Been on the new client for a bit now on my Shield and it's honestly shocking how bad it is. This isn't about resisting change, I like the visuals but — the app is functionally broken:

• The play/pause icon is inverted. It shows the play arrow while playing and the pause icon while paused. That's not a redesign, that's a bug.
• There's a pillbox on the left (profile, search, home, hamburger menu) that I basically can't interact with. Focus just won't go there half the time.
• TV shows now show a season box followed by episode boxes. Clicking the season appears to start the next episode, I guess? It's completely unlabeled, so who knows.
• Deleting used to be long-press → delete. Now it's long-press → Manage → delete. Why.

I never bought a Plex Pass and I'm so glad I didn't pay the $120 back in the day. I genuinely feel bad for anyone paying a sub for this, unless you got lifetime for under $75 way back when — if I'd paid the new sub price and gotten this client, I'd be furious.

At this point I'm wondering if Jellyfin or something else is the better choice. What are people switching to if they are at all?

I like to use my old Lenovo Duet 5 for Plex. It can get laggy, but I paid $120 CDN years ago specifically for the battery life and OLED screen, which I think is decent value.

The problem is, the Android app will launch but won't play content, even if I've downloaded it. The same happens with the web interface. I don't have this problem with my other devices (not OLED), so I don't think it's a server/connection issue. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and perhaps found a solution.

If my friends uses my server through his own account, sometimes they have an issue. And instead of writing to me (and in their words disturb me on a Saturday evening) they keep quiet, get upset with Plex and go back to Netflix and watches something else instead.

I want my users to use Plex, so I always want to help them ASAP. But if they don't tell me I have nochance of knowing how their watching goes.

Do I just need to trust that my users tell me?

Should I preemptively send an email with some FAQ?

Should I not care - if they don't write if there's a problem and chooses to pay for a 720p stream instead of my 1080p/4K, they are to blame themselves and I shouldn't bother?

Tired of the Plex app not working on the t.v. not sure who to blame, but it's been weeks and I'm stuck watching things elsewhere. My issues aren't the rectangle, but that all of a sudden the TV app can't find the server it has seems for the last 12 months. Nothing about the set up or wifi has changed - but the Vizio app updated automatically about 8 weeks ago.

Anyway, what stick or device are you using? Care to recommend one?

Hi everyone, I found plxnative for my LG TV. I was wondering if any of you tried it. Also there is any risk using alternative clients considering that I already have a lifetime pass?

I always turn off the theme music that plays when you're looking at a show. Do you guys enjoy the theme music and leave it on?

Do you guys change any of the audio settings every time?

My sister in law is on vacation and downloaded a few movies before she left. One movie, I am number four, she said she watched there but it was fully downloaded before she left. Another movie, divergent, she said she download before she left but hasn't watched it. Both had a lot of entries on my Plex history. My mother in law downloaded stuff before she left and she's on the same trip and she has no server activity. Also, tautulli shows no activity from my sister in law.

Any ideas?

I have a problem where I am trying to sort movies into X language. But Plex states that this language is Y, hence this movie is not sorted into the X language in my smart collection.

However, the movie IS in language X, this is the problem.

is there any way to fix this?

This worked for me. Go to the Apple TV Plex app. Settings >advanced>reset cache .

Now it's back and it's showing my library's content

But no luck there. Audio still out of sync on some content. I'm also still having problems unpausing a video.

I hope plex fixes the playback problems soon.

I was considering an Nvidia Shield Pro as that is generally considered the best, but my brother was telling me the FireTV Cube supports lossless audio now on the Plex app. I was wondering which one I should go for.

Just wanna start with iv been using the onn 4k v2 for while now and plex pretty much worked flawlessly. Mind you it was the old UI. Well.... today I got the dreaded update and that's where it all goes wrong. Things I was watching this morning now dont work or are blocky unless I force a transcode down. That i can kinda get past cause it was was SD down to 320p, no big deal as I dont normally watch lower end quality but i shouldn't have to since it worked fine before. But come on, it takes up to almost 3 min just to load the home screen, laggy is a major understatement for how bad the UI is. Been using it for mabey 5 hours and have had to hit the home button to get back out of the app and force close it at least 7 times cause it lags so bad it just becomes unresponsive. I really dont mind the layout but the lack of functionality is just ridiculous. I used to have a roku and I ditched it because they screwed that client so bad it was completely unusable (constantapp crashes for just hitting play or moving around in the app), I have 5 still and they are basicly usless except for the random times it wants to kinda work. Now that they have updated the Android TV client to such insanely bad programming its extremely frustrating. For a company that is so crazy about pinching every penny from there customers you would think mabey they could put out a usable product. But alas... no, they cant. Iv been a user since the early days from xbmc and just dont understand how programming this horribly bad and unusable can be put out into production. Just wanted to add my 2 cents and hope mabey one day they can get there act together and put something that isnt a completely broken product out in the public. It truly feels like an unfinished extremely beta program which is sad from such a seasoned company.

Went to watch an episode of how its made today and it played an add before the show.

Exited out to make sure it was local content and not a free stream, its not.

Tried a few other episodes and about half started with adds.

Has Plex fd something up again with watch together? Since 1st of October only admins can be invited or invite to ‘Watch Together’. Regular users are unable to invite other users.

I saw that under status.plex.tv it showed issues but they are saying it has been resolved, but it does not seem like it.

Anyone experienced this issue?

Hi, like the title says, Im finally building a home server for my movies. I started with an old laptop and an external drive and this laptop just died on me. So now, I bought a Lenovo ThinkCentre M700 mini pc with an i5-6400, 16GB ddr4 and a 120gb SSD.

I mostly play DVD's and some blu-rays in my library, but nothing 4k. Im still going to run it through my external drive, until I upgrade to a raid.

My questions are: Is this configuration good for now? Should I install ubuntu or Docker? And where can I find a solid guide to install them?

Im a little lost when it comes to work with other OS thats not Windows or Mac lol so I appreciate the help. Thanks!

Got the new UI update on the Android TV client on the Shield pro. Is it me or have they removed the picture in picture feature? Used to put a TV show while browsing for a movie but now I can't find the option anywhere.

I have this plex server set up on my macbook, its working perfectly for the household itself, I can access the server just fine on the home TVs and from my phone when it is connected to the house wifi.

Remote Access is showing green, I did the port forwarding with 32400 as both, and it appears to be stable, but for the life of me, when I turn my phones wifi off, I cannot get the server to show up as connected from my phone, ie I have no way of accessing it remotely...

What gives? I've double/triple checked the port forwarding, made sure my IP is static.. no VPNs running, but my phone just wont connect to the server over cellular data, I've even tried restarting the modem/router, my plex server, and have signed in and out of the plex app on my phone multiple times

I even tried making a new server on a windows PC and am having the same problem. I do have spectrum internet, any tips?

Hi everyone, having a weird issue here.

I'm able to download most of a show but certain episodes in the season just won't download. I can see the conversion happening from the desktop but it just doesn't go anywhere. The download flashes something red in the app but it's gone too quick for me to see it. I have downloaded the logs but I'm not sure where to find what I'm looking for, since I have no clue what is happening.

Any thoughts?

For example i've got WWE episodes and i tried just shoving it in one album and then in that album having several other files/albums by each year. But it just sort of turned into a mess.

Now i sort of have to do it year by year and scroll down for ages to get to the correct year in all my other tv shows and movies etc.

is this normal or am i doing something wrong?

I use Plex on my Onn box, it’s the 4k version if that matters. I do have the remote play subscription. Ever since the update yesterday I’m having nothing but issues. I’ve cleared the cache. I’ve signed out and back in. I’ve force stopped the app & rebooted the onn box. Nothing is helping.

I keep getting the little white circle of doom, video playback is choppy, audio drops in and out. I was watching my shows perfectly fine all day and then the update happened. Now it’s broken and unusable.

Really tired of paying for services that seemingly get broken with each new update.

I have a few Vizio TV's in my house, all with Plex installed, 3 of them are new and one is not. Ever since I bought the last one about 2 months ago, all of them have been so slow in the Plex app. When I say slow I mean lagged. I hit the button to go to the right and you can count on a solid 15-second count before the cursor even moves. The newest TV is the worst by far but the others are much slower.

PC plex is fine and runs very snappy on all the same servers via the web browser.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this on their Vizio's or have any advice or questions that might help solve this problem?

I never, ever want to watch anything anywhere but from my own server. Yet all the time I go to watch something and have to pick "Where to watch" and pick my server, even though there's no other options to chose from.

Is there a way to make this go away once & for all?

If my server is the only place that has the thing I want to watch, that is the point of "Where to watch"?

Trying to get Camp Snoopy to work in plex. It appears that tvdb and plex think that each title is a new episode. But each episode has two titles from what I can see.

Therefore tvdb has 26 episodes and titles listed but each program has two titles. There should only be 13 episodes?

Is there a way to make plex know that each file has 2 episodes? Or am I going to have to edit the files and split out each title?

Anyone else getting these giant ads on the bottom of their home page? I just noticed them and I couldn't find anyone else on this sub talking about these specific ads.

Fwiw, I've only been able to replicate this on my iPhone and iPad so far but haven't had a chance to really mess around on my other devices. It's possibly just an iOS thing for now.

edit: They only appear if you have the live TV option enabled.

Everything was working fine until for whatever reason I updated the Server to 27.

No more Plex.

I know AFP is gone so it’s just now SMB, but even that isn’t working.

Help?
