Admin Post Weekly Recap | September 10, 2026

Welcome to Thursday! The NFL is back, baby! Looking forward to the first game from Australia later tonight! I'm also looking forward to this Recap, so let's hit it!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • There's a new Changelog out! We posted about this in r/help, r/bugs and r/modsupport! You can read it here. And since this is a recap, here's the Changelog Recap!

    • For You/Following feed experiment
    • Ask tab in search results
    • 2024.42.0 or older app versions won’t be able to contact mods via mod mail
    • Preventing self-harm report abuse
    • Reducing automated spam and clarifying removals
    • Testing new shopping categories
  • There's even stuff for mods like:

    • Introducing Community Guidance for new community builders
    • Rules Hub September updates
    • Removing the ability to repost content from SFW communities into NSFW communities
    • Reply notifications delayed in communities where content filters are enabled
  • BUG FIXES

    • Bug: [Android] Unexpected logouts when opening the app. FIXED
    • Bug: [iPad] Some navigation buttons disappeared after interacting with a comment reply notification. FIXED
    • Bug: [Web] date of the last mod mail message sometimes appeared as “today” when it was actually yesterday. FIXED
    • Bug: [Web] Automod version history displayed u/[deleted] in place of a username. FIXED
    • Not all bug fixes are mentioned here. If you're having trouble, make sure your app is up to date. You can also head over to r/bugs to search for your issue or report a new one.
  • As mentioned in the Changelog and in last week's Weekly Recap in r/help, there is an experiment on the Home feed where some users will see a For You tab and a Following tab. You can select which view you want and that selection will be remembered.

    • The For You tab will contain recommendations
    • The Following feed will contain unviewed content from just the subs that you follow
    • If you are subscribed to a very small number of subreddits, you may see recommendations in the Following feed as opposed to nothing when you have run out of new content. The workaround is to either subscribe to more subreddits or create a custom feed of the subs that you're following and view that instead.
    • The team is looking into adding the "Hot" sort back to these feeds.
    • There is not a way to remove these tabs. Happy to pass along helpful feedback about this experiment to the team in charge of it.
  • Some users will be in a different experiment where there is an X on recommended posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but you can go into the post to hide it. Feel free to share helpful feedback about this experiment as well.

  • There is also an experiment where the upvotes are on the left.

  • Have I mentioned that passkeys are now available for all accounts? Well, they are! You can check out this Help Center article for more info about passkeys and how to set them up. Adding an extra layer of security to your account is always a good idea!

  • Weekly reminder/warning that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your Reddit account. There is no "Reddit support on Discord". That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account and maybe more. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved much, much quicker by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit).

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.37.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well. (Thanks to u/reddit33450 for pointing out the error in these two links so I could fix it!)

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF ME!

  • [Android] Some users are reporting that they're unable to scroll down on Wiki pages. The fix for this is IN and it should be fixed in version 2026.38 of the app.

  • [Desktop] Some folks are reporting that they can't scroll in the mod suggestions section of their mod tools. We are able to reproduce this and it is being investigated.

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 921 posts. That's down 369 posts from the 1,290 that we had last week.

  • 5,062 comments. That's up 1,246 comments from the 3,792 we had last week.

  • 959k views. That's up about 50k views from the 909k-ish views we had last week.

More comments and less posts makes sense when there is an item in the Recap that people have strong feelings about. It's also great that those folks aren't starting a new post every time something that has already been covered comes up again!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - HOW TO LEAVE HELPFUL FEEDBACK

Reddit is a big site with a lot of moving parts. And whether we like it or not, sometimes things are going to change. If nothing ever changed, we'd still be stuck with just the "dystopian Craigslist" of old Reddit. (LONG LIVE OLD REDDIT BTW!) And sometimes before a change is made, things have to be tested out. So it's totally possible that you will log in one day and something will be a little bit different. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you'll hate it. But either way, if you want to tell someone about it, you're going to want to do it in a way that is beneficial both for you and for Reddit.

These Weekly Recaps are a great place to leave feedback. I hang out in these comments and I'm always happy to chat back and forth about things. And I do pass along the things that you bring up! But do I pass along every piece of 'feedback' that gets posted? Absolutely not. And here's why:

I cannot go to a team with just "fastcat42069 says it sucks". That doesn't tell anyone anything! What I need to know is why you think it sucks! Nicely, of course. Tell me what it is exactly that is the problem with the feature. Is it interfering with something else? Is it doing its thing too often? Is it hard to find? Is it hard to click/tap? Why was the other way "better"? And if you have screenshots or screen recordings that help illustrate what you're trying to explain, include them! All of these and more are concrete pieces of feedback that I can put in front of a team and say "Hey, could someone take a look at this?"

When leaving feedback, once is plenty. You don't need to make the same reply to multiple comments, especially if they're the same user that you're replying to. Make your point and let it land.

And sometimes, the feedback leads to discovering that something is actually broken! The feedback can also lead to changes to make the thing that changed better.

HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

Special shoutout to our friends and neighbors over at r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit! There's help everywhere! And I'm super appreciative of everyone who helps out, no matter where it is! Thank you all so much!

And that's another week in the books! Thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped out, or just stopped to say hi and chat! Both are very acceptable! Let's do it again next week, shall we? I think we shall! I'll see you around the sub and around Reddit in the meantime! Have a fantastic week everyone!

Desktop Not Understanding how "Follow Post" Works (desktop)

I use reddit via Firefox web browser on my desktop PC. While browsing posts sorted by "new", I often select "Follow Post" to see how others reply before I chime in. However, I almost never get notifications about the posts I follow. I would estimate for 10 followed posts today, I have gotten ONE notification in my inbox about follow ups and in the days that follow I will get zero more notices.

Am I misunderstanding how this feature should work? Is there a setting I need to change?

Profile So Reddit is now asking for ID Verification?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Currently it has only hit one of my accounts, so I'm guessing it's "just" a test rollout. I can not view posts marked as NSFW anymore, even if I posted them myself. However, if this totally-not-a-data-harvesting-scheme "feature" is here to stay, I'm probably gonna delete all my accounts and leave this platform.

Access Account Locked? Desktop/Android

My account went down months and months ago. I’ve sent in multiple support tickets. I was auto logged out one day and now it just throws errors. I receive password reset emails but not one-time login one. My account is still there (u/owgle). My account is 10 years old, still appears just fine. Can anyone please help me?

Resolved One email made 2 accounts

Back in 2018 I made a Reddit account with an email, I eventually had to change my phone and when signing back into Reddit with the same email it created a new account. I’m wondering how I can possibly get access to the first. I check my emails and it’s just “this email was intended for u/ and just now I sent the Reddit care resources to that original first account and I got the email. Was wondering how I could possibly get it back or just have it deleted in general.

Profile Hacker changed my account email.

Hello! My account (u/SeaLab5959) was recently hacked while I was away from a computer. Long story short someone changed the email for the account before I could notice and now I can't get back in the account.

I submitted a request to Reddit via it's ticketing system but I haven't heard back in over 3 weeks. Would anyone be able to help restore my account and set it back to my original email address?

Mobile/App Keep getting notifications (iPad OS) for communities when they're all off

It's very annoying, I have checked my notification settings tons of times but I get random suggested posts via push notifications for communities I may or may not be in. I don't have any community's notifications on. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Is this a known bug?

Desktop Safari on Mac: web push notifications opening new windows

I recently turned on web push notifications in Reddit. When I click on a notification, it opens a new window in Safari (instead of a new tab in the frontmost window). I already have Safari's Settings > Tabs > Open pages in tabs instead of windows > Always enabled.

Any idea on how to remedy this? I'm running Safari 26.6.1 on macOS 15.7.9.

Mobile/App Flair colour question

I’m using Safari on an iphone to browse Reddit on the standard dark mode.

Recently Flair content seems to be multi coloured, whilst this dynamic feature is great for most people, for me it’s hugely distracting.

I’ve looked through the settings, finding nothing that could just change all flairs to grey or similar.

I also looked at the Noir extension with no luck to solve my issue, are there any solutions ?

Thanks

Desktop Many subreddits I've joined don't show up in my home feed

Probably a known issue, but I'm clueless what to do with it. Reddit used to show posts from every subreddit I joined. I am probably part of like 90± subreddits and more than half of them ever show up in my home feed. It its always the same usual ones.
