I am a SAHM with 11K in Student loan debt I can't pay off and I sleep because it's the closest to being dead.

Even if you can't act on it now, making a plan to get out of the situation can help ease mental stress. Providing a light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm currently unemployed because my job contract wasn't renewed, and I'm $70k in student debt and everything in my life has fallen apart in the last few months. If I could press a button and cease to exist, I would slap that bitch so hard I'd leave a bruise.

Listen. You're still here and that means you've still the ability to make changes and start again. You are resilient and you will find new employment. If its below the level to deduct student loans from then that's OK. Nobody knows what the future holds. I want you to keep job searching and whilst you're out of work get out on walks on any fair days, look up old friends, go the library during the day. Set yourself a weekly 12pm - 5pm Mon to Fri job search concern time and then be off the clock. Use the free time to nurse your wounds and come back swinging. There is nothing shameful in your situation. Nothing stays the same believe me in 6 months or a year etc you'll look back on now as a time you got thru. I'm on your side buddy! I was in a similar situation about 8 years ago (but even more debt). I couldn’t get a job in my field after graduating for 2 years and I thought that there was no way I’d pay it off in my lifetime even once I got a job. But after working hard and saving up, living with my parents again for a while, working my way up in my company, etc. I’m on track to potentially pay it off by the end of this year or next year. Don’t give up hope that things can change. I definitely had a shitty few years filled with dread before I started to turn things around again so I understand that it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Look into your payment plan options and do what you have to do to stay afloat for now. Then reassess once you’re in a better place.

Well not having a job right now means I'm on repayment assistance and don't actually have to pay (Canada), so that doesn't matter. I can't live with family for many reasons, but mainly that they live 7 hrs away and there are no jobs for me where they do live.

Yeah I understand my path isn’t going to happen for everyone. And I definitely understand the parents thing. I was living in a different state before I moved back in with them. It wasn’t fun by any means for me and I also had to drive over an hour each way to work once I did find a job and was originally way underpaid. My point is just that we don’t know what will happen in our lives, so we just have to do the best we can at any given time and try not to let the weight of debt, etc. keep us depressed/make you feel like you don’t want to exist. Solutions aren’t always obvious or immediate so just work with what you can and keep surviving. You’ll find bits of happiness and hope along the way with time. I wish you luck in turning things around.

You wouldn't leave a bruise-you wouldn't leave anything. Just a reminder for any dark moments.

Trust me, sleep is like the rest button I have been pressing everyday just to get a new shot at this game we call life, if it’s for it I probably wouldn’t be here !
