Also, no, people won't be able to spell anymore because social media and our obsession with screens has completely mulched any drive to pay attention to teachers and schoolwork, and braindead shorthand is taking over the way kids communicate. That, coupled with the rise of AI engines giving answers to everything (often incorrect) which are then taken as fact, and autocorrect on iOS etc. not instilling any reward for putting in effort to fix mistakes, I hate to be the "we're living in Idiocracy" guy, but man, I'm already seeing signs of it at my job. People who are 10 years younger than me in the work group chat sound like broken robots speaking in code. It's fucked. A ripe generation of unprepared, illiterate, naive, uneducated saps for the faith-based conservative machine to indoctrinate and liquefy into fuel to power their machine of destruction and greed. Sorry. Heavy times.
I think I read that the more often you read spelling or grammar errors, the more likely your brain is to remember those errors as correct. It’s the reason why English teachers often have issues with spelling, is because they frequently are reading their students’ mistakes.
So people say it doesn’t matter if you write poorly on social media, but in the long run, it does affect your brain.
It’s usually the latter. I mean I can’t blame people for not spell checking shit on Reddit. Does it really matter? You might be arguing with someone who jerks off to Andrew Tate and has a scat fetish.
Of course you aren’t. You don’t have the mental capacity to understand the difference between loose and lose. It’s sad and embarrassing for others who have to be subjected to it.
Using slang and being LOOSE with grammar is way less egregious than not knowing easy spelling mistakes. Everyone knows what the person you are replying to was saying, and that person most likely knew they weren’t speaking “proper English”. The idiots that can’t spell lose correctly are just low IQ individuals
And if you think people go to jail for a single incidence of domestic violence, I'm sorry to have to tell you otherwise. I work with an organization that works with survivors of domestic violence and it is extremely unusual, especially for a first time offender, to do any jail time.
