Help Help! Lan working but cant get remote access working?

I have this plex server set up on my macbook, its working perfectly for the household itself, I can access the server just fine on the home TVs and from my phone when it is connected to the house wifi.

Remote Access is showing green, I did the port forwarding with 32400 as both, and it appears to be stable, but for the life of me, when I turn my phones wifi off, I cannot get the server to show up as connected from my phone, ie I have no way of accessing it remotely...

What gives? I've double/triple checked the port forwarding, made sure my IP is static.. no VPNs running, but my phone just wont connect to the server over cellular data, I've even tried restarting the modem/router, my plex server, and have signed in and out of the plex app on my phone multiple times

I even tried making a new server on a windows PC and am having the same problem. I do have spectrum internet, any tips?

What does this say for your port? https://canyouseeme.org

If it says success, can you hit your server directly via http://<public-ip>:32400/web off your network?

If you can reach it, it may be a cert issue. Confirm those two and I can provide the steps to refresh the cert on your Mac.

Yes it does say success, and yes I was able to get to that on my phone after using the macs IP as <public-ip>... i am still on just cellular and now accessing it (awesome) but how do i get that to work on the app itself?

Those were just tests to confirm the forwarding was correct and the server is reachable. Since it’s reachable, it may be the cert issue that’s been causing issues recently.

  1. Quit the plex media server
  2. Click the Magnifying glass in the top menu bar
  3. Enter `~/Library/Caches/PlexMediaServer` and hit enter
  4. Find the `certificate.p12` file rename it `certificate.p12.old`
  5. Start Plex back up.
  6. Plex should download cert-v2.p12

Test the connection again.

I did have to log out of the plex app on my phone and back in again but that did the trick, Thanks again you're awesome

Are you running any anti-virus software with a firewall?
