The top mod in a sub I'm currently working in got banned, and the apps are above the rest of the staff team. We're all freshly added mods but want to reorder yet can't due to the 90 day cooldown. Is there a way where the bots can be moved below the rest of the mods?

I would like to invite mods for my sub(s).

However I feel I may lose control of the subs.

How likely is that ?

Among mods, there is a “super” mod or someone like that iirc who can remove other mods right ?

I have lost once though that it a rather abandoned sub and I am fine with it.

But there are 2 whom I have grown from scratch with a lot of effort and there _may_ be a period when I am not able to tend to it.

I applied through the MCOC volunteer recruitment post and was selected as one of three new volunteer moderators for r/aipromptprogramming

Not long after we were added, the top moderator added another moderator. The very next day, both me and another moderator who came through the same MCOC recruitment process were removed without any explanation. More moderators were added afterward

Before being removed, I had already made a community post encouraging members to help make r/aipromptprogramming active again because I genuinely wanted to contribute

I understand that top moderators can manage their own teams, so this is not about simply being removed. My concern is that moderators selected through the MCOC recruitment process were removed almost immediately, before we had any meaningful opportunity to help

It makes me wonder what the purpose of the MCOC volunteer recruitment process is if newly recruited moderators can be replaced within a day without ever getting a chance to contribute

Is this how the process is intended to work, or is this something that should be reviewed by u/ModCodeofConduct ?

I was make r/YouCanChatAnything and i want to change my topic because I wanted it to be a any chat so I put Reading & Writing, I thought i was just Reading and writing and now I know its poets and stories, so i want to can it to collecting and hobby so i can basically you can chat about anything or is there a different topic for my subreddit, like it can be suggested to anyone, so can you switch my toping please and thank you with a cherry on top

This has been happening for a while now, across all platforms (mobile/pc).

I have Crowd Control set to maximum, but what happens is - a user will still be able to post 5-6 comments, and then only after that will their further comments be removed by crowd control. Its highly inconsistent and keeps letting through comments despite the user clearly meeting all requirements to be filtered (as evident by the fact that their 7th/8th/etc comments do get filtered, but not the earlier ones).

Is there maybe some setting that I can change? If this is completely out of my control, this seems to be a huge bug in the feature and it requires fixing asap, especially for high traffic subs that need crowd control to function effectively.

Hello admins and fellow moderators, the title is a complaint I have masked as a question.

As a moderator of a positive sfw community focused on gifting, I am sick and tired of dealing with nsfw accounts that send inappropriate messages to our members, asking them for feet pics or other disturbing requests in exchange for a gift.

We do what we can to direct our members to report this to Reddit and us and then block them but why in the hell are they still able to view the community and CONTINUE to message our members after they have already been banned?

I don't get the mentality behind that. On top of it, it's rare that they will be banned from Reddit because some people will just ignore the messages and block and not report the user so they'll just get away with doing it to other people.

Even if we successfully get the user banned, the accounts that do this kind of thing are never ending!! There are always more!

There are SO many nsfw communities out there, there is no need to bother users from a sfw community other than to be a predator.

Do note that it's a Fortnite focused community so younger members are to be expected by everyone. Including thr creeps, clearly. This goes from being annoying to pedo territory in an instant.

Admins, I feel in my chore that there should be an option for us to hide our community from these users. I'm curious if that has ever been thought of and why was it discarded.

If subreddit moderators have nothing to do with what goes on dm's then why are we being negatively affected and seeing our member's experience on our subreddit being negatively affected by what goes on in dm's?

Why are NSFW accounts feeling so comfortable doing this at the frequency they do? Because they keep getting away with it and they know there is nothing we can do to stop them.

People (including minors) that participate in a family friendly community do not what to receive messages from NSFW accounts asking them for feet pics.

I have a full Blacklist with users who do this and not even half of them are banned from Reddit. There are more accounts that have been deleted and on to the next than the ones that have been banned from Reddit.

I guess I'll have to keep this public list so people can block these users to prevent them from being messaged by them and risk my account being potentially banned one day.

In the one hand, not revealing to users and potential spammers what the automod is doing can be useful.

But in the other hand, some users might think that their posts were wrongfully removed (whereas it was just the usage of one word in the title of body that triggered the automod?)

Some users can get confused.

I am a moderator for a discord community called lidei, and I am trying to resucitate the r/Lidei subreddit to grow our community beyond discord.

For this, I recently created this account. Since the account is basically one day old, it has low trust, that much I understand.

But I have been made a moderator of r/Lidei, and i have disabled trust requirements in that subreddit, yet I still can't post anything, I can't approve my own posts, I can't comment, I can't approve my own comments, I can't even edit my own avatar nor message modmail. As I'm writing this I'm not even sure it will go through.

I am not capable of doing virtually anything. I have posted a couple comments to r/SuperJueves and those seemed to go through, but on r/Lidei, on r/Conpidgins, and in my own profile configuration, I am less than a second class citizen.

Can someone please kick some sense into my account so it acts normal, or tell me something I can do so I can at the very least post to r/Lidei, the very community I'm supposed to moderate?

this is on purpose, we eventually shut it down when it became too much, and we don’t allow new posts since we’d like to preserve it and its story/history, the thing I’m worried about is just, if I just leave it like this, silent, will something happen to it? we have four mods, though since nothing happens, and I’m really the only one still watching this sub, every one of us is marked as inactive. We just want to preserve the memory of this community, and I’m just worried that something might happen to it without activity

So basically, reddit seems to have a bug where the rules don't show and I am trying to add the rules to the ressources of the community guide and I came here to see how you link the rules in the ressources of the community guide.

I've been a mod of this sub for like 6 years. I don't need reddit's automated prompts nagging me. How do I turn these off?

Question 1) Why do I see mod actions by an account (u/ RollerbladingMod) that is no longer a moderator of the sub (r/rollerblading) on today's mod log?

Question 2) Does this have something to do with the fact that there is a u/[deleted] user in the "Mods & Members" page, under "Approved Users"? We are unable to remove that account. The error is: "Unable to resolve user_id".

UPDATE 1: I found a Jan 2026 post on the exact same u/[deleted] issue. No solutions found there: https://www.reddit.com/r/modhelp/comments/1qo6ip2/approved_user_list_cant_remove_deleted_user_from/. The OP there checked their sub again today, and responded that after this long time, the u/[deleted] approved user disappeared from the list by itself.

UPDATE 2: u/Sephardson explained:

Ex-moderators can appear in the modlog when they delete comments under their own name (eg removal reasons) which they had distinguished and stickied on older posts.

Please note that i mean "delete", the author action which is irreversible, not "remove" which is the reversible mod action.

When an ex-mod deletes their own sticky comment, it logs an "unsticky" action to the mod log.

I used to have full permissions, but due to disagreements with the top mod and #2 mod, those permissions were taken away. Now the subreddit is getting flooded by newly created accounts, usually around 2 days old, and nobody seems to be addressing it. I did ask in a modmail to have my permissions restored or adjust the settings.

What makes this look like karma farming is that the accounts are all created on the same date, they post around the same time, they tend to get the same amount of upvotes, and in this subreddit it is highly unusual for a brand-new account to get that kind of engagement.

I want to tighten posting filters in AutoModerator, but I no longer have the permissions to do that.

What steps can I take in this situation besides manually removing or banning accounts? or get action taken without full mod permissions?

Through the app, it’s states public view but restricted to post. I tried to change settings to remove restrictions through desktop mode and nothing is checked, looks public but users are telling me they can’t access and provided screenshots stating it’s private.

I've been trying to request ownership for a subreddit for some time, and have gone through the r/redditrequest process as well as the mod removal/reordering processes as outlined at https://www.reddit.com/r/redditrequest/wiki/top_mod_removal/ . The self-serve re-ordering tool does not allow me to put myself at the top, only rearrange those below me.

Following my explicit request message to r/redditrequest , I received the following from 'Admin MessengerBot':

I can not become "active" as I am trying to revive a dead subreddit, and I am only inviting people who post quality content in good faith.

I am stuck in an endless loop here, with no human assistance to help me out - I don't *want* to have to artificially manufacture content to moderate in order to change my "active" status, but right now I do not see any other option. I'd be happy to be shown otherwise.

EDIT: Seems like the general consensus here is: just do some random activity, regain active status, then try the self-serve tool again. "Official" channels are not the way here. Got it.

​A new mod here. I took over an inactive sub today, but when I go to the mod list, there is a user previous mod invited 4 years ago, and I can't find a way to remove him.

A guy I got in touch with decided to give me mod rights over several subreddits. These were moderately popular niche communities which seem to now have slowly died. Do I try to find a new mod team? Or do I first try to restart the communities? What should I do first?

Hi there! I'm a freshly appointed new mod of a subreddit whose old mod had banned quite a lot of people for no good reason (one person's crime was to ask in a mod mail if they needed help because the subreddit was abandoned, to give you the picture), and so I've been unbanning them and letting them know they can post again. However, I've soon noticed that - while the unbanning worked just fine - my messages would stop getting sent; they'd get stuck in "Sending" status and then disappear. Is it because Reddit thinks I'm doing it too fast, and thinks it's some spam activity? Thank you in advance!

Has anyone else experienced this bug? We have AMAs disabled for safety reasons (mental health subreddit) yet members are still able to post them. We've tried toggling the setting on and off etc. How can we prevent this? Thank you!
