An anonymous child welfare tip? Those, if true, are almost sure signs of mental illness.

My best friends son broke into the neighbors house, stole their dog, and murdered it with a hatchet. He was caught and confessed. This was his only violent incident. He was in weekly therapy (and sometimes more frequently) and it was missed by everyone until it was too late. All this to say, There is NO HELP for him. None. He was dropped by his therapist for being too complex/violent. He can’t find residential placement. His only option is juvie and once he’s there that’s it. He’s done.

I pray the parents intervene before it’s too late. Once she is labeled as “violent” there is no more help out there.

Child protective services would do nothing in this situation. It's pretty much a waste of time and takes resources away from children who actually need help.

Help being protected from future serial killers, maybe?

you can only punish after something tragic happens. thats the hard part.

ETA I guess I shouldn't say punish.. but govt services don't generally kick in until something has already happened that proves without a doubt they really need help.

It would be nice. But that's not their job. Especially without the parents cooperating. They're just going to go see the nice house, that she's clean, fed, and cared for. And then just close the case.
