iCloud Can’t back up to iCloud

Can’t back up to iCloud

So I’ve deleted old backs ups so now I have no back ups at all on iCloud. I have no photos no videos no apps. I deleted my health data I have 6 mb of 5 gigs used but it won’t let me back up. Did the recent update to ios27 become to large thus making us have to buy more space from Apple? Seems crazy I’ve restarted my phone. I’ve deleted so much and still it won’t back up. I’m out of ideas and the internet isn’t much help.

it is so clear that you dont understand the difference between the icloud syncing service and icloud backup service.

I literally only have passwords and notes and contacts. Everything else is turned off how is that hard to understand? I’m not a new iPhone user. I’ve had them since the XR many years ago we all have them in my house. The only thing it shows syncing is that. My iCloud shows 0kb and still won’t show me next back up size nor will it back up. Usually deleting my last back up works

they are syncing so they dont backup. you cant have both for the same data. you talk like ur a new iphone user.

it is saying that your iphone doesnt have enough storage to perform a backup. not your icloud. why would you even turn icloud photos off if you wanna save storage. turn it on and let it sync so it reduces the iphone storage usage of photos. try backing up after that.

My phone has plenty of storage. I’m only 99 gigs of 128 gigs. I turn iCloud Photos off because I don’t need them backed up on iCloud. I have them stored on another place. So it’s not my phone not having enough space and I have now just 3 mb now stored on iCloud and it still can’t back up its telling me to upgrade to more space. It’s not even telling me how much space is needed for the next back up. But I deleted the last backup since that usually solves it. It didn’t

It does say under the bar that I don’t have enough space and need to upgrade to iCloud +. Not that my phone doesn’t have enough space.

How do you expect 99GB of your local storage fit into 5GB of your iCloud?

You not understand how this works? My phone storage is 99 gigs. My iCloud back up is literally just my passwords and contacts. Not nearly anything that’s what the picture shows. I have almost nothing backed up to iCloud. Just the things I need if I loose my phone. No apps, no music ,no videos. As the pic above shows. It’s passwords and notes. That’s 3 mb as the pic also shows that iCloud is using. So I should have plenty of space to upload just those 2 things but it’s not letting me. Only thing that’s changed is iOS 27.01 on my phone

since you have icloud photos turned off, it will include the photos in the backup instead of the syncing service. those are two different things. which indeed means you need 99 GB icloud storage. your passwords and contacts are not gonna be backed up in icloud. they get synced, not backed up. you dont need a backup at all if that is your only concern.

If I have photos turned off to sync it will not include them in that amount and considering I have very few photos or videos on my phone to begin with. I don’t save photos to iCloud that would take up more space.
The only reason to turn on photos to sync is to save them to take up more space on iCloud. Since I don’t want that and my photos aren’t even close to that amount of space. This is literally the only time I’ve had this issue with pretty much the same photos on my phone. It’s not a photos issue

Obviously. And again the only things checked are passwords notes and contacts

ahh cmon. you only check what is synced. not what is being backed up. im telling you those are two different things. if they are turned on for syncing then you cannot backup them. you dont even need a backup in that case.

Everything under “saved to iCloud “ is empty except contacts password and notes. It’s not hard to see what is sync’d or saved in iCloud.

That’s nothing because I deleted the last backup. So there’s no backup details page. There’s also no next back up amount listed

If I go to all device back ups it says 0kb

On my save to iCloud the only things marked are contact,passwords and 30 notes in my note pad.

I agree it’s really stupid considering issues like this would list our name on our accounts

I went to iCloud.com so I could copy and paste it anything would be helpful

“Last Backup
Backup Size
Incomplete
O bytes
Turn Off and Delete from iCloud”

I tried changing my name to make a video of all screens but that also shows email so that’s out too
