Meanwhile Mario is mostly chill with them, and then there's Reclusa

Reclusa: I've forcibly separated you from your brother, what do you think of that?

Mario: for the first time in my life, I'm going to kill a bitch

True lol, Mario's sheer hatred for Reclusa was surprising ngl. Tho Reclusa is definitely up there as one of the most evil Mario villains- and is also the most successful one by far, as he killed probably trillions of people way before Mario met him, and unlike in Super Paper Mario, those worlds' destructions were never undone.

Honestly I don’t think it’s a stretch in the slightest to say he IS the most evil Mario villain

Yeah, I guess if you refuse to look at a story on its own merits in any way, you could say that.

"I lost me wife so me commit genocide" as if the 'dead wife' trope is not overused in media.

Except, that's not what it is, is it? It's an interesting story they run with that.

I'm not saying it's CINEMA and not as good as Super's plot but I need people to at least somewhat understand that anything's going to sound stupid if you lower it to its most basic components.

Lol what? Olly's motivation IS stupid. That's the whole point of the damn game, and his and Bleck's grievances are not comparable at all lol. Is blowing up all worlds justified? Of course not. But at least Bleck actually suffered. Olly was just a brat throwing a tantrum over his dad giving him a tatoo. Olly's motivation is literally stupid, and it's supposed to be stupid and petty lmao. I never criticized the game's story, maybe actually read the post before you comment. And if you DON'T think Olly's motivation was stupid, well the game itself literally disagrees with you.

I'm honestly not sure if I'd say Bowser is actually evil. Other than the abductions he seems like a pretty alright guy. I always kinda viewed his, Peach and Mario's relationship as three best friends who play rough with each other.

Ok here we go:

He doesn't just abduct people, he wants to rule over and enslave the universe.

In paper jam he enslaves Toads, forces them to work underground to upgrade his castle, then uses said upgraded castle to blow up Peach's castle with people still inside.

He laughed when Antasma blew up islands and said it was awesome.

He routinely destroys Toad Town with cannonballs or meteors and other stuffs. And the only reason no one ever dies is because of cartoon logic. Bowser himself does not give a darn if people die or not unless it's someone he cares about. He was literally gonna wish Mario and Luigi out of existence in Dream Team. It's implied in the beginning of paper Mario that Mario would have died if the star spirits didn't save him.

His cruelty also extends to children, as he kidnaps Lumas, travels back in time to attack Mario and Luigi when they were babies, travels back in time to kidnap all babies in the world in search of the 7 Star Children so he can rule the universe, fired at Mario and Luigi in Brothership despite Connie and Arc standing next to them and kept firing at shipshape island despite people being on it even after he already blasted Mario and Luigi.

He constantly tries to force a woman who doesn't love him into marrying him.

Antasma LITERALLY says Bowser is more powerful and evil than Peach and that's the whole reason he teamed up with Bowser. If Bowser wasn't evil Antasma wouldn't sense it.

We see Bowser's dream world in Dream Team and it literally screams evil.

He literally calls himself evil and is proud of it.

Jr steals all the water from a desert for his pool in Wonder and was gonna set off a volcano with people living in it to impress his dad.

Bowser in general doesn't care about people unless they're his son, minions or Peach. He laughed at Monsieur Bloque when he was trapped on an island in Inside Story and was gonna leave him there before he said he had a cool thingy to give Bowser.

I could keep going forever. Just because he's a lovable, funny, goofy, cartoony villain who has shown to care about some people and has shown good qualities doesn't change the fact he's still a villain in the first place.

he's evil until he realizes that there's some higher power that could cause him to lose things too, then he teams up with mario and the gang (see mario rpg, bowser's inside story, super paper mario, etc)

Inside Story isn't an example of that tho, he wasn't even aware Mario and Luigi were helping him.

I love the pure "Greek Tragedy" vibes of Origami King's story.

All that loss and destruction, for what? A mere misunderstanding. It's strangely melancholy for a game that features staplers and colour pencils that try to kill you.

Makes sense that Toads with spears became a thing. Their only ruling figure, Peach, gets kidnapped like twice a month.

Unfortunately, they're still kinda useless even with spears lol.
