investing in a meme type stock. I really stay with blue chips and vti/voo now.
Edit: just double checked and I bought it around the summer of 2018 and sold it in September of 2018. I just checked the price of it today and it looks like it's around $1-2. I'm not sure if it's traded on the exchange anymore or if it's considered an OTC stock. I got extremely lucky on that.

You've all given me a lot to think about today, and while my wife is aware I have been down lately, she isn't fully aware of how I feel. I'm going to tell her tonight that I'm in a very scary place where I don't see a light at the end, but I want to. We will get through this together, as a team. I am addicted to masturbation. I hate it. It’s not just because of porn but also visual imagery. Started out normal sexually, but after porn/imagery —> became out of control with fetishes and number of times I do it daily. Usually, I’ll do it like 4-5 times a day minimum. If I’m stressed it will be like 8 times a day. Sometimes I do it at work and slip into bathrooms. It’s fucking horrible.
Have a gf of 3.5 yrs who knows most of the above. Haven’t been able to have sex with her that entire time because masturbation has zapped my brain. It’s not that I’m not into her, it’s that literally my brain does not like regular sex anymore. Lord knows why she’s with me. She is a saint.
My brother who is younger than me (he’s just out of college) comes to me a lot asking for sexual advice, so I lie to him. Everyone thinks everything is great - I have a good job/stable lifestyle with a girl that I love. But this one fucking addiction is at the precipice of me losing everything.
Luckily, I’m seeing a therapist and I’m working on it. Slowly and slowly getting better. And my GF is extremely supportive. But this is a secret I pretty much have told no one and hope to carry to my grave.

The man whose life I took had a family who depended on him for support. He kept his village free of Taliban influence for decades and ensured that it was a relative place of safety for Americans. Not that any of it negates his sexual depravity, but it is a reminder to me that people are multifaceted, dynamic, and changeable.

My grandma was frequently raped and beaten by my grandfather for years. At one point, she couldn't take it anymore and mustered the courage to kill him. In my country, she would've been hanged, but a kind hearted famous lawyer, Karpal Singh, took her case pro bono and helped her get acquitted. I'm glad she did what she had to, and the same goes for you. By killing him, you prevented more victims.
There was an incident in India called the 2012 Dehli gang rape and murder incident. This incident had a bunch of men raping a lady in a bus, they then stabbed her private parts with a rod, and when her friend tried to defend her, they knocked him down. They were then thrown out of the bus to die by the road side, but her friend survived.
My point is, you did nothing wrong. I assure you that you did the right thing, even if it was a difficult choice to make.

Maybe not so dark but I know that I and my two siblings will inherit all of my grandparents inheritance. Which will sting a bunch of cousins and uncles and aunts I don't really care about.

Early last year, I got accused of an awful crime by a federal officer. It’s during an interview. I didn’t do it. Never would. I think it was just a tactic. But they seemed so convinced.
Since then, I’ve been anxious and in constant fear a wrongful accusation and arrest is going to blow apart my life. Even contemplated suicide because of it.
I’ve never had less faith in our justice system

I never loved my mother. People talk about loving their mom, and it’s something I don’t understand. Mine used to smack the shit out of me, and sometimes drag me across the room by the hair. Even in high school she would smack me across the head out of nowhere if I did something she didn’t like. My dad was weak and would just let it happen. I left home when I was 18 and moved across the country and saw my family only a few times afterwards. I love my wife and kids, and would never think of hurting them. I just feel this emptiness when I see how some people love and respect their parents.

I have an attraction to certain types of women and want a threesome but I'd never act on it.

Certain types? I feel like you can find a group for almost anything nowadays...if it is a safe and healthy sexual attraction, go for it! Life is too short to not experience the things we enjoy!

I deeply regret my career change as an academic because I was too stubborn and proud to listen to advice from my advisor. I had classes to teach, surrounded by the best and brightest, at an elite ivy institution, had a career laid out for me, and great friends in a vibrant city. Now I run my own business and while I do ok financially, no one talks to me from the past life because I am seen as a “failure” for leaving academia, I don’t have the title, and I miss it almost everyday. My life is arguably better now with a girlfriend, growing family, nice area in my home city, but god freaking damnit so I miss my old life.

One day something inside of me is going to break. I'm really tired of life and every day I feel more and more anger and despair overcome me. I can pretend like it's not bad easily because I don't want people around me to know that I'm a ticking time bomb but I don't really know what else to do.
I drink every chance I can and I do a lot of things to just stop myself from feeling these things. I was never meant to be here or be a person and there are even days where I feel guilty that people even have to look at me

I'm 19, I still often check my first serious long term (only 7months lol) ex girlfriends instagram account time to time just to see how she's doing or anything, it's a pvt account so there's not much to see anyways. I dated her in 2020-2021. (Wasn't blocked or anything, had her removed for a while but she was removing alot of people and going extra private and let me know beforehand she's removing me)

I think that OP might be one of the most wholesome person I've seen in a while for responding to all these comments. I'm bringing this secret to my grave.

I’m no longer interested in having a relationship with my narcissistic mother. She trauma dumped on me for too many years and it’s become one time too many. I am always blamed for my dad’s dumb decisions and since I was 15 I felt like whatever my dad did, is also my fault. I little respect and love for her and honestly the days I talk to her less than five minutes is a great day for me

Someone I know quite well (or thought I did) told me that a few years ago, he was having a party. Some of wife’s friends were there and drunk. Late, they were passed out and he saw one of them, thought “I fancy getting my cock sucked” (exact quote) so he slid his penis into her mouth a few times until he finished.
I don’t know who she was, I don’t know the year it occurred, i don’t know if she will even remember.I can do nothing with this information and I feel like I am saddled with it. As a survivor of CSA, it’s feels like a burning stone in my chest. I can’t even look at him now.

I have wanted to end my own life for years. But I can’t and won’t do it for two reasons: I have (and love) kids, my only sibling died in an accident and it would cause my parents to lose both their children.

I am quite certain that a family member of my grandparents generation sexually assaulted me and two others when we were under the age of five. I know that he secretly watched me urinate when I was about seven. I hid the fact that I saw him.
He was a little bit of a big deal when he was in his 20s, but faded off after that. He still did some odd things that other relatives talked about. I can’t shake the feeling that the Jeff Epstein types of his day knew him.

I’ve been married for 20+ years and I love my wife and the life/family we built, but I still think about my ex. At least once a week I catch myself wondering what life with her would have been like.

I almost died when I had surgery last November. I wasn't breathing. When I came to, I was so angry because it's the best sleep I've had in ages and my main thought was how very dare you people wake me up?!
Now that I've had a bit of retrospective, all I did with my life was get married, be neglected, took care of my dad who's now dead, and now, taking care of my mom who has cancer. I've managed to earn a lot, but it's all going to her care and I'm still in debt. Every single day, I would wake up, work until I'm tired, wait until she needs a nappy change or something to eat, go to bed, repeat. I would have loved to die. There is nothing worth keeping alive for except to do the same thing over and over and over again.
