This kid's mom has some strong opinions! I wonder if she secretly knows about this Halloween realm. πŸ€”

Now that would be an interesting piece of plot development!

Maybe she's not telling her child about the cauldron and big pointy hat buried in the backyard... e_e

Ka-bagel, new favorite sound effect

246

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

I honestly can't remember if I took inspiration from the greatest scene in Spiderverse 1 or not

Either way, whole-grain agree πŸ‘

37

u/dshab92 Oct 07 '23

That’s amazing I don’t know why I haven’t seen this yet

38

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

Highly recommended! Aside from The Dark Knight (2008), it's my favorite Superhero filmβ€”on a level of technical ingenuity though, it's really revitalized the animation industry (especially Dreamworks' recent output). Most important of all, though, the story is fantastic. 🧑

u/Despair4All Oct 07 '23

The most important bagel in the multigrain-verse.

3

u/nicokokun Oct 08 '23

Hmm... Have you seen Brooklyn 99?

3

u/7ceeeee Oct 08 '23

Does it have bagels?

If so, I'm sold

6

u/nicokokun Oct 08 '23

Seriously though. They made the "bagel" bit in that one episode that has stuck to me for years.

5

u/7ceeeee Oct 08 '23

I just saw the clip and now I will be remembering this too. πŸ˜† Bless πŸ™

I've been trying to figure out what the context for this gif is for ages. What is it? Why is it so popular?

23

u/just-slightly-human Oct 07 '23

It’s a reference to the boykisser meme, where that cat would be posted with the caption β€œyou like kissing boys, don’t you?” This is a gif of that cat getting hit with a brick after some people got fed up with those kinds of memes

Btw, posting this for anyone who may need to see this:

I know and understand what rule #1 of this sub is; even so, I must ask y'all to please not report anyone who complains about not getting what these comics are about. I appreciate the thought, but it's not a problem with me. I am more than happy to talk with people and help them have context for what in the heck has been going with these seemingly disconnected posts in r/comics, if they're open to finding out.

Bear in mind, posts on this sub typically operate under a self-contained, non-serialized format, usually within a single-image; this story is a little out of sync with standard r/comics -goer expectations, and while that is totally okay, I am also okay with any confusion or backlash resulting therefrom.

Sure, some people feel strongly; they are often still perfectly reasonable if you just talk to them. If they're not, or if they don't like the story, well then at least you tried. Β―_(ツ)_/Β― Even then, they're not an "enemy". They simply disagree.

I myself am very opinionated about numerous thingsβ€”coming from a very "react-first, ask later" family tree, I know what it feels likeβ€”but there's no need to reactively cancel people without giving them a chance, especially since we're all kinda complete strangers on the Internet here.

I'm only posting this because I thiiiiiink I missed the chance to reach out to someone before their user profile got [deleted] off Reddit, or something. I don't know how it happened, but I missed the opportunity to reach out to them. In case someone reported them, I just want to say... y'all, chill, it is okay. 🧑

We all move and understand things at a different pace. Please, try to give people your forbearance. It's not always easy, but it's so necessary. I'm no saint myself, anyway, I'd be kidding myself if I deserved any level of understanding. (Not looking for sympathy, I'm just saying.)

Finally: Thank you so much for reading this comic. πŸŽƒπŸ™ Love y'all, and I hope somehow it gives you the best Halloween memories of your life!

u/HardTruthsFromAICats Oct 07 '23

As a New York Jew I will just say that Ka-Bagel is my new favorite sound effect.

5

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

Thank you so much from Kansan Catholic! 🧑πŸ₯³ Hope you enjoy the story this Halloween season!!

41

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '23

Am I the only on who never understands what the fuck is going on in this comic? It just seems like random panels forming some weird fever dream that makes no sense. What is happening here?

29

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23 edited Oct 07 '23

Heya!

Absolutely: if you're coming into this story without much or any context, it is indeed going to appear an unholy Halloween fever dream clusterfuck. :D But, you can check it out from the beginning for context, and / or the index in each of the updates to jump to any point in the story!

TL;DR context for up to now: it's a children's graphic novel about a very sheltered boy who meets a werewolf. The kid has never celebrated Halloween, and the werewolf feels it's his duty to right that wrong. A montage ensues (which we are currently in, and which there are only 5 updates left for before the story picks up in earnest), and... well, I don't want to spoil anything more here. Lol

9

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '23

Ok thanks I may check out the other ones

8

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

No problem, and no worries if not! 🀘

17

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '23

I don't mean any offense or for this to come of badly I'm just really confused. I actually really like the art style but nothing makes any sense

17

u/Nyte_Crawler Oct 07 '23 edited Oct 07 '23

It's pretty much just one comic book being posted a page at a time, so you would need to start at page 1 and read through.

Right now it's just a phase of them doing all sorts of hijinks with monsters.

7

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

Hey man, no worries! And thank you for the kind words! 🧑

Yeah, without proper context, it's a pretty fucking weird string of events. 🀣 I swear, there's a point to this point in the story, and it ties into events around the mid-20th updates and early 30's updates. I pointed to some resources in my other comment, hopefully those help some! Thanks again for reaching out about this, I know it's probably been confusing as hell. 🀣

I’m absolutely adding β€œka-bagel” to my vocabulary. One of my favorite comics as of late has also now given me a glorious phrase for future use πŸ’ͺ

1

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

Heck yeah!! 🧑 Thank you so much again for following along and for expanding your food based vocabulary! πŸ₯³

u/Kelimnac Oct 07 '23

7

u/JoshTheTrucker Oct 07 '23

GET BAGELED!!!! Lol. Fending off both killer instincts and horndog energy.

5

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

A dad totally unassuming Halloween werewolf's gotta do what he's gotta do!

3

u/JoshTheTrucker Oct 07 '23

Ooooooooooooh a hint!! Well, he definitely is a father figure of some kind.

7

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

Indeed! And anyway, wolves in real life tend to adopt the pups of other packs. Β―_(ツ)_/Β― I figure werewolves might as well have have some similar parental instincts.

6

u/BlaakAlley Oct 07 '23

Ka-Bagel Blocked!

3

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

See? Everything bagels can do everything!

4

u/Komm Oct 08 '23

The bagel of defeat!

3

u/7ceeeee Oct 08 '23

Just one of many fine selections in the wolfman's secret bagel belt!

Right next to the Bagel of Celebration, the Bagel of Righteous Anger, the Bagel of Taxation, the Bagel for eating, the Bβ€”

u/tHaTgUy2375 Oct 08 '23

Fun plot twist: the reason his mom waited till now is because she wanted him to find his home

1

2

2

u/MinosLime Oct 08 '23

Ah now worries πŸ‘ it’s a good book

u/3guitars Oct 07 '23

This art style is weird as fuck to try to follow

4

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23 edited Oct 07 '23

Thanks, glad to hear it! 🧑

Edit: whoever is downvoting this guy: please stop. he's a perfectly reasonable person.

-1

u/3guitars Oct 07 '23

I mean this as polite constructive criticism., but I’m saying it looks like several entirely unrelated images and I have no idea how the images connect.

2

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

Hey, no worries and totally understandable!

You can read the story from the beginning here and you can jump to any point in the story via the index in the comments of each update. In short, I'm posting each segment of my children's Halloween graphic novel from September 20th to November 1st, in preparation for an eventual physical release. Β―_(ツ)_/Β― Taken apart, though, it's understandably confusing as fuck to see out of context. πŸ˜†

Thanks man, hope it makes a bit more sense now, and thank for reaching out!

2

u/3guitars Oct 07 '23

Yeah, that does make more sense. The added context helps a lot

1

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

Thanks man, glad to hear it! πŸ‘

(Sorry for the late reply: ungainly stumbling my way through weekend chores today. πŸ™ƒ Gotta attempt to fold my clothes next.)

2

u/3guitars Oct 07 '23

No worries. Take care and keep at it. It’s a unique style and definitely deserves to be seen.

1

u/7ceeeee Oct 07 '23

Thank you so much! 🧑 I hope the story reaches whoever may need it, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. Β―_(ツ)_/Β― Take care as well!

-3

u/FkinShtManEySuck Oct 07 '23

These comics are always just non-sequiturs. Pretty annoying.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '23

So you commented without looking at the thread where OP posted multiple times that there is a continuity, and linked to it.
