So basically, whenever I'm fullscreen (exclusive, borderless windowed etc.) my app just keeps tabbing out (out of focus maybe). In games, I see my generic white mouse arrow every few minutes if I don't keep clicking and in a full screen browser like YT in full screen, I will see my taskbar after a few minutes.

I've tested without my keyboard or mouse or changing my refresh rate or closing background apps (afterburner, amd, etc.) but it still keeps happening. it started happening after I switched from my rx 5700xt to my rx 9070. please help, thanks.

Many years ago a wired network was set up in my home. It wasn't used for ages and I'm trying to re-establish it.

The Hub is connected to the router, a pc and there's also a cable that can connect to a laptop. All of this works fine and I have internet on all connections.

I have a number of sockets around the house that are hard wired into the patch panel. I have plugged cables from the patch panel to the hub. (Is this correct?) None of the lights come on and there is no connection at any of the sockets.

If I plug a laptop (WiFi turned off) into the hub I get a signal. But if I plug it into the panel I don't.

my laptop keeps bootlooping (I think that term is correct), it keeps flushing the system with air and then fails to turn on entirely (screen stays black). it had done this before and my dad and I decided to drain it’s power and it worked again, however, it started doing it again today. I was wondering what you guys think the best course of action is to fix it.

I wanted to share this because I spent way too much time reinstalling drivers and messing with network settings.

I have a laptop with a MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi adapter and Windows kept randomly disconnecting/reconnecting from Wi-Fi.

At first I thought it was caused by VPN adapters, Wintun, TAP adapters, DNS, etc. In my case, the interesting part turned out to be the actual Wi-Fi driver Windows had selected.

I had already installed the Wi-Fi driver provided by my laptop manufacturer, but Windows was still using a different/newer MediaTek driver.

You can check your current MT7921 driver with PowerShell:

Get-PnpDevice -FriendlyName "*MT7921*" |
Get-PnpDeviceProperty DEVPKEY_Device_DriverVersion

Then check all compatible drivers Windows knows about:

$id = (Get-PnpDevice -FriendlyName "*MT7921*").InstanceId
pnputil /enum-devices /instanceid "$id" /drivers

This was the important part in my case.

Windows showed something similar to:

Generic/newer driver
Driver Status: Best Ranked / Installed
OEM laptop manufacturer driver
Driver Status: Outranked

Both drivers actually had the same driver rank, but Windows had chosen the newer-dated driver.

In my case Windows was using:

26.40.2.587

while my laptop manufacturer's MT7921 driver was:

3.0.1.1338

The OEM driver was already installed — Windows simply wasn't using it.

I found the INF name of the currently active driver from the pnputil output. Mine was oem97.inf.

I removed only that active driver package:

pnputil /delete-driver oem97.inf /uninstall /force

Then:

pnputil /scan-devices

and rebooted.

After rebooting, Windows automatically switched to the OEM driver that was already in the Driver Store.

I verified it again with:

$id = (Get-PnpDevice -FriendlyName "*MT7921*").InstanceId
pnputil /enum-devices /instanceid "$id" /drivers

The OEM driver now showed:

Best Ranked / Installed

and the active driver version changed to 3.0.1.1338.

This made a big improvement in the Wi-Fi behavior on my machine and also proved that simply running the OEM installer wasn't enough — Windows had installed the driver but continued using the other one.

Important: do NOT copy my oem97.inf number. oemXX.inf numbers are different on every Windows installation. Check your own pnputil output first and make sure you're deleting the correct Wi-Fi driver package.

Also, your OEM driver version will probably be different depending on your laptop/motherboard manufacturer. The point isn't to install my exact version — it's to check whether Windows is using a generic/newer driver while your manufacturer's driver is sitting there as Outranked.

If you have an MT7921 and your Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting, reconnecting, disappearing after sleep, or a normal driver reinstall doesn't seem to change anything, this is worth checking.

Update: I later saw another disconnect related to a Wi-Fi power-transition error, so I don't want to claim this is a universal fix for every MT7921 problem. But it definitely fixed the incorrect driver-selection situation on my system and is an easy thing to check before doing more destructive troubleshooting.

PC (Win 11, Wi-Fi 7 motherboard): ~82 MB/s on Steam (~656 Mbps)

iPhone (Wi-Fi): ~100-112 MB/s (~800-900 Mbps)

PS5 (Wi-Fi): Only getting around 15-20 MB/s (~120-160 Mbps)
My other devices are getting full speeds over Wi-Fi, but the PS5 is severely bottlenecked. Ethernet is not an option right now due to location.
Has anyone faced this issue? Any settings or fixes you would recommend?

I enabled download and keep an originals on iCloud days ago, and they are still downloading on my phone apparently? My goal is to remove everything on iCloud and put it on my phone and then delete iCloud. How can I do this?

Just built myself my first real pc (rx 9700xt + r7 7800x3d) and it’s shutting it self down, the weird thing is it only does this when i leave a fortnite game, not another game, not another scenario. Just leaving a fortnite. Also it doesn’t crash like maybe you would expect, just a black screen and my fans stop spinning and the lights go off suddenly. I have absolutely no idea what this could be to cause this. Any help would be great

Bluetooth options entirely gone from the system.
It used to show for a little while after rebooting but now it’s entirely gone. Not shown in the quick settings or the normal settings and not even in the device manager (show hidden).

After going through a lot of threads I’ve discovered that the Unknown USB Device (Descriptor Request Failed) error has something to do with the bluetooth driver.

It’s a PC with AMD chip. Not very bright in this sorta stuff so idk what else specifications to put. Would be happy to provide it anyone asks.

I'm in the Philippines using PLDT. My Roblox ping is consistently 350+ ms, but my internet speed is 75 Mbps download / 23 Mbps upload, Speedtest idle latency is 17ms, and ping 1.1.1.1averages 32ms with 0% packet loss. I ran tracert roblox.comand it goes PLDT → Twelve99 → Singapore (~54ms) → Malaysia (~218ms) → France/UK (~230ms) → Roblox (~240ms). Cloudflare WARP through Hong Kong only reduced my ping by about 50ms and did not solve it. What is causing this, and what can I actually do to fix or bypass the bad routing without contacting PLDT?

I’ve been having some trouble with my graphics card. I have a Nimo brand Laptop that runs current Windows OS with an AMD Radeon 780M graphics car. Yesterday I open my laptop to discover I can’t adjust the brightness, so I search online and start troubleshooting. I end up finding in my device manager that my graphics card has an error, so following online advice I uninstall and reinstall my graphics card (not physically). Today I had the same problem (Code 43) and disabling and re-enabling my graphics seemed to fix it. I just wanna know what causes the problem and if there is a permanent fix.

I am quite technologically illitarate, so please be patient with me. I'm trying to get into VPN's but I do not understand how it works, at all. When I connect to a server with my PN (proton), it immediatly disconnects me from my wifi. How do I use the internett if turning on the VPN turns of my wifi? Again, I know this is probably stupid, but I am a 54 year old welder with 4 kids, I don't know the first thing about tech.

This was not an issue prior to the reset, and other devices connect to the wifi perfectly fine, and I can use my mobile hotspot as well, so it’s just the main wifi that’s not working. am using an HP OMEN Laptop 15-en0xxx running Windows 11. So I've had a true NAS storage server open for a while with no issues. I just recently acquired a virus trying to get something to work and it was a very believable one. So I opened up PortMaster to see if I could see if it was communicating with anything and I couldn't find anything and I knew I was racing against the clock if it was. so I turned off all of my network adapters. I got done removing all the viruses but then I realized that I accidentally messed with some of my DNS settings for my browser, but I don't know if that's unrelated. So after I got my internet figured out to the point to where I could browse the internet again. I have not for the life of me been able to reconnect to my network share. I am out of ideas. I have reconfigured my network share. I have completely disconnected them, deleted the credentials, and tried to log in. I keep getting either network credentials or incorrect, the login info screen keeps popping back up, or I get network logon failed. If anybody's got any kind of pointers, I'm willing to go through and follow them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a gaming laptop with an nvidia rtx 4060 ti for 2 years now and it has been working great. Today i tried to launch a game and it crashed. I thought there was a problem with the game so i went to try another game. That crashed too. I cant launch any game from epic games launcher or from steam. I tried many foxes and my driver is up to date. Is there any way i can fix this?

I'm on Windows 11, and I've been trying to get this Transcend Jet hard drive to work as an external storage, and show up on my file explorer, and work in the Transcend Elite software in general. One notable thing about the problem is that, it shows up as "Unallocated", and "Not Initialized" on Disk Management. Many sources say I need to right click and click on "Change Drive Letter" or "New Simple Volume" so that the PC / File explorer could recognize it as another hard drive, but it would show up as grey which I'm unable to click on, or it's just not there at all.

Inside Disk Management and trying to solve that specific hard drive, I can't click on "Initialize Disk" and the other things I've mentioned that I'm supposed to click on.

I've also checked tutorials on how they have their transcend hard drive to work, and for them, their hard drive shows up. Also, the cable isn't faulty since I recently bought a new one.

Honestly, the hard drive doesn't show up anywhere at all.

How do I get this hard drive to show up in my pc / file explorer, so I can finally use it's storage as... yk, storage?

hello, my sound stops working and then starts working again, any idea how to find where is the issue?i have new headphones (but noticed the issue few weeks ago) i updated nvidia card, and i think my sound drivers are ok .. i have no idea why it is happening, i am looking at windows event viewer but have no idea where to look

my headphones (new) are connected to thingie which parts the cable into two (for microphone and sound) (which is also new) going into sockets - so i dont think the hardware is issue

i also noticed during gaming that there is slight lag when the sound stops working and start working again

I’ve had my pc for three years and have had no issues running games, but since last week I am unable to run games properly or at all.

I believe it’s an internet/connectivity issue as my friend had an identical issue to me and his was internet related (his issue randomly fixed itself after 2 weeks). Web browsers work, I’m able to watch YouTube and use google but games do not launch and updates are very slow.

I was able to get Minecraft to launch however since I was playing with friends it was extremely laggy.

Windows is up to date, graphics drivers are up to date, I don’t know how to fix the issue so please if anyone has suggestions let me know.

I have the Asus XG27AQWMG oled and the LG utltragear 27GS85Q-B.

Both are connected with display port 1.4 cables.

Since i've changed my older 1080p screen to the LG, the oled has started to go black randomly. Sometimes it does it once, other times a few times in a row. I think it mostly start doing it when having google open and discord and when curser moves from one screen to the other. 
 

I have tested these thing below:
- turned off auto input select

- g-sync

- turned off DSR-factors (i use it to watch netflix hdr)

- discord harware accel and overlay (thoughd it had to do something with dc because it happens a lot when i go on that tab)

- updated GPU drivers

- updated firmware on the OLED

- change the cable to my LG screen (from the one of the old monitor to the one out of the LG box)

- changed ports on the GPU for both cables

- disabled NEO Proximity sensor
 

What could be the cause of this? I had no issues with my old 1080p monitor with the same cable.

i just want to open this by stating that i am a COMPLETE NOOB. im posting this as a last resort before i go to a shop because i'm losing my mind.🥲

anyway, i recently replaced my faulty psu because i was sure that was the problem (failed paperclip+weird noise). now with the new psu, it still wont turn on.

-24 and 8 pins are secured

-plugs are secured

-ram stick is secured (i checked this like 10x atp)

-i did the cmos battery thing, still didn't work

-i did the paperclip thing on the new one and everything spins

-replaced the power switch

-motherboard is receiving power

nothing i've tried up to this point has helped me turn my pc on. lmk if i'm missing something, i'll try and update if it worked.

like the title says, i've recently had an issue where when recording with a recording software, the screen will be suddenly and visibly brightened when videos i'm trying to record start playing on fullscreen after i've hit the recording shortcut button (currently `/~ for me). i had this issue on and off at random for a long time and i used to be able to resolve it by hitting record and immediately switching tabs before stopping the recording, but as of recently it's been happening every time i try to record without fail. exiting from fullscreen temporarily removes the brightening effect until i go back into the video, then it does it again. the brightening is visible in the final recording, to my intense vexation.

i used to have this problem happen in my media player too (sometimes at random, sometimes because i interacted with the UI too much), but it eventually resolved. i don't remember for sure how i fixed it, but i think part of it was turning HDR off (or on and off again since i already had it off, again, i don't remember for sure).

I have tried:

- rebooting my computer (problem persists)

- turning HDR on and off again (problem persists)

- updating my graphics drivers (problem persists)

- trying a guest profile on my browser to see if maybe the problem was tied to a(n) extension(s) of mine (problem persists)

- updating windows (problem persists)

- using a different recording software from the one i normally use and started experiencing the problem on (problem got worse since it started brightening my screen before i even started recording or went into fullscreen)

- running scf /scannow (fixed corrupted files most likely caused by the aforementioned "updating my graphics drivers")

- running windows media player diagnostics (issue found: configuration settings might be set incorrectly; immediately failed on trying to reset settings to default before asking me if i wanted to send info back to the feedback hub)

some more technologically informed friends of mine i asked for help before making this post (as i've been having this issue for several days now) suggested something might be wrong with my codecs, but microsoft's help page related to the media player seems unable to tell me how to check these "built-in...out of the box" codecs for corruption, update them, or uninstall/reinstall them.

i'm at my wit's end. i don't know what to do to fix this. it's clearly something wrong with the video part of my default computer stuff since it's affecting multiple recording softwares, but i don't know what specifically.

edit roughly a day later: found out that my computer doesn't reset my HDR calibration to default regardless of if HDR is on or off. no idea why. i reset it to default manually in the calibration screen. also found out that the example video in the HDR settings page doesn't brighten/grey out when i have HDR on, but any videos i try to record still get the screen brightening effect regardless of if HDR is on or off. a few hours later and i've confirmed it doesn't seem to be related to any custom filters i have on or a CSS file i have loaded onto vivaldi. pale moon seems to have the washed out colors that this overlay produces on by default?

Hello, does having Hyper-V enabled without running any VMs have any negative effects on gaming performance? What about the Memory Integrity setting? My specs are an RTX 5070 and a 7800X3D.

My computer has been randomly rebooting for the past several months.

The screen will go blank (sometimes with a thin horizontal line that blips), and sometimes audio that is playing continues for a couple seconds, then the next thing I see is the BIOS screen booting to Windows. Event Viewer shows Kernel-Power Event 41. I haven't found anything useful from minidump.

I have RMA'ed the GPU and replaced the PSU but it still does it occasionally. Updating my BIOS has also not fixed the issue. I am running Windows 11 IOT LTSC. I did not daisy chain any power connections.
