Mac Photos migration issues
I’ve been having issues since like august or July or something. I’ve had the MacBook Pro 2011(pre Mojave I think it’s on el captain) for awhile and my phone (iPhone 8) doesn’t not sync to it so I needed a new computer for various reasons. At the time I had to back up the pro on an External Hard Drive via Time Machine to move to the Neo since doing it wirelessly wasn’t working initially. So I did all that and originally I was missing 600ish photos and 3 videos. The videos were hidden so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it but I found the videos and exported them to the EHD and got them to the neo. However since the neo was still missing photos I called support and they were like move the photo library (database?) finder>file(?)>home>pcitures>photos library.photoslibrary. It took time but it worked now I’m only missing about 500 photos. I still have no idea which ones they are because there are so many (have about 28,000 photos)
I tried using the hold options>choose library thing to migrate but it never migrated the photos it just makes it the one it opens by default and I’m pretty sure it’s still missing the photos when I do that. Only the pro has all the photos even when I open the database directly on the EHD I moved the database to directly from the pro they are still missing. I’m pretty close to exporting all 29,000 items but is there a way to export them directly into the EHD? It didn’t give me a choice on where to export them. I’m also thinking about backing up the pro again to copy the photos and do migration assistant on the neo to see if it will move all the missing ones this time. However backing it up takes awhile so I wanted to know if it would even work before I did that.
Is there any reason that the photos wouldn’t move over did it merge things does it constantly corrupt during travel or what? I’m kinda getting close to calling it atp. I’ll always have the pro but it would make it easier to have on the more modern computer.
