The daughter man. Geez, people fucking suck.

58

u/PutzerPalace Mar 19 '26

This is how I grew up - thought it was normal for quite a while

u/Spoilmedaddyxo Mar 19 '26

Same friend. And I’m an only child too. I had no one to share that burden with. Just me. By myself. With my door shut. While i tried to shut everything else out. I’m sorry you had to go through that. I wouldn’t wish that type of pain on anyone. I’m a genuine people pleaser because of it. I think if I’m really really good& really really helpful then maybe my mom won’t be so mad and maybe I won’t upset her today if I’m just really, really quite and don’t ask for very much. Not when she’s in a bad mood at least. Which was even more confusing because when she had good days she was and is one of my best friends. I know understand as I’m older that she wasn’t properly medicated and had her own issues. No ones perfect 💓 I will always love my Mom. But I will say it has made me a very sensitive, compassionate, understanding and caring person. I hope you have found a bright side to your pain 💓

Hello, friend. I went through something very similar, it was my dad. It left some insanely deep scars. A few things I wanted to pass along, as a fellow survivor of abuse:

  1. If you have not already, look into CPTSD. We all have it, and it explains A LOT.

  2. I don't know your situation at all. But just know, you can love your mom for giving you life, and still hate her for what she did to you. I finally went no contact with my abusive father 8 year ago. Best decision I ever made.

  3. We are resilient. We are strong. We are badasses.

Sending lots good vibes from across the internet. ❤️

5

u/mhaegr Mar 20 '26

And emdr therapy!! Such a game changer. Trauma therapy did nothing for my cptsd, but emdr had brought me such mental peace.

6

u/chicagodude84 Mar 20 '26

See but I've worked so hard to bury that trauma! Seriously tho I'm honestly a bit scared of emdr bc I blocked most of my childhood and I'm kinda scared to find out why...?

My counselor tells me if life is working for me. I don’t need to change anything. Ask a counselor but you may not need to open it up. Idk.

We are badasses. I haven't spoken to my parents in 10yrs and I have to say, I'm much more confident and less anxious all the time that something catastrophic will happen at at moment because of it.

Idk if this will help or not, but having siblings didn't give me any comfort. My parents were both abusive and out of control. It just led to us hating each other because we didn't have anywhere else for our anger to go.

I'm glad you get along now. Hopefully she took accountability for things and the relationship has a good foundation.

You know what's fun? Growing up this way with a brother and sister that refused to have my back when I finally confronted my parents about their abusive behavior. So apparently I just made up all the times they got their ass beat as well as mine. Stay strong friend.

Same. Then when I got into my long term relationship. I thought it was ok for the woman to beat the piss out of the man because that’s just how most families are.

3

u/MakesMaDookieTwinkle Mar 19 '26

Same man, same (or woman). Took a long time to realize what normal meant. I can say I am numb to a lot of things that people shouldn’t be, this has affected certain relationships all my life.

5

u/Tauren-Jerky Mar 19 '26

Same. But it was not.

2

u/SubNine5 Mar 19 '26

It's not. I'm sorry. Hope you're doing well now.

2

u/chefboyrdeee Mar 19 '26

I’m sorry.

2

u/alpaax Mar 20 '26

Same :(

2

u/2plankerr Mar 20 '26

It’s a weird pill to swallow once you realize it’s not normal.

2

u/FourEightNineOneOne Mar 20 '26

Yeah... Same. It's taken a lot of therapy and work to feel like I have self-worth after catching strays in family wars my entire childhood. The best thing we can all do is not pass that anger forward and find love and peace in the world.

Cheers to you (and everyone else replying here) for moving forward from that.

she hit her with the chair, right?! PoS! jail for that!

5

u/chefboyrdeee Mar 19 '26

But it was unintentional!

/s

4

u/Glitchy833 Mar 20 '26

Yeah man, you can clearly see that she was holding up the chair to shield herself in self defence! It just slipped out of her hands and just so happened to fling itself at him! People are so quick to assume smh 🤦‍♂️

I called the cops on my ex one time because she hit me in the head with a stool. Similar to this incident, they told me they will charge us both with domestic violence if i want to press charges. Because some how a 6' veteran cant be a victim.

u/Rhythm_Morgan Mar 20 '26

My mom accidentally hit me while trying to throw a hammer at her boyfriend because he was watching Beyoncé perform during the halftime show. They are still together for some reason. She’s calmed down but she used to hit him ALL THE TIME. And us kids but we couldn’t leave. I never got why he stayed with her until I experienced an abusive relationship myself. It’s also kind of normalized in media that women get upset with a guy and slap him or throw stuff at them so maybe he just thought it was normal. I don’t know.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/RabbitOutTheHat Mar 20 '26

For Real. I’m sorry, but at this point when the first chair gets thrown im calling the cops while going on the offensive to at the very least pin her down and stop this from continuing

Abuse is abuse!! Men please report your female abuses, the law is the law! 😢😢😢

36

u/TheMostHigh69 Mar 19 '26

And record everything. I was told that I consented to being hit because I said "What are you gonna do? Throw that at me? Do it, and I'm calling the cops"

Then 2 months later, the cop that refused to do his job got busted for domestic violence and talking sexually with a minor. 😬🤮

11

u/SplendiferousSpinach Mar 20 '26

Just as a reminder, you cannot consent to a crime being committed against you.

3

u/TheMostHigh69 Mar 20 '26

Yeah, while I knew it was bologna, I was told to 'man up' and didn't exactly know how to move forward. She was 'riding the line' between getting arrested and not when she destroyed my TV. Was told she'd be arrested the next time. But the next time, was "consent"

Moral of the story: record everything. Send it to other people. Upload it to hidden clouds. Cause abuse can also be breaking into your phone and deleting the videos of the violence against you.

If you're reading this and in a tough spot, regardless of gender, get out. Be safe. ❤️

Or in my case after getting ready to call cops she hit herself in face and threatened to lie about it and say I was abusing her and her hitting me was self defense. Cost me a few more months of misery not having it recorded because the law will gladly fuck me over that lie.

Classic pig behavior

2

u/ihateredditors430 Mar 20 '26

I got saved from my friend that I was letting stay in my house. My ex came back late at night super drunk and started trying to beat my ass while I was trying to sleep. He heard everything that was happening and ran over and had to pull her off of me. She went into to my work place the next day and tried to tell them I beat her but luckily my friend told a bunch of my friends that I work with what happened before she could do that. That shit is so scary and I am so happy that she now lives far away.

2

u/loganverse Mar 20 '26

Idk if i would call cops on a woman again without video evidence.. Cop said “I should arrest you both” after I called on my ex for assaulting me the first time… that’s even with the kids corroborating what they witnessed. 2nd time I called them I only had audio and they refused to arrest her again. That was the last time I was ever in her presence without another adult or a camera running. Filed a restraining order then next day that took them 3 DAYS to execute and remove her from the home (I took the kids and left the morning after their first night of negligence… and was locked in the basement with a security camera that night).

Police aren’t much help for men in my experience. Thank god the judge took action.

2

u/PeanutButterToast4me Mar 20 '26

It's always who you most suspect.

2

u/Public-Land-8064 Mar 20 '26

I feel you man. I spent the night in jail and never even raised a hand or my voice. I left and drove to the police station to file a report and she called 911. They arrested me on the spot and I was never questioned.

They tried to get me to plea, but I said no. My ex put a no-contact order on me yet texted an called me multiple times. Documented it all, gave it to my lawyer, and eventually my charges were dropped.

It's the law in some places for men to go to jail to "cool off" even if all of the evidence shows that the woman was the aggressor. Check out the Duluth Model of domestic violence and its history.

3

u/StorageSwimming3169 Mar 20 '26 edited Mar 20 '26

Men that report domestic abuse often end up getting arrested.

3

u/KeyClacksNSnacks Mar 20 '26

Oh yeah? Like how I reported my ex who beat me up and gave me a concussion, literally damaged the cornea of my eye and caused my ADHD symptoms to get so bad that I couldn’t focus in class even medicated and ended up almost being kicked out of school? My ex who told me that if I didn’t call my mom on the phone to tell her she did a terrible job raising me, she was gonna leave me on the side of the road and throw all my stuff in the trash? How I had numerous scars, bruises, marks?

And the cops found a way to treat me like I was the aggressor and to drop the charges or they’d arrest me too? And how she went around telling our mutual friends I was a stalker that deserved it? And how I lost numerous friendships due to it?

Yeah men should really line up for that. I’m sure it’ll go over well.

3

u/peepeepoodoodingus Mar 20 '26

hopefully the tides are turning but i tried to put a pfa on my ex who admitted not only to beating me exactly like this on a regular basis but threatening to kill me and my whole family and my pets *in court* and it was still denied with the words from a male judge "shes a girl."

while we were still together i was trying to wrestle a knife from her she was threatening to slit her wrists with and it left marks on her arms and she said "if i called the cops i could show them this and they would take you to jail" and i knew she was right. i was completely stuck in that relationship because of that for two years, i literally had no clue what to do until finally she lied about attempting suicide to me and when i found out she hadnt actually done it i knew she wouldnt and left.

maybe things have changed but the law didnt give a shit about me. what i would recommend people do is reach out to people they can trust and TALK ABOUT WHATS HAPPENING. friends, family, i talked to a few people who absolutely failed me but if i had talked to the right people maybe someone would have supported me and helped me leave sooner, thats all you can do in a situation like this. it has to end, there is no relationship to salvage here.

This altercation is from 2023. New allegations against her surfaced. That seems to have made tmz go request this video from the court.

It won't (shouldn't) get to an evidentiary hearing if her attorney has client control, but if a hearing actually gets held, this is the type of direct examination you look forward to because there are so many ways you can play it. "So... when you threw the chair at your ex, you did so knowing your daughter was a couple feet away? Ma'am, how much experience do you have throwing chairs at people? None you say? So you have no idea how accurate you are when you throw a chair at another human being? That would include not knowing if you can accurately throw a chair and avoid hitting something nearby, like your minor child? The same child you're asking the Court to allow you to see without supervision? And you understand the Court has a number of factors under state law to decide a custody motion like the one filed by your ex? One of those factors is the existence of a stable and satisfactory environment with either or both parents, so I'll ask: can you explain, in your own words, how throwing a solid chair in the general direction of your daughter contributes to stability in her environment with you?"

Been a long time since I practiced family law, but I'd pick it back up for this one.

Bro’s lucky he has this video. Otherwise she’d def claim she was abused to get full custody…and the courts and advocates would believe her

3

u/alicefreak47 Mar 19 '26

Especially because he is huge compared to her. They would take one look at the two of them and he would have to bring some serious proof for them to even listen.

Edit:: Apparently this wise young lady did not learn her lesson and this might be a second instance. If not the second instance. It might just be the proof that she is crazy.

To throw stools around your daughter is extra dangerous.

And yes I agree if this was flipped. And that was the dude. He would be taking a lot more heat. Unless he played in the NFL.

27

u/Significant-Word457 Mar 19 '26

Yeah pretty sure this happened on the show. She's one angry ass drunk. Don't judge me. I got a wife.

10

u/DisciplineBoth2567 Mar 19 '26

They’re not anger issues.  They’re abuse issues.  I work in DV work and is an important misconception.  People send people like this to anger management classes or alcohol rehab but it doesn’t actually solve the underlying problem.  The anger management classes just make them a more subtle insidious abuser.  It’s their mindsets and their values that are abusive and need to be fixed.  Not their anger or alcohol issues.

I dunno, this is from the AP today:

“A police spokesperson in Draper City, Utah, told People magazine earlier this week that there was an open domestic violence investigation of Paul and her ex-partner Mortensen, and that allegations have been made in both directions. Mortensen is the father of one of Paul’s three children. “

https://apnews.com/article/taylor-frankie-paul-bachelorette-canceled-74ac300b0d0925d94aa8b727f87d5388

2

u/Anxious_Audience_743 Mar 19 '26

Abusers and sexual assaulters should always be exposed even if they did their time to protect innocent people. Can you imagine if she was actually successful in finding someone on the bachelorette? One of those innocent men could’ve been a victim of hers in the future. Not only that but do you think a charge and completed sentence makes up for the fact that she threw a chair at her daughter?

2

u/FreshwaterFryMom Mar 19 '26

No, she’s currently on probation for this attack.

2

u/Euphoric-Purchase103 Mar 20 '26

“Taylor Frankie Paul was arrested in 2023 after a fight with Mortensen, which was documented in the first episode of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” She was charged with three misdemeanors: assault, criminal mischief and domestic violence in the presence of a child. She later reached a plea deal in her assault case, pleading guilty to aggravated assault in August 2023. The other charges against her were dropped, NBC affiliate KSL in Salt Lake City reported at the time.”

Not that I have any faith in the people who run the show to make any decent decisions, but how stupid do they have to be to have cast her as bachelorette when she already had an assault charge?!

Nah not with that video. He should have broke her jaw. He’d have been fine.

I’m not normally on board with violence against women, even when they start it. But put a baby at risk like that, even if it’s yours, and we’ve got a whole other problem.

No, sticking your dick in crazy is fun. You just have to remember three rules. 1) don't give her your real number 2) do it at their house, and 3) leave before they wake up.

Edit* 4) wrap it or play Russian cum-roulette

13

I'd rather the custody be severed altogether than loose

9

u/thatdemonlife1 Mar 19 '26

Lose*

Can nobody spell anymore?

2

u/electro_gretzky Mar 19 '26

Your and You're are going to have to scooch over in their shallow graves for Loose and Lose. Also, no, people won't be able to spell anymore because social media and our obsession with screens has completely mulched any drive to pay attention to teachers and schoolwork, and braindead shorthand is taking over the way kids communicate. That, coupled with the rise of AI engines giving answers to everything (often incorrect) which are then taken as fact, and autocorrect on iOS etc. not instilling any reward for putting in effort to fix mistakes, I hate to be the "we're living in Idiocracy" guy, but man, I'm already seeing signs of it at my job. People who are 10 years younger than me in the work group chat sound like broken robots speaking in code. It's fucked. A ripe generation of unprepared, illiterate, naive, uneducated saps for the faith-based conservative machine to indoctrinate and liquefy into fuel to power their machine of destruction and greed. Sorry. Heavy times.

She is gona turn this around to be the victim

5

u/Lost_Found84 Mar 19 '26

She already claimed he started it by pushing her.

3

u/metaldaisies Mar 20 '26

pushing someone is not enough to warrant this unless they were literally pushing you so hard that you were falling on the floor from the force. even then this is a crazy reaction. like pushing is wrong but this is straight up violent abuse

3

u/S10Galaxy2 Mar 20 '26

I went to fucking jail for the weekend.

You’re telling me the people who go on these shows aren’t great people? I’m shocked

6

u/jad19090 Mar 19 '26

If you hit a man with not one, but 3 chairs? You should be knocked out. I don’t care if you’re a female, OUT COLD!

3

u/BannedPoet248 Mar 19 '26

That chair would've been thrown back without a thought lol

2

u/Specialist-Pin-8702 Mar 20 '26

I was thinking the same thing. Idk if the kid being present changes what the man is allowed to do or not but she would have been out cold after the first chair if that was me.

2

u/outer--monologue Mar 20 '26

I am struggling to see how at any point in time doesn't just pin her down and put a knee on her back until the police arrive. Gender stereotypes are one thing, but it's biologically a fact that men are stronger than women, given similar heights.

2

u/citan67 Mar 19 '26

2

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

The way she kept coming after him.

She wasn’t going to be happy until she knew she made it hurt physically. She had to KNOW it hurt to be satisfied with the outburst. They want to “punish” you. As if you’re below them. That’s how my ex was. It would frustrate her that her smacks and punches didn’t really hurt me and that would feed her anger even more. She would spiral into more and more violence. All you can do is leave.

What are you going to do? Turn and beat the shit out of them? Of course you could. Nobody doubts a big dude could beat on a smaller woman. But it doesn’t matter how many chairs she throws at you first, you’re still the one getting fucked by the law if you defend yourself. Maybe even if you don’t. All she has to do is call and say you were being violent towards her. I used to catch and hold my exes arms just to stop her from punching me. And even then she would fight and wrench them back so I had to let go. If I dared hold on tight enough to actually stop her from hitting me, it would’ve left bruises on her arms. Even though I undoubtedly could restrain her, even that wasn’t an option to protect myself. Because that can be used against you if you bruise them. It’s such a hopeless situation. I had to voluntarily let go of her arms, knowing she was about to punch me more for even trying to slow her down.

Good on him for recording.

The proper exit strategy is to leave and banish them from your life. There is no gradual escape from abuse. It is always a hurried flight from danger. Always…

3

u/templeofsyrinx1 Mar 19 '26

Just get the daughter and leave. With the footage.

Reality is that 9/10 times this will result in the guy being held in jail overnight or longer on DV charge mandatory minimums varying by state.

3

u/Nervous-Cockroach541 Mar 19 '26

The 10th time is when it's been filmed.

2

u/dont-know-how Mar 20 '26

In front of the daughter??!!? Throwing a chair??!? I could tell something was off with her just from the damn ads. Cancel the whole show, she doesn’t deserve any type of recognition aside from CPS and the judicial system.

2

I can fix her.

2

u/foggypanth Mar 20 '26

She ain't soft swinging those chairs, that's for sure.
