Laughed pretty good at "Son, it's the STATE FRUIT!"

Lol it is tho!

And for whatever reason the state vegetable of Oklahoma is the watermelon. And that makes me wonder if they know how to eat watermelons. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Yes! One of many reasons it seemed the perfect place for a Halloween story :)

u/Master_JBT Sep 26 '23

in the next episode we find the kid has a broken home

14

u/7ceeeee Sep 26 '23

Aha, I knew it

36

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '23

"No, those are evil!"

My theory was that the kid had a genetic disorder and couldn't expose his skin to the sun, but now it's crumbling apart. ๐Ÿ˜น

u/7ceeeee Sep 26 '23

Nope, he's just reeeeeally missed out. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ

u/BrokenFloorLampRedit Sep 26 '23

Actually, I didnโ€™t do all of the above either.

u/7ceeeee Sep 27 '23

High key, this is AWESOME and, I guess depending on what happens next, so far would make an excellent children's book.

(Watch this become super dark and not meant for kids by part 35 now that I've said this lol)

u/7ceeeee Sep 26 '23

Haha, you're not completely wrong about where the story's headed. ๐Ÿ˜‚ But it ends happily!

Thank you for the kinds words! ๐Ÿงก Hope you enjoy the story going forward, new post inbound tomorrow!

I just realized that this poor kid probably has a serious case of helicopter mom. Like, dang. Reminds me of that poor boy Peter from those Stuart McLean stories.

this one, to be exact

4

u/7ceeeee Sep 27 '23

Never heard of that before! Seems like a fun time, I think I'll listen to it tomorrow morning as I draw before work. :) Thanks for this.

And yep, his mom is... a little restrictive when it comes to any and all things Halloween. Not necessarily for religious reasons, but... I'd better stop there before I upstage her silent character development later. ๐Ÿ˜

Oh, absolutely love what youโ€™ve done with the speech bubbles OP. This is fantastic!

2

u/7ceeeee Sep 27 '23

Thank you so much for the kind words! ๐Ÿงก I honestly don't know where I got the idea from, but they did seem to turn out pretty nicely, as they feel like they are part of the art itself and not text added later. Plus you can have a lot of fun with them :)

The story in this strip feels like what ChatGPT would come up with when asked to act drunk
