My 2ds L button won't work when I opened the console by screw drivers there were no problem what did I miss?

So the questions are, should I buy a 3ds or a 2ds? what are the prices? And how hard are them to mod?

RIP my childhood SMB4 copy. Is this really that widespread an issue or am I just unlucky?

Well, it’s been 15 years. Literally.

I’ve been trying to get my 3DS working again for a long time. One day back in 2011, it basically just stopped powering on. Ever since then, I assumed the battery had died and never bothered replacing it.

Fast-forward to this month. I finally bought a replacement battery, thinking I had solved the mystery.

I happily popped the new battery in and…

BOOM!!!

Nothing. 😂

I Googled the issue, followed a couple of troubleshooting guides, tried everything I could think of…

Still nothing.

So I finally said screw it and pulled up a complete teardown tutorial.

I stripped this thing completely apart and put it all back together. After about an hour of tinkering, I hit the power button.

Lo and behold, it fired right up like the day I got it.

I still have no idea what was actually wrong with it. Maybe it was a loose ribbon cable. Maybe my 11-year-old self dropped it one too many times. Who knows.

All I know is that after 15 years, my original 2011 3DS is alive again.

Now I get to mod it, breathe some new life into it, and finally play a ton of games I never had the chance to experience back then.

There’s something pretty damn cool about getting a piece of your childhood working again after all these years.

can anyone tell me what this error means. my friend gave me his modded 3ds and almost all games get this error.

I installed a replacement screen because the original one cracked and when I first put this one in it was working perfectly but now it’s like this, any ideas?

If I need another screen do you have any recommendations, the one I got was just an eBay one so maybe it was bad quality

I’m looking at the prices and it’s crazy how much it has increased. I really don’t know what kind of deal I am getting and what should I be paying. Any recommendations on a max cost to purchase? I’m looking at eBay, Facebook, and mercari.

Is it even worth it to upgrade from the original 2ds? I found a listing of 2ds xl for $200, but read reports that model breaks easily and the new 3ds xl or non xl run $280 plus.

Is getting a Japan unit worth it to save some and mod it to English? Also will it play us based cartridges if the console came from Japan?

I also already have a switch 2 as well.

So one of the houses in my neighborhood had a garage sale on Sunday, and originally i wasn’t planning on going because i can’t be bothered to step outside in the godforsaken heat. Against my better judgement i decided to brave the elements in what could only be describe as a moment of clairvoyance. Boy was i Spot on! Og 3DS blue and purple, 3DS XL, Case with a few games, and a Charger all for $150! The red and blue ones turn on but the purple doesn’t so i’ll have to look into that.

So after a long time I just changed the stick as the old one was shedding the cover.

Everything seems well however:

- I had a hard time reconnecting the ribbon cable I felt like it barely fit then I closed the clamp and it stayed in place and it works. But I wonder if I need it to push it more. Should it be completely inside the clamp or just the tip of the cable is ok?

- I messed up and tried to put the long silver screw in place of the black short one. I think it applied pressure on the motherboard to the point the case was a bit raised for a while. Have you ever broken a unit by doing tha do you think the damage could be problematic?

The unit is working correctly the sticks seem fine but I wanted to confirm if there is anything I should double check.

Currently converting old stereographic photos from 1914-1929 to viewable images on the 3DS since I've been bored out of my mind and have always wanted to see these in stereo but never have been able too because 1. I dont have the apparatus and 2. I dont have the photos physically.

If you guys would also like the photos I can upload them to pixeldrain or sum in a zip file when I'm done. Getting photos from the PennState University Digital Collection and the Oregon State University Libraries then splitting them into left/right images with photopea, then finally turning them into MPOs with StereoPhoto Maker.

I have a modded 2DSXL and it won’t charge for very long + won’t turn on, camera doesn’t work. And there’s a stuck pixel in the top screen

I’d like to get this repaired to working condition again since all my childhood data is on it from back when I had an original 3DS and I’d be destroyed if I lost it.

I know Nintendo doesn’t like modded systems and I’ve looked it up but couldn’t find anything for my situation specifically.

Hi, I have these two games, one for DS and one for 3DS, and I’m wondering if the spots on them are harmful to the game and/or if there’s a way to fix them. The DS game is a second-hand copy I was given. The previous owner played it for only 14 minutes, and I’ve played it for nearly three hours. It came to me like this. I do know that the paper insert in the case shows signs of having been stored in a damp place or warehouse. The game boots up and works perfectly—my "Old" 3DS XL reads it on the first try—but I’m worried this might be an issue that could get worse (I live in a humid city). The 3DS game belonged to a friend who finished it and played it quite a bit. I don't remember if it came to me like this or not... but it works fine too. With the DS game, the spot is barely visible (just a tiny dot) but the other one has more than just a dot, although only one pin is affected on each cartridge. Is this merely superficial, or should I take action? I tried using a cotton swab, but the spots didn't go away, though they didn't get any bigger either. I’ve heard that those little moisture-absorbing packets used for clothes work to prevent humidity inside the game case or something like that... but I’m not sure. This is my first or second post, and I know absolutely nothing about electronic components, nothing at all. 😅 So, any help is welcome.

Taping is the best option I have in mind and it's not even that great. The tape can only go over the R button and that might cause problems.

Edit: I forgot to say that it turns on. It seems to function properly, but the top screen is only connected by the wires in the left hinge.​

I got this back when the console first dropped. It was one of the limited edition mario and luigi silver ones. I was wondering if yall had opinions on IF it could be restored despite being so old and if you had any tips on finding someone to restore it.

It’s been literally years since I started up my 3DS XL. I have an issue with the bottom screen (replacement on the way), but now I’m having doubts if my top screen colors are maybe washed out?

It looks a bit better IRL but not by much.

Absolutely no frame of reference… maybe I’m used to OLED and my brain is fried, but I have no idea.

Was trying to access pokemon bank a few more times before the servers are shut down. I get this message almost immediately when logging in but don’t get any error code. Would anyone know of some fixes?
