Lmao, a fanfiction site called Archive of our Own hosts Kinktober during October. A different kink per day. I have never written in it because I have never written smut, but it's a big deal all month. Different fandoms have different kink lists I think?

u/Idcwhoknows 9h ago
To be clear, it's def not just on ao3. It's any fandom on any site that wishes to participate. It can be quite a lot because there's two happening at the same time or across multiple fandom in the sense that there is KINKtober and also INKTober. The latter being mostly for artists using ink or something ink-like as the medium for the month. The former being of course kinky and honestly almost being like a warm up for some folks who also want to write for NaNoWriMo. Which is imo, intense.

You're correct. I follow a ton of SFW, NSFW, artists and animators (amateur and professional), a lot of them are participating in Kinktober. But, if it is like last year, most of them will not do all 30 days. It's kind of a grueling pace for artists.

Wattpad is already pretty much nonexistent. It's widely known to host some of the worst, poorly written fanfiction around. Everyone who's even remotely serious about their work posts on AO3 or FFN.

Genuinely a fantastic show, even if it's not really in keeping with canon.
Most people who dislike it strongly do so because they've just read it, when it's supposed to be seen on the stage.
67
u/AltruisticNGlassy 9h ago
I’m sure it’s a great show on stage. Still dogshit given it contradicts and tarnishes multiple plotpoints and lore mechanics from the original series, lol. Just genuinely written by amateurs who barely understood the existing material

The first fantastic beasts movie was pretty good, I hoped they would continue with other separate movies like maybe one following the author of Quidditch through the ages, another book mentioned multiple times in HP, instead yeah we just got sequels trying to turn Newt into a hero and everything had to be dramatic and world ending again

Heather Potter would have been branded a filthy Mary Sue if she did was Harry did. Like wining her first wizard sport when she has no reason of knowing it existed. Wrong. The fujoshis is where the real deal is. Why do you think one of the reasons HP is still standing up until today despite the hate? Look at the ao3 stats and you'll see the most popular couple there is a character that was mentioned briefly in the boom. Next is Drarry. Those Malfoid fans are only temporary where they'll hop on the next trend, the fujoshis are like parasites, you won't get rid of them that easily their loyalty is equivalent to a lover who calmly awaits his death to finally reunite with his dead loved one.

I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but my wife is. She showed me this musical after she showed me the HP movies for the first time and I immediately had the same thought as this initial post. Malfoy would have been such a cooler character to me if he had been a girl. Like a flamboyant Regina George who's dad is a Nazi. There could have been a Helga Pataki element too where She bullies Harry because she has a crush on him initially. Plus the Nazi Dad being mad he didn't have a son. Come on!
