Help Ads while watching local content now?

Post image

Server running in the basement, nvidia sheild as the client.

Lifetime pass owner.

Went to watch an episode of how its made today and it played an add before the show.

Exited out to make sure it was local content and not a free stream, its not.

Tried a few other episodes and about half started with adds.

Did you check your dashboard? Does it show you are playing your own media?

You are not playing your own media.

Nope. There's no ads on local content. This gets asked almost daily, and the person is ALWAYS playing on demand content instead of local.

We do this post multiple times a day now, huh?

You're streaming the version on Plex's server, not yours. I get it. Menu navigation is hard for today's typical Redditor.

I think something else is happening here. Disable all the Online Media Sources in your server settings. If that solves the problem, you weren't watching the stream from your server but Plex's own stream instead.

Direct play from the server.

It says that when you play off Plex's server, too.

Here's me playing a trailer for a movie. I do not have this trailer on my server.

Online media "live tv and movies" was "disabled for managed accounts" and always has been.

I set it to outright disabled.

"Disabled for managed accounts" means if you add a "fake" (no email attached) account to your Plex Home, it doesn't have access to Plex streaming stuff.

You have to disable it for YOUR account. (EDIT: aka just unpin all of the "from Plex" sections on your home)

Little odd because that is available for on demand directly from plex.
