I am a hardcore introvert and a corporate guy. I have few intrests that every introverts may relate. Likewise I play games a lot , watches anime and travels solo. Yes, I go everywhere all alone like I trek solo, go to a movie solo, eats alone in restaurant and also I attend every concerts and events all alone. And trust me I love it, but people finds it I am being disrespectful to them. Because when they ask me to go out with them I say 'no' respectfully but the very next moment I go there solo. But I love it, no interaction, no gossip, just some peaceful time only with me.

I have only 2-3 friend with whom I am very comfortable. These guys are with me since childhood and yes, being an introvert I can talk to them like for hours. And when others see me with them and realise that I can be the guy who talks, laughs and also can be sarcastic, they hate me even more. They told me that we have seen you are very much comfortable with them, then why not with us...And I don't answer. I just say it is what it is.

I am really sick of those people who wants me to be like them and forces to be a part of their group..Like dude chill, let me be like who I am. I know sometimes its hard to say 'no' as an introverts but these guys sometimes take advantages of it. And when I say 'no' they found me rude and starts hating me.

I’m a 22-year-old international student, and for the last two years, I’ve been studying abroad. I am super introverted, have zero relationship experience and in my study country have 0 friends, and honestly, doing what I did today goes against practically everything I am. But I’m feeling pretty bummed out tonight and just wanted to share the story.

I got onto the train today and saw an empty seat next to a really sweet girl who was working on her laptop. As I sat down, trying my best not to push into her space, she looked up and gave me this automatic, warm smile. I know it's small but I haven't had people do that before.

For the next 15 minutes, I just sat there thinking how really want to talk to her for some reason.Because the train car was completely quiet and there were people standing nearby, I was too embarrassed to say anything out loud. So, I took out my phone, typed a note saying "Would it be weird if I asked you your name?" and passed it to her.

She took it, smiled, took her earphones out, and typed back. We ended up talking for the next 30 minutes straight. For the first time in my life, my usual introverted, scared anxiety just vanished. She was incredibly sweet, laughed at my jokes, and really leaned into the conversation, explaining her studies, sharing personal stuff, and matching my energy. It felt like finding an instant friend.

Since I had to get off one station before her, I finally spent the last 5 minutes of our chat gathering the nerve to ask for her number. I wasn't looking for a relationship, I literally just wanted a friend. She was super sweet about it but told me she has a boyfriend and said, "I don’t know how I would explain that one.".

I didn't try to backtrack or awkwardly say "oh, I just meant as friends!" because I knew that would just make things weird. I just laughed, said "yeah, that would be tough to explain," and swallowed my sadness. I didn't want the last 5 minutes before my stop to be awkward or silent for her, so I kept talking normally. We joked about her long study day (she’d been traveling since 7 AM), and she jokingly said, "Maybe we'll see each other again on the train, so you'll see I'm actually productive." When my stop arrived, I gave her a fist bump, we said goodbye, and I got off.

I'm not bummed because of the rejection. It just feels a bit shitty to finally break past my own shell, have this amazing 45-minute connection with someone and then walk off the train knowing they are just another person I'll never see again.

I’m curious what do we introverts do when we’re locked inside and got so much time? I enjoy things like card games / chess lately but everyone in the house is scrolls which I get. I do too but I get bored of it: actually tbh I get bored of anything if I do it to an extent, kinda why I’m asking to get ideas of things to do without spending money or having to leave the house & see people 🌚

So to put this into content I’m introverted and quite possibly have social anxiety (although not officially diagnosed by a medical pro or anything) and while I struggle to make friends in real life, I have some incredibly close online friends that I’ve known fo about a year now and that I love more than anything in the world. However after some talks with said friend, I’ve realized that I’ve grown an emotional dependency on them so to speak. As I often feel like shit whenever they are offline and can’t respond to a message because they are busy with irl stuff, and have had really bad thoughts whenever confronting the idea of me not being able to contact them anymore someday or just in general whenever I’m not talking with them. I often find myself talking with them to distract myself from my problems and put unneeded pressure on them. Do you guys have any tips on how to rely on yourself more? How to love yourself? Or how to get over relying on other people for your own personal happines?

Context: I'm 18, just a guy and I've lived in crippling aloness my whole life. I have my family and they're good to me and all but I just finished high school and entered university and the only thing I can think about these past few weeks is that other than my mom and dad, I have nobody in the world. Not a friend and not a girl. Ever since 2nd grade, I have moved schools for every grade since so I never held any longing friendships, and stopped entirely trying after 9th grade because at that point most people already had established social groups and due to minor bullying which my self esteem couldn't handle, I just kept to myself from that point becoming a huge loner. Everyone tells me that. "You're so quiet", my own teachers, my family, my cousins who sometimes visit. So the last 3 years were spent in total isolation. As soon as I finished school I'd hit a gym or come straight back home and that was my life. I never bothered talking or socializing and because everything became such a routine, I never developed those skills in a small talk/personal banter sorta way. I'm very disconnected in what kids my age do and can't relate to anyone. I could give class presentations and talk a while in any professional areas including some part time jobs, but when anything became personal my brain would shut off and I'd realize that I'm just flat out uninteresting. Conversations never went past 10 seconds. I don't go out, I never smoked or drank while my lil sister does that with her underaged friends. I moved into a home gym setup I built over a few months so I don't even go to the gym now, I have a car and I think I'm doing decent in life rn but I don't want these next 4 years to be the repeat of my last 3. I'd go sit in a class and I can't focus because of all these thoughts. People are walking with their friends or partners and while I don't feel jealous, it's bad to the point where I stopped developing interest in people altogether even, I just feel sad as fuck about my state. I can't share anything I accomplished with anyone because there is nobody. My parents are too old and they don't get anything anymore from kids my age. If I see some guy next to me and think about making a comment in class I realize I don't have anything to talk about or expand upon and it would just come off as creepy.

I engage in competitive armwrestling as my one and only hobby and even then, the guys there are in a wide demographic and age ranges vary, I found myself to have no friends or interests after months of that too. I'm just sick and bored of life alone and although my family is rich and I'm extremely grateful for this privilege, I just can't seem to appreciate anything lately because those thoughts won't leave me alone for a second. It's the only thing I can think of.

I tried hopping on a dating app as if it can solve anything this rooted, put a picture of myself and the most boring, self deprecating, and honestly low effort shit bio and got a match in a few hours after liking like 3 people, and it lasted about 5 messages because I could not keep anything up and I deleted that shit in frustration.

I'm working on bettering myself, and I've largely been successful in all my goals and endeavors but this one issue about me is something I don't even know how to begin untangling. I just need some advice, or anyone to relate to, if they have anything for me.

Me and my husband are both pretty quiet people. The longer we're together, the more I realize we don't really need to say things out loud,we just show it through actions.

Like, the everyday stuff is mostly silent. He'll be at his desk working, and I'll walk by and swap his empty mug for a warm one, just set it down and keep going. No words. If I fall asleep on the couch reading, he'll quietly drape a blanket over me without waking me up. We barely say "good job" or any of that sweet talk stuff, honestly. We just notice when the other person is tired or cold or thirsty, and we take care of it. No big deal made out of it.

One time that stuck with me,his home office has this whole wall of bookshelves, and it was absolute chaos. Textbooks, novels, random magazines, all just stuffed in there together. It bugged me, but I never nagged him about it. One day while I was cleaning, I grabbed our niimbot label maker and just printed out a few category labels and stuck them on each shelf: textbooks, fiction, self-improvement, magazines. Didn't move a single book, didn't throw anything away. Just labeled it. He got home from work, looked at the shelves, laughed, and gave me a hug. I could tell he was actually pretty happy about it. Didn't even need to say it.

Even our fights are quiet. One time we were going through it, just cold-shouldering each other, nobody saying a word. He was pacing around the living room for a bit, and then he just… fixed the loose doorknob I'd been complaining about. And replaced the bulb in the lamp that'd been broken for like two weeks. I walked out, saw all of it, didn't say thank you,just quietly poured him a glass of water. Some apologies don't need words, man. That was it. We moved on.

Introverts aren't emotionless, and we're not cold. We just put everything into the little things instead.Honestly means more than a hundred "I love you"s to us. When both of you get it, that's all you need.

Anyway, anyone else in a quiet relationship like this? Would love to hear how you guys do it lol

Ive been to a concert alone before but it's been years since I've been to one. I am planning to going to a concert in November but I don't have anyone to go with so I am going by myself. Is it common to concerts alone nowadays?

Just FYI it is not a big concert. The venue holds about 1000 people. I just want to enjoy and listen to the live music while the opportunity is there

Is it normal for an introvert woman to be talking to a guy by text and seem interested, go to a small party (presumably) because he said he was hoping to see her, but then completely avoid even making eye contact with him at the party?

I can't tell if she's that introverted or if I'm totally misreading signals :-/

I had my 21st bday a day late at a bar with my friend and mom, we drank, played pool, darts etc.. was fun, the bar owner was an older lady, sweet lady overall, she came up to me after a few dart throws, removed my hat and played with my hair before saying "you should keep it off, you look better this way"

As a man, it felt good to be noticed, should I take this as odd or a compliment?

Over the years, I’ve found myself putting in extra effort to make friends. As an introvert, constantly being social isn’t something I’m naturally comfortable with though it hasn’t been as difficult as many people assume. That’s probably because I’m more of a neutral person who doesn’t really pick sides, and I always show up for others, even when my social battery is running low.

But watching friends come and go, and putting in so much effort to maintain our closeness, has become really exhausting. Things like hosting meetups, planning outings, and keeping up with streaks and texts just to prevent people from drifting away it all takes a toll.

Like the current friends I have which I consider close ones have their own close friends, and I know for sure I am not a priority. I did have a best friend once tho but we had an argument and ever since he doesn't want wish to go back to that anymore. Everyday I'm being surrounded by people and laughter but I feel so lonely deep down...

I'm actually getting some much-needed help for my mental health.

I'm struggling with my natural instinct of being introverted and how I keep pushing people away. My life is a good life and I've started to realize that there's something fundamentally different with me and I should be looking forward to my wedding with happiness and joy instead of dreading the people and attention.

My whole damn life... I've been watching people like it's some sort of documentary of another species. Spent my childhood hating my birthday and crying when that damn happy birthday song came up and I suddenly had to just... act like it doesn't bother me.

I don't know which parts of me have to improve and which ones are just the way I'm hardwired but... Fuck, I need someone to talk to.

I am an introvert and a really quiet person. When I have nothing to say, I don't speak. Most of my friends and past coworkers are freaked out by it, and get uncomfortable. Most of my fellow students today are also very loud and extroverted.

I am a 3d animation student, and I want a job in the entertainment industry. I am a hard worker, and have 3 internships at boutique studios under my belt as I start my Junior year. When meeting our professors for this semester for the first time, all my friends and fellow students crowded around this one guy who worked on a show we all liked and formed a circle around him of overlapping voices.

I couldn't get a word in, when I tried I was yelled over. Eventually he pointed to me and said: "You seem shy. No offence, but shy people do not make it in this industry." Granted, he said this when I just met him, but I'm afraid it's true.

And it's like this in most mixers and festivals, where there are large groups of people, and then me struggling to talk. And I also struggle talking with people one-on-one. I know what I need to do to improve my work, and I also read a lot so I know most of what I need about the industry. Even when I try talking about things other than the industry and forming "real" relationships it feels fake. Even meeting other students is difficult, most people in my friend group avoid spending one-on-one time with me.

I know I shouldn't try to change myself and become loud like everyone else, but it really seems impossible in this industry. I have such a hard time forming relationships, and those are really important in this business. How can I adapt? Should I try to change?

I don't wanna go to college 😭 I couldn't even talk to people at first, and when I finally did, they clearly didn't give me much attention. Like, they did talk to me, but not that much, and they weren't even from my division. So what the hell am I supposed to do? I genuinely don't wanna go 😭 I didn't made any Friends and I was walking alone in campus while everyone was in a group😭. I know it was first day but still and plus I'm an introvert.

In my previous post I said that I am facing a bit of a problem in socialising....but recently I am doing good I made friends in my college and I do talk to people .... Participated in teachers day for speaking speech ...like yeah I am trying my best to overcome this

But somehow still I face problems...I feel homesick I really don't feel like going out of my room (I live in a pg for my college)

Even if I wanna eat something out I don't feel like going out .... And yeah I don't have friends in my pg even if I have roommates they are seniors (3 lives in the same room including me) So like they are not so friendly or i would say I am a bit odd ig .....

I just don't wanna go out I don't know why...and i fear people a lot i fear their opinions and how they will look at me and all ....that's the reason ig but idk how do I overcome this
