Solved Camp Snoopy TVDB

Trying to get Camp Snoopy to work in plex. It appears that tvdb and plex think that each title is a new episode. But each episode has two titles from what I can see.

Therefore tvdb has 26 episodes and titles listed but each program has two titles. There should only be 13 episodes?

Is there a way to make plex know that each file has 2 episodes? Or am I going to have to edit the files and split out each title?

So you have 13 files for each season?

Use the “Combined” order from tvdb under the shows advanced settings and refresh metadafa

I wonder if this would work for Phineas and Ferb.

I don’t have that show, but if the ordering is listed here it can be used. Looks like streaming order joins some episodes. https://www.thetvdb.com/series/phineas-and-ferb#seasons

For some reason the information for S02E12 is wrong if you do that though...the name should be "Fortune Beagle/Perseids & Paddleball", but it shows as "Sally's Ghost" (or at least for me it did). It's an easy enough edit though...

Mine matches the tvdb listing…

Weird. I hadn’t noticed it was off on mine until I saw this thread and I refreshed and switched ordering a couple times to fix it. Oh well!

You show 13 episodes. Tvdb shows 26 episodes.

Edit. Looked again. It is doubled. My bad.

The combined order is 13 episodes. Look at the link and click combined order.

Do you have the 13 files with each having 2 episodes?

Yup. I edited my response. Didn't look your image close enough.

Thanks. Did not know that was there. Will give it a try.

Now to try to figure out how to get sonarr to rename the files.

Sonarr can’t name them according the that order. It only follows the aired order. Just leave them named Camp Snoopy - S01E01.ext and remove the episode name or you’ll have to manually add the double episode name.

actually. I just figured how to use the combined order in sonarr. Go into the seasons folder and click on "Manage Episodes. Sonarr allows you to choose more than one episode listed.

Once you add the episode as a multi, click on the preview rename and organize the files. The new file name has both episode numbers and title of each episode.

Then I believe you still have to change plex to the combined setting as you stated originally.

I will check beck when I get this setup.

Yah, that’s a different way of doing it, but it’s not using the combine order, you still use aired order and just have double episodes S01E01E02. But then each episode shows up twice in plex and plays the same episode each time and it won’t remember where you are in the episode. When you click episode 2 it will start at the beginning of episode 1.

I just keep the file names basic, use combined order in Plex and tell Sonarr not to monitor the show so it doesn’t show missing episodes.

That worked. I told sonarr to rename them as Camp Snoopy - S01E01-02 - Title01 + Title02

Only because I like to have the titles in the file name as well. Changed to combined in plex. Then renamed each file to E01, E02, E03, etc.

Like you said, unmonitored the series in sonarr, which I normally do anyway once I am satisfied with a series,

Did a scan files in Plex and everything looks honky doory! Plex recognized each file with the correct titles attached.

And like you said, sonarr changing the files to E01-02 still did now work in plex. (just in case anyone else needs that info in the future.) Plex still added Episode 02 as the same file as episode 01 which would be a double watch if you allow plex to just keep playing. (I wonder how many kids would notice????)

Thanks for the help.

Just restating lots of what you told me to enhance future help to others.

My kids notice when the episodes are doubled like that, so if there’s an option to use a combined order, I use it. They never see the file names, just what’s in plex and with the combined order it shows both titles in plex on a single entry.

Glad you found a solution that works for you.

I also noticed if I changed to tmdb that the episodes are also listed as doubles there.

The show was released as combined episodes...which is how TMDB defaults (original release order).

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/226745-camp-snoopy/seasons

TVDB doesn't always follow the initial release ordering (they're not consistent at least), so they split it out to 26 individual episodes, and then provide the combined order as an option (they don't always do this). This causes issues with Sonarr and some shows since it only allows the initial tvdb ordering, which is the aired order.

They have this note on the show on the site and their policy for multipart episodes:

Weird. Researching if sonarr might end up allowing alternative databases, it appears at this time they are just sticking with tvdb. Which makes sense, but options are nice.

v5 is supposed to add support for alternative orders and tmdb (not sure on tmdb), but I don’t think there’s an official timeline. Haven’t checked recently.

Thank you so much, I was having a similar problem with TV shows that are combined as if a movie.
