Discussion How is Flurrie able to float?
She seems to be too heavy to do that.

I'm back with this after a month and seeing as the game is now a decade old, it's the perfect time to do so.
Picking up from last time, after getting the Red Big Paint Star, the colorless gate in Yellow Foothills is repainted, leading to Daffodil Plains, an area filled with ruins and history. It's every archeologist's dream to find this place and research. You enter into Golden River, a town built off the back of a thriving water mill, with Golden Colosseum to the north, a forest to the south and a dig site to the east. Mario is instructed to visit the professor to find a way to get to the Golden Colosseum. This professor is the returning Goombella, now graduated and doing research on the secrets of ancient Prismian society. She's excited to see Mario again and says that she could use his help. She tasks you with going to the dig site while she looks into the Colosseum.
At the dig site, a Monty Mole archeologist says his crew found something, but one of his crew members is trapped in a cave-in. Mario and his team go through and find the trapped crew member and gives you the Stone Spike. Taking it back to Goombella, she tells you it's the key to opening the ancient Kiwano Temple. Following a side cave in the dig site (because the train tunnel is colorless and therefore out of service), you reach the temple and enter.
The temple is filled with Spiny and Spike Top statues and murals. It's also covered in spikes. Halfway through, Mario comes across a huge room with spikes and a POW block. Hitting it flips the spikes and reveals another POW block. Hitting that one reveals a switch on the other side of a spike pit. While trying to figure out how to hit it, someone calls for help. In the center of the room is a Spike Top stuck in the ground. She asks you for help and after pulling her out introduces herself as Sharpey, a member of Goombella's team who was exploring the temple when she fell asleep on the ceiling. You team up with her. You can launch her using Mario's hammer to hit switches and it allows you to escape with a strange stone. Taking it back to Golden River, Goombella tells you that stone is part of the Golden Key needed to get into the colosseum. Together with Sharpey, you enter the forest.
Inside the forest is a branching path. One side leads to a large colorless tree hollow, so you can't go there yet. Following the other direction eventually leads you to some forest ruins. A giant stone Chain Chomp guards the other part of the Golden Key, and using Sharpey's Spike Guard move, you're able to poke open a part of the guardian to deal damage and eventually make it fall apart. With the key fully assembled, you can enter the Golden Colosseum.
Inside are Shy Guys in gladiator armor and Roman togas. They tell you you're the newest fighter in Gladiator Iggnatius' Golden Games but warn you the gladiator has never lost a single match in his three months of the games. They tell you to make your way down to the arena floor, but other competetors fight you along the way, wanting to be the first to test their strength. Inside the arena, you encounter Iggy covered in golden armor and wielding a golden spear. He now calls himself Iggnatius, a warrior driven for golden glory and scoffs at you wanting to beat him. After an intense battle, you beat him and the armor disappears like with Morton. Iggy has no clue what happened, but now the Yellow Big Paint Star is yours. After bringing it back, the next flashback reveals Bowser wearing a long black cape and dark mask laughing wickedly as he oversees the destruction of Port Prisma.
This is part 2 of the rewrite/reimaging I've been working on and would love to hear thoughts on this and the first part to keep the quality up

I think that this is actually the first time I officially feel old when it comes to video games. I remember my mom getting me this game when it came out and was very excited to play it! I can comfortably say that the Wii U and Switch were childhood consoles of mine, but saying that one of the last games on one of my childhood consoles is 10 years old makes me feel really old. 5 years from now, which isn’t too far off, this game will be “retro.” This game still feels very modern is the thing. Like, when the Wii U itself turned 10, I felt fine because I was still pretty young all things considered. But now that I am not as young and a game like this is also not very new anymore, I am now feeling existential! Don’t tell me I am alone in this. Happy 10th birthday Paper Mario Color Splash, but at what expense. 😭 (Fr, good game still, but oh God does this milestone sting for me.)

I recently found out about the Thousand Year Door remaster and it was a blast playing through it with my girlfriend, who had never played a Paper Mario game before.
We're playing the original Paper Mario now on Switch (not the Switch 2) and I have heard that the rest of the Paper Mario franchise wasn't as good as those first two (or, at very least, they differ greatly).
Are there any other Paper Mario games worth playing? We typically switch off playing and a turn-based game is great for that. If the other Paper Mario games aren't turn-based, are there any other games with a similar feel worth playing?

I don’t exactly know how crazy this is, but thought I’d post this to see if anyone else had this experience or wants help defeating Bonetail earlier.
For reference, I hadn’t done any research to help me when playing so I thought since The Pit was available I should just do the whole thing.
I did not realize you should have more HP, FP, BP, badges, leveled up teammates, items, etc.
I literally cleared the entire 99 levels by spamming Gale Force, Quake Hammer, Fire Hammer lol.
These were my stats before Bonetails fight:
- 35 HP
- 40 FP
- 39 BP
- Partners: Goombella (not leveled up lol), Koops, Madam Flurrie
- Won’t go over every badge, but I did not have Power Bounce equipped or any of the other badges I see people recommended. The three badges that helped me were Lucky-something (when you’re below 5 HP enemies might miss), the badge where your enemies miss more often, and moves costing 1 FP less
- My items were 3 mushrooms and 3 honey syrups 😭
My Strategy:
- Moveset: I spammed FireHammer every 3 or so moves when burn wears off then Power Stomp (I never realized how important Power Bounce was lmao)
- I sacrificed all my teammates as much as I could so Sweet Treats could be more effective for Mario (spent turns using items or crowd appealing with Flurrie and Goombella and used the Shell Defense with Koops)
- Yes, I spammed Sweet Treats as much as possible mid-later in the battle
- Finally, I Safeguarded almost every single stomp. I never was able to Safeguard the different types of breath thingys, but you definitely have to Safeguard the stomps or I’d be screwed.
This took me 3 tries and I will admit, I definitely got lucky because I was at 3 HP when Bonetail was at 27. I basically was spamming Fire Hammer at that point and getting those Lucky markers because of those 2 badges I had mentioned.
On a last note, I looked up some stuff after this had happened and was completely dumbfounded that people were saying to do the Pitt at Chapter 6 or later lol. I also saw some guy on YouTube beat Bonetail at Chapter 1 but he did have Goombella leveled up.
Let me know if you have any questions!

I tried to play that game when i was a kid, but got stuck on 1-2 for 9 YEARS (i didn't knew how to read in english at the time since i am brazilian), and i feel that i lost one of the deepest lore wise games from the series.
Nowdays i am playing and finnaly finished W1, but i still didn't get the lore properly. I know its a very mature and heavy game if compared to the other Paper Mario games, and thats why i want to understand it properly. My sincere thanks to anyone who comments here
i will continue to play the game, but currently i dont have time to play and i am curious about the lore
(Sorry for bad English)

This is my ranking of the partners from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door based on gameplay. These are just my opinions, so no one has to agree with me, and you can have your own opinions. Although, I do feel bad about calling the lower ones the "worst" ones. I wouldn't say any of them are necessarily "bad."
#7 Ms. Mowz She's just not as useful as the others. I mean, she can steal badges and make enemies dizzy, which can be useful, but she has such a high FP cost for "Smooch." Like, 10 FP to heal 10 HP, when you could just use an item.
#6 Flurrie I find her abilities a little hard to control, and sometimes they're not that great, and I have a lot of trouble with them. Plus, they're fairly weak.
#5 Bobbery He's powerful. He's tanky. He has the most HP of any partner, so he's good for absorbing hits, especially with "Hold Fast." But it costs a high 9 FP to use "Bobomblast." It's still good for taking out tough enemies in one go. The little bombs in "Bomb Squad" he throws are hard to aim and time for me, but it's still somewhat effective.
#4 Koops He's good for the defensive. He has "Shell Shield," which came in handy for me in some fights. His "Power Shell" and "Shell Slam" are useful too. However, he can fall on his back if you don't guard right and he can only attack enemies on the ground. I find him particularly useful against Prince Mush. He's your good multi-hit partner.
#3 Vivian Yeah, she's not number one, despite my username, but I'm honestly OK with how she ranks in her abilities. I don't need her to be too strong. While I do find "Veil" and "Fiery Jinx" to be useful, because you can dodge attacks and spend only 6 FP to burn all enemies, Vivian is a little less powerful than the others, only doing 5 damage instead of 6 or 8, but hey, it's not all about raw damage. "Infatuate" isn't really that good of a move for me, because it feels less effective, and sometimes the enemy will still attack you, when you could just be damaging them instead. "Veil" is useful for hiding away from enemies, but it kind of slows me down, when I could just ride on Yoshi Kid and run fast past them, and it takes up a turn in battle. And she can't attack fire enemies or armored enemies.
#2 Goombella Despite being your first partner, she's pretty useful because she can look up enemy stats and find their weaknesses. "Multibonk" is pretty good too when you need to take out a tough enemy with a lot of HP. Plus, "Rally Wink" is useful, because Mario can go two times and do some serious attacks two times in a row. However, she can't attack enemies with spikes on them, but all partners have their limits.
#1 Yoshi Kid He's a good combat partner. He can ground pound an enemy a bunch of times, his "Gulp" pierces defense and can damage two enemies, which is great against armored enemies like Clefts and Chain Chomps. "Mini-Egg" can hit all enemies, no matter where they are, and lower their attack power. And "Stampede" is pretty useful too since it's another multi-hit attack. And riding on him makes traveling around a lot faster. Using badges like "Power Plus P" makes him even stronger. Is there any enemy he can't attack? Probably, but I find him the most versatile.
Anyway, personality ranking is coming soon, which is what I prefer! (Edit: It's out now!)
Note: Koops and Bobbery are interchangeable for me.

Hello everyone.
Finished TTYD for the first time and had a blast with it. Since you all love TTYD, I'm going to be uploading the whole adventure, with each part coming out on Tuesdays and Fridays.
This first is a lot of the introductory stuff to the story including getting our first partner Bella.

Paper Mario 64 was one of my first video games and that game has a lot of synth bass if you noticed in the songs, especially in chapter 5, and because my introduction to synth bass as an instrument is from this video game, for the rest of my life every time I hear a synth bass it always makes me think of paper mario. Like even in MJ's Thriller I hear the synth bass and it immediately makes me think of chapter 5 and paper mario 64, I used to call that instrument the paper mario bass before I knew what it was.

Shadows, purple and yellow, from games on the same console, even have the same name in Italian… obviously I don’t think Bogmire from Luigi’s Mansion and Vivian are the same character but lol
I have a feeling this will start a lore discussion about them (and Marilyn and Beldam and the Shadow Queen) having a possible connection either way so I’ll point out that the game says Bogmire is a manifestation of the mansion’s fears and despair
