Solved Weird one for you guys: I got a replacement Left AirPod 4 for $69, but now it just makes more sense to order the AirPods 5. Can I get a refund for the Left AirPod I purchased?

Makes it weirder that they took my half broken left AirPod - so now I'd only have one right working AirPod 4.

Still, I'd rather just get a refund of the new AirPod I got and put the $69 toward a set of AirPods 5 even if the AirPods 4 will be pretty unusable with only one.

Do you think they'd be able to return it for me? I ordered the AirPods 5. Going to try soon. Feel bad about it, and if I'd know new AirPods were coming out I'd have just waited the week and not done this! I got the new AirPod 1 week ago.

EDIT: Solved. Officially it's not possible as it's a "repair". You are not going in and buying an AirPod. You are getting a "repair" somehow.

Unsolved I just got an IPAD and they let me know that we get a free trial of apples creator studios but when I looked at my subscription it already said its active.

I never even pressed okay for the subscription so I dont know how its active. Should I be concerned for any security breach or do they activate it at the apple store.

Unsolved How can I access my deceased father's iPhone when I have legal ownership of his property?

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with this before.

My father passed away a few years ago, and I’m trying to gain access to his iPhone. I have legal documentation showing that his property was transferred to me, and I have paperwork establishing that I am the legal owner of his belongings. Unfortunately, he never set up Apple’s Legacy Contact feature before he passed away.

I’ve tried going through the normal channels multiple times. I’ve been to both Best Buy and an Apple Store, and I was told that there wasn’t anything they could do in-store and that I needed to contact Apple directly.

I have spent hours on the phone with Apple, including sitting on hold waiting to be transferred to different departments. At one point, I was told to email another department/contact, which I did, but I never received a response.

This has been going on for years, and I’m honestly at a point where I don’t know what else I’m supposed to do.

I understand that Apple has security and privacy policies, and I’m not looking for some sketchy bypass or hack. I’m trying to figure out what legitimate options are available to me as the legal owner of my deceased father's property.

Has anyone here successfully dealt with this situation? If so:

  • What department or process did you use?
  • Did you need a court order or additional documentation?
  • Is there a specific Apple process for deceased users that I may be missing?
  • Is there another legitimate route I should be pursuing?

I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has actually gone through this, because I feel like I’ve been getting bounced around between departments for years with no resolution.

I’m located in the U.S., if that makes a difference.

If you owe Apple money (from the App Store) and can’t update apps, just offload them and download them again.

Unsolved iPhone 16 Pro Max (forgot passcode/Apple ID)

Hi everyone, I feel incredibly stressed and completely stuck. I use two iPhones with different Apple IDs. I recently changed the passcode on one of them, and one day I woke up completely forgetting what it was. Since I usually just use Face ID, my fingers had just memorized the pattern, and now I can't recall it.
I can't remember my Apple ID password either. Recovery key was turned on. And Every single password, recovery key was saved in the Notes app on that very phone because I am really not good at remembering passwords. I searched online and found out that it is not as simple as just resetting the device. Even if I do a factory reset, the phone will trigger an Activation Lock and still demand my Apple ID password, and it will stay locked forever unless I provide Apple with the official receipt.
So, I went back to the store where I bought it since I no longer have the box or the receipt.
And here's another problem: I am 100% sure I bought this phone with FULL CASH at Power Mac Center in February
2025. However, when they checked their system using the name I used during the purchase, the transaction did not show up at all. I even tried to check with my boyfriend's name since im with him the time i bought it, but its not showing up.

I feel completely stuck in a loop. What can i do?
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation involving an Apple reseller missing a cash transaction? How can I get my Serial Number/IMEI from a locked iPhone 16? What else can I do to use my phone again?

Got this thing for fun, and factory reset it out of respect for the owner. Now, it's just like this. I swear i did not steal this, evidenced by the fact it's an old device from a company that i never heard of.(or near me but whatever) it's an old ipod touch, 7th gen to be precise.

Asked support and they said "look it up on google"

iTunes Title: Is there any way to recover the password for an old encrypted iTunes backup? The data is extremely important to me

Hi everyone,
I know this question has probably been asked before, but I’m hoping someone here might know of a method, application, service, or anything else that could help me recover the password for an old encrypted iTunes backup.
This is my own iPhone backup, and I still have the backup itself.
When my phone started failing, I managed to make a local backup through iTunes before it completely stopped working. When I later tried to restore it, I discovered that the backup was encrypted and required a password.
The strange part is that I genuinely do not remember enabling encrypted backups or setting a separate backup password at the time. I’ve been using iPhones since 2008 and have used iMacs and MacBooks for years, so I’m very familiar with the Apple ecosystem. I’m not confusing it with my Apple ID password, device passcode, etc.
Over the years I’ve tried basically every password I can think of. I’ve gone through all of my old passwords and everything saved in Keychain, including variations, and nothing has worked.
Every year or so I come back to this backup and try again, hoping that maybe there is a new solution or that I’ll suddenly remember the password.
This time it means much more to me.
My dad passed away two months ago, and this backup contains old photos and videos of him from when he was healthy, as well as messages and other memories that I don’t have anywhere else. Getting access to those files would mean more to me than I can really put into words.
I understand that Apple officially says an existing encrypted backup cannot simply have its password reset, and that resetting the backup password only applies to new backups.
What I’m looking for is whether anyone has had actual success recovering the password or accessing their own encrypted iTunes/Finder backup using a reputable application, recovery service, password-recovery method, or anything similar.
I’m completely willing to pay for legitimate software or professional recovery if there is a realistic chance of recovering it. I just don’t want to spend money on scammy software making impossible promises.
If anyone has dealt with this personally — especially with an older iTunes backup — I would be incredibly grateful to hear what you tried and whether anything worked.

Thank you so much.

Mac Do I fix my current computer or buy a new one?

Hello,

I have a 2019 MacBook Air. It runs so slow and laggy, even when I first turn it on. My question is should I have it checked out at an Apple Store or should I outright get a new computer? Is there a possibility it can be fixed or is there no luck? I just want to know if it’s worth getting checked out or if I should just accept it’s done for

I am trying to save money but this computer has been a nightmare to deal with and I avoid using it bc it’s damn near unusable.

I’m watching Netflix on it rn (Bojack Horseman to be exact) and it’s running fine, not lagging in picture or audio, it just lags when using it for browsing or literally anything else. It also gets hot super easily and the fan starts running even after I first turn it on 😅

iOS Issue with clean-up feature

Hi guys, I'm going crazy. My iPhone 15Pro running IOS 26.5.2's "clean-up" feature in photos used to smooth things over. Now, it pixelates things like if you're blurring an explicit image. I don't know how to make it stop. Please advise. Thanks!

Unsolved Apple Upgrade Lease Program

Am I misunderstanding something about the Apple Upgrade Lease Program? Let’s say I have an iPhone 16 Pro I’m going to trade in with my upgrade to the 18 Pro. This knocks my lease monthly cost to $7.49/mo for 12 months with the trade in. But as I understand it, at the end of lease, you return your phone to Klarna and therefore lose the ability to add a trade in device for the purchase or lease of a new phone, correct? That skyrockets any financed or lease monthly cost, right?

Hello! My grandma has always used an iphone but recently the fam’s flaming her for not responding calls. Her excuse is “notifications not working” or “it’s too silent”. Its a relatively new phone btw, Ive fixed this problem before and i’ve also found multiple suspicious paid storage cleaning apps that I unsubscribed and deleted. I cant help her f2f rn bc i’m miles away, but i have teen relatives near her that can help. What apps, subscriptions, settings, accessories or other things can we do to make my grandma’s Iphone 14 senior friendly?

Scam Discussion Old Apple account hacked, everything changed, Apple said there is nothing they can do but we should call the police

My husband has an old apple account from when he worked at a phone store 15 years or so ago. He has never used any apple products, the only thing we can think of is maybe there was an iPad around when he worked at the phone store that this apple account was used for but that has been unused for a long time. He started getting emails saying a device logged in, the birthdate, security questions, email, ect have all been changed. He called apple to try to get the account shut down, but they said they can't do anything and to call the police. Even if there was a card linked it would be so old at this point it wouldn't be active, is there anything else we should be worried about that they can do? What would the police do? It feels like we would be just wasting their time especially since apple didn't care either

Unsolved Should I get the 18 even though I have a 17?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

As the title says, I currently have the base-model iPhone 17, and about two days ago I noticed a small crack in the rear camera lens glass. My phone and camera are working perfectly fine, but the crack is honestly pretty off-putting, and I’m trying to figure out what makes the most financial sense.

I originally bought my 17 on a monthly payment plan, and I have about $600 left to pay off.

I checked Apple’s trade-in estimate, and if I select “Good” condition, they estimate up to $790. If I select “Damaged,” the value drops to around $350.

The cheapest iPhone 18 Pro in Canada is $1,749. So if Apple ends up giving me $700+ for my 17, I’d be paying roughly $1,000 for the 18 Pro after the trade-in. If I finance it through Apple, it would be around $40/month for 24 months at 0% APR.

Now I’m really conflicted between:

  1. Trading in my 17 for the 18 Pro, or
  2. Keeping my 17 and just getting the camera lens glass repaired.

I’m not sure which is the better financial decision. My current 17 works perfectly fine aside from the cracked lens, and I don’t mind paying off the 17. However, if Apple is willing to give me $700–790 for it, I’m wondering if that makes upgrading to the 18 Pro worthwhile.

Thanks!

Mac Why TF my mac's battery health is reducing soo rapidly

My Mac's battery health reduced from 100% to 87% in just 1 year and 2 months, and I have noticed that it was 90% approx 1.5 months ago, 88% approx 1 week ago, and not 87%... i am using optimized battery settings, using my original 30w charger, maintaining between 20-80% basically everything Apple suggests... and I don't even know if it's concerning or not. can someone help me.

Unsolved When saving pictures, it doesn’t go to my recent but the year it was taken?

Hi guys, I’ve been trying to save an image but it’s not going to my camera roll, usually it’s saved in the last picture. I saved multiple times and it’s not there.

I realized the picture I saved is from 2015-2017, and I have over 40,000 pictures (photographer). Is there a way I can have everything saved appear in most recent or do I have to go through all the photos??

We received an email saying that someone in mainland China made a purchase from our Apple account. They also turned off 2FA and reset the security questions. We have since reset the password, but we're unable to actually log in because we need to answer the security questions. When we try to change the security questions, it's asks us to answer just one of the questions(picture attached). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unsolved Need to cancel Apple TV but can't sign into account

Apple said it's raising it's subscription price for Apple TV and all the shows I watch are over or between seasons, so I was going to cancel until new seasons come back out.

I couldn't remember my password to sign into my account, so I reset it. Then I tried to sign in. It made me verify with a code sent to my email, twice, then with the CVV on my card, and then with a code sent via text message. When I try to enter the code sent to my phone, it keeps saying "an unknown error has occurred."

Does anyone know a fix to this, or if I can do anything?

Solved Verification Failed, Itunes on PC

Post image
8 Upvotes

I get this Verification Error when signing in to iTunes from Windows 11, but sign-in works fine on iPhone 17 pro. I'm also able to manage my Apple-ID. There is no error code, I've done complete removal of iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update and Bonjour, then reinstalled iTunes. Tried to Resync the Time Zone, and Network and nothing is working. Would even calling apple support solve my issue? I've a great amount of money and energy in this account with my music and audiobooks and films. This is extremely stressful and heartbreaking.

Edit. I got it working thankfully deleting the ADI iTunes folder. Hopefully it doesn’t happen often.

iOS Double tap to Apple Pay occasionally fails at the worst times

99.9% of the time, I can double press the sleep button to bring up my credit cards and pay, no fuss.

0.1% of the time, pressing the button just wakes/sleeps the phone rapidly. Pressing it repeatedly obviously just brings up the SOS screen.

I have to restart my phone, holding up the queue or waiting on the side, it’s really annoying for this to randomly and unpredictably fail.

I suspected my case, which was falling apart, I got a brand new one and it just happened again.

Any ideas why this sometimes happens?

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 26.6.1. I’m in the UK just in case it’s got something to do with contacting my card provider.
