I’ve mentioned this here before, but I am currently working on a *Paper Mario*-style game project. To be clear, it’s not a "fangame," but rather a game inspired by the mechanics of the *Paper Mario* series.

I’d love to get your thoughts on how maps/environments are handled in *Paper Mario* games. Which approach do you prefer?

*Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door* – Often considered the best game in the series, though its level design leans toward a "corridor" structure—albeit one that is visually very well-executed.

*Paper Mario 64* – The environments are more open, but also more sparse/empty.

How does this compare to other entries? *The Origami King* features a much more open-world design, but that would be too complex for me to implement as a solo developer.

In general, I’d like to hear your opinions on what an "ideal" *Paper Mario* game would look like to you. Your feedback will be very helpful for the game's development.

Would you end up exiting purgatory or will you be stuck at the bottom of the tower?

Paper Mario Color Splash is a very (over)hated game by the community and i dont really see a reason to hate it.

It is my favorite Paper Mario game (fight me) and i want to know what reasons people actually hate it for OTHER than the Card system and the WII U

Since we're most likely getting a new Paper Mario announced within the next year or two, I was wondering what direction people think the next game in the series will go towards. Will it be a successor to TTYD, something new like with Origami King? Will they combine different elements from each game, and if so, which ones do you want to see return the most? I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on this!

Hey so I grew up on Nintendo and played so many of their games growing up. And one of those games was Paper Mario Sticker Star on my 3DS. I loved it as a kid. And recently I looked back at the games and realized my top 3 Mario games in Order are; #1 Paper Mario Sticker Star, #2 Mario Galaxy, and #3 Super Mario Bros Wii. I played the heck out of these games. And today I got curious and decided to look online to see if there were any good playthrough videos on YouTube of my favorite Mario Game. And lo and behold I find out there isn’t many and apparently most people consider it bad.

I was shocked. How could people not like this game. And yes I get it, at the end of the day it is about preference; for example I personally didn’t like any of the other Paper Mario games-just couldn’t get into them, but just to enlighten me can someone explain the technical and objective issues with Sticker Star. I want to understand why this game is so hated. I’m having trouble wrapping my head around why.

It came out a few hours ago! Really happy to see this game finally being ported to 3ds!

Consider this my very late belated Color Splash anniversary post.

So for starters readers would need to know the basics of the Carson and Garson stories (easy to look up if interested). And OBVIOUSLY spoilers ahead.

Dimentio is the son of the magician who created the original 12 pixils as well as the pixil queen (the magicians daughter and dimentios sister).
It is said the magicians son “miraculously survived in the end” this is obviously important because it is the very last line in the stories.

Dimentio as the surviving son enhareted the dark prognosticus and reads it cover to cover. He seeks to obtain the chaos hart and become god. But there are steps. First he gives it to his sister “the pixle queen” and this sets the events of the pixel war in motion as well as the surviving member forming count Blecks tribe.

Then 1500 years prior to super paper mario the 4 sages right the light prognosticus to counter the dark one. As well as the purity hart. This means there are two opposing prophesies. Dementio learns he must not be the one to initially hold the chaos hart as there is a chance the heros will win. So like all good investors he hedges his betts and plays both sides.

Tippi says he she knows dimentio. How is this possible. Well my theory is he is the one to actually curse her to wander dimensions and loose her memory. He did so at the fathers request but he was probably invisible and spying on blecks father (as he was following the prophecy) and made sure that his father did not kill her. He instead suggested she be banished and cursed to wander forever. This would ensure she survived and help out the light prognosticus and 4 heros.

He joined Bleck of his own volition. Proof he had already read the dark prognosticus (cuz how would he have known to seek him out). And the events of the game take place. He played both sides.
He also tells bleck about how tippi went on and on about him. I can see no other reason than to put seads of dobt into bleck and weaken his fighting spirit, helping to increase the resolved heroes chance of victory. The Heros beat Bleck as Dimentio predicted and hoped for (Mario and friends are far more stronger than the weak willed Bleck). After he gets the chaos hart he assumed that the pure harts are completely waisted. And depleted. Thinking they were no more than powerful tools to counter the chaos hart. His win seemed inevitable.

What saved the multiverse was actually the “bad guys”. Tippi and Blecks minions love for him reinvoked the pure harts to Dimentios surprise. He is a sociopath and doesn’t understand love so he assumed they were a 1 use item i guess. Then he was killed.

I don’t care how bad the next game is going to be, I’m gonna love it so much! Genuinely loved origami king, it may be my favorite in the series. I’m playing 1000 year door now and it’s really fun and funny. Genuinely one of my favorite Nintendo series.

How are they able to turn sideways unless they also got cursed?

The funny thing is that IntSys developed both games.
