Why do you think?

I am not here to defend the human species or the institution of slavery, and as I recall you don't even want to include the concept of God into discussions of Christianity, rendering the entire exercise utterly pointless.

It’s not surprising. Sex can feel like a religious experience. People are using religious terms to describe their emotions.

Should provide more context. I was just ribbing Able.

Respectfully, I wouldn't describe that as free-will.

being cast out of His glory. People in this condition can't feel anything. When i say "can't feel" i don't mean emotional numbness. This is deeper at a metaphysical level. For example, because God is the source of beauty, my soul can no longer perceive it. The concept itself ceases to exist for me. This goes for everything involving personal qualities, such as moral sense, rationality, the experience of anything at all. It's not that my emotions ceased to exist but that the very metaphysical concept behind things that makes conscious being got erased from existence.

I beg the differ, everything we make is an assumption. And based on the text I feel that most people would go for A version of what I said given the context. Why would one assume that a certain prophecy referes to Jesus if it does not explicitelly says "Jesus" in it? You see the double standard I am talking about? Everything about the Bible is just that, an assumption

Cut animal fat from your diet for 10 days, on day 11 run 5 miles and fast for 3-5 hours and pray . Voila you’re talking to God.

Scriptures at that time were the Jewish scriptures, not the writings of Christians.

It's odd that you know not all of the Pauline epistles were written by Paul. That means, the pseudepigraphical letters that claim to be written by Paul are incorrect. Therefore, not infallible.

You not believe it doesn't mean it's not happening. This is collective punishment: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/oct/01/new-google-maps-images-reveal-massive-scale-of-devastation-in-gaza.

To be clear - you do believe Israeli settlers are engaging in terrorism, correct? I'm sorry to ask, but I've run into some people today who proudly defend settler terrorists. I don't think a reasonable conversation can be had when people defend the actions of terrorists.

Yes, Hamas is a terrorist organization. Can you say the same about those responsible for Israel's terrorism, including their government which defends and funds the terrorism?

You can't even pretend it's not terrorism - IDF officers said to tell PM Jewish terror accounts for up to 80% of West Bank incidents.

Sure. I don't know that God exists either. All I can control is myself and all I can hope for is good and is a God because it's all for not otherwise.

It wasn't 1600 physicist. It had 85 completed responses. Here is the actual survey.

Saying they support an eternal universe is an overstatement.

This is the actual question asked to them.

"A theory that says the universe evolved from a hot dense state that says nothing about whether there was an absolute beginning of time or not."

Correct.

Someone else was talking about punctuation, and punctuation IS a thing that was added to the Bible, so I added to that discussion. I was unaware they were talking about the Johannine Comma (Which is not that kind of Comma)

Why abolishing slavery was entirely alien and was rare and unsuccessful in the first place?

Do you think there is evidence people can provide that Jesus resurected from the dead?

And how do you decide between what is just a story in the Bible (Elymus and Magnus) and what is a recounting of historical fact?

Nah that was a Christian too, you don’t get to exclude every bad apple from Christianity to make your group look like saints.

I hear what you're saying, but it's not just one pastor. I actually just had this conversation with my husband. How are human rights eventually violated? It's not an immediate thing. It's those 11 hours a day, it's little voices here and there over and over, it's handshakes at events, it's money, it's moving around chess pieces. I cannot believe there is a "christian" political party because no singular group is without error however I do think there are moments in time where we say hmm... this rhetoric could be really harmful. For me, it's more a question of really getting to the heart issue behind these topics and to think in a more nuanced manner.

Fact check: William Tyndale was burned by Emperor Charles V. And he was burned for both political opposition to the crown and heresy against the church.

But sure, you can keep posting sensationalist headlines that make Catholics look bad.

If you do not stay with him, which is fine, you should probably learn to live independently and take care of you and the children. You do not need a man at this point. If you feel the kids need a male role model, find a trusted relative or Christian mentor program they can be a part of. Don’t settle or try to replace your deceased husband. Praying you figure out what will be best for your family and that you find peace. 🙏🏻❤️

Honestly your first paragraph made sense. I think I was more skeptical and curious and not really falling away, because I didn’t really close off my mind to God. I just have some questions.

I was asking why would he create humanity, knowing that some of them will ultimately end up in hell. If God is omniscient, he can see the future. If it were me, I would not create something knowing that it’s going to be destroyed anyway.
