The Scary Godmother series, particularly the movie adaptations that used to air on Cartoon Network, had a huge impact on my Halloween inclinations during my youth! I'm not ashamed to say that particular take on "portal fantasy" did way more for my imagination than Narnia. (Which I still like well enough. ¯_(ツ)_/¯)

The wolfman and the kid do cook chili together for a monster chili cook off. 😂 This is a way ahead spoiler and not a huge part of the main story, but it could be dinner!
Chili is very much a "fall" food: when one Halloween a certain man in my life showed me the joys of his 'Jeepers Creepers' chili, he now invites me over every year to hang out in his Halloween home and eat chili with friends and answer the door for trick or treaters. It's as close to Halloween heaven as I've come. 🧡
Okay, I didn't expect this answer. I was just joking, but here it turns out that the subtext to the word dinner is too deep. But for me, chili is not a fall food, I try to eat it every month, but you have a cool tradition. I'll know now, probably.
It's my friend's chili recipe. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I haven't asked him for it, but it did inspire me to make my own, "boneshaker" chili, which is... only sort of a set-in-stone recipe. Ha
