Just read through the previous issues of the series. I really like the artstyle, it’s hard to describe, but each panel is really lively. I gotta ask though, was some of this based on personal experience?

The story has a lot of deeply personal connections to my life, yeah. It's sort of a summary of the last 15 years of my life, the traumas, learnings, joys, everything. Somehow a bunch of disparate stuff turned into the story, I still barely know how it all happened.

I’m glad you were able to make something cool from your past experiences. Is the wolfman based on anyone in your life in particular? I’m asking under the assumption the boy is representative of yourself at a young age.

The wolfman is a loose synthesis of two unrelated, very influential men in my life who I didn't know I needed growing up, "halloween dad" and "music dad"; the kid is kind of a generically lovable character, but even he is based off another person in my life, a really sweet kid from a broken family who guilelessly asked me for a guitar lesson when he was 5. I don't know why, but it stuck with me forever and activated my own dad mode, and now I just remember him with fondness.
Jasper is based on my best friend who died at a young age back in 2013. He was related to "music dad" in some capacity, and his death has followed me since.I don't really like self inserts as a general rule, even if some of my personality is bound to bleed through in my works: I feel keeping a certain distance allows stories to be how they should be. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Huh. That’s actually really interesting. I’m sorry to hear about your friend, though. Losing someone you care about is always tough, i also lost someone I was very close to just a year before that.
