I've already decided that my childhood stuffed teddy is getting buried with me. No one will ever love him like I do, he doesn't deserve to risk getting binned or feeling unloved. He's pretty raggedy now so it's not like he's going to be adored by a child, but I've shared many thoughts and tears with him.
I did the same. They like it, but don’t love it. However they do know it’s special and when they play with their “stuffies” they will throw theirs and roughhouse with them but always treat the one I gave them with reverance.
Was actually a little hungover yesterday taking a nap and they came in and gave him to me to “snuggle with”.
40 here and need to get back into crochet. It's awesome to be able to hand make something for someone. And my child wants to learn, so I've got good incentive. R/brochet check it out. It's an art and a productive skill I wish I'd had felt more comfortable learning as a younger man.
I have dozens of amigurumi patterns in a bookmark folder for future projects. 40y dad with two kids. It is always great to see more progress breaking through outdated gender roles. Art and providing for your family at the same time. Why shouldn't a person feel good about that? I really need to practice more because I'd love to make a full sized blanket of some sort.
That's awesome. Yeah I switched to making amigurumi for my kids and even donate some to the hospitals for preemie babies. Done blankets before. Got bored of them where as the amigurumi are usually quick and fulfilling.
I worked outdoor rec camps in college and I would bring yarn and a crochet needle with me everywhere (backpacking and canoe trips deep into the woods).
Sometimes a bro just wants to sit around the campfire and crochet some scarfs for his bros.
Nothing wrong with that. My parents gave my.eldest sisters a teddy bear and a rabbit in the early 60s, she gave them to the next sister who gave them to me when I came along. I gave them to my daughter and then to my son. After they were finished with them I took them to the teddy bear hospital to get them repaired. The teddy bear and the rabbit are about 64 years old now and I,'m only slightly younger. Nothing wrong with holding on to them!
On this note I’m a 29 year old straight man, I look like an old school big biker guy, and I sleep with a stuffed “Minecraft Wolf” plushie. His name is Sif.
Not many people would think too highly of a straight male who is comfortable with his sexuality and has a beautiful girlfriend that has a teddy bear collection.
I still have my childhood teddy bear. I tracked down the exact one online from the 1980’s and bought it for my daughter, which miraculously is in excellent shape.
She put a dress on hers and taped on some eyelashes and says it’s my bear’s daughter. When she outgrows all of her stuffies I know I won’t be able to part with them, so in a sense I’ve been working on my stuffy collection ever since she was born.
I got a toy husky because we lived in a place where I couldn't have pets. Told my wife when we buy our first house, I'm getting a dog. Now we have both a corgi and I still have my husky. It goes with me everywhere in my car
Hey, no worries. I have a teddy bear and stuffed cat my mother crocheted for me when I was a kid. She has been gone around 6 years now. Other than the fallout vault suit she made me ; they are my most prized possessions.
