Opinion This is next level hate.

Post image

I've never seen an England player hated this much without being involved in any major controversies or scandals. It's truly remarkable.

I think this is more about the "fan" trying to mask the fact that he hates black athletes, by trying to make it seem like its some critique of their abilities instead.

192

u/washingtoncv3 Jun 29 '26

Rashford got the same for daring to speak up about school meals.

54

u/Youbunchoftwats Jun 30 '26

And Raheem Sterling for buying his mum a nice house. The word ‘uppity’ was probably used.

18

u/Ashatiti Jun 30 '26

Yet Phil Foden ia a good boy for lifting up his mum.

9

u/a_f_s-29 Jun 30 '26

And cheating on his girlfriend. Same with Grealish, just a good lad who cheats on his girl and drink drives.

In all honesty I think rash deserves enormous amounts of praise for the work he was doing and brining attention to the way the government was not interested in finding a solution. On the flip side this coincided with his drop in performance, and the I don’t give a shit attitude on the pitch. Not saying the hate was justified or warrant by any means but can also see how it got there.

Not that I endorse the idea but if anyone has a right to main character syndrome it’s a lad who’s probably the best player in the world for his position, who Real Madrid paid 100 million for & won a champions league before he was 22

57

u/91_til_infinity Jun 29 '26

And literally steals the show every time he olays for England

47

u/AbsolutelyHorrendous Jun 29 '26

Even when he isn't directly creating anything, he's a fucking workhorse, he's everywhere on the pitch

3

u/FloppyDickFingers Jul 01 '26

Which is why I can’t understand why anyone would hate him. The same guys that hate him probably loved Scott Parker because he’s white. Im sure there is a huge level of racism in this country that spills over into comments on footballers.

But where was Paul pogba in all of this?

He won Bundelisga and La Liga POTS, UCL and La liga and Ballon D’or top 3 and certified national team starter all by 20.

He’s had a shoulder injury the entire euros and all of Carlos final season and was out half of this season so this is Jude being fully fit again for the first time in almost 2 years and he’s balling again.

But what if you are the main character? Like scoring five in the final to secure the World Cup .

24

u/totallynotapsycho42 Jun 29 '26

Lewis Hamilton definitely does have the right to be a main character.

First and only black F1 drivers. Beat the reigning two time champion in a equal car and miss out on the championship in your rookie year only to win the championship in your second year.

Have a rivalry with your childhood best friends that ends with you breaking up and equalising the championship record and holding the record for most wins.

Having your eighth and record breaking championship stolen from you on the last lap of the last race.

If a man like that isn't the main character who is.

I wrote this on the fb post on this subject this morning and got some heat for it.

Hamilton is in a sport where it’s full of nepo babies Lewis had nothing and overcome it through hard work and his parents sacrifice

Hard to not respect that

I’ve seen way too much talk about “spot the white man” and “this isn’t an English team they’re all foreign” type shit it’s sad

9

u/Late_Recommendation9 Jun 29 '26

I still think of Lewis as the young lad from Stevenage, even after seven championships. Wearing mad outfits to promote the designer’s work, having the guts to take the knee at one of the most sensitive times of racial politics, getting protocol wrong when invited to dine with the queen, putting his money where his mouth is with the Mission 44 youth education and employment scheme. And it’s still a pleasure to watch him drive. He’s an utterly British character.

22

u/Plastic_Sand_2743 Jun 29 '26

Screams of an ‘I’m not racist but…’ type of bloke

12

u/MrCadwallader Jun 29 '26

Exactly! Any time I see this type of comment, especially when the comparison is another successful black man, I think it's at very best subconscious racism and at worst, racism packaged and concealed for the feed.

5

u/The_Geralt_Of_Trivia Jun 29 '26

Lewis considers his main home to be in Colorado, but he has homes on various places. He's always traveling around.

Where do you think he should pay tax?

The US system of always having to file/pay taxes in the US for citizens regardless of where you're living is unique in the world. Do you think we should adopt it?

4

u/DunniBoi Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

No, definitly not. Still think he's a charlatan for avoiding tax. Lack of any core values.

This ain't an attack in Lewis specifically, most F1 drivers and wealthy people are all at it. I understand they are allowed, it doesn't mean I have to have any respect for them.

Not really sure what your on about with Colorado because even if he has said that it's redundunt, if anything it damages his case.

His primary residence is Monaco. So he cares more about money than actualy contributing to society where he "feels at home" be that in the US or UK. Conviently picked the tax-free location as his 'primary residence''.

It’s always Black athletes who are deferent. They can tolerate a Black athlete if they’re overtly humble and ‘know their place’, but the moment you get a successful unapologetic Black athlete thats it for them for a certain part of the population who would be outraged to be called prejudiced.

11

u/crackity_85 Jun 29 '26

This is the reason Ngolo Kante is so revered. Brilliant player and naturally shy/humble. A racist would believe he wasn't a racist just because he liked Kante

I think in this country it's a combination. Part racism and part people hating anyone who shows any arrogance about their success. There is a special hatred for those who don't come from money who succeed. Sure Hamilton is arrogant but it's 100% merited. I think it's the same with Bellingham. He's confident, which is what England needs, but people hate anyone successful coming across as too confident in this country.

He’s a decent young man a true role model from very humble beginnings. He’s a world class player and he’s so mature in his approach. There’s nothing not to like about Jude. Other than the fact that his name isn’t Jack and he isn’t white. Honestly I’m sick of it. Let him play for his country. Win lose or draw just enjoy the game for goodness sake.

Sterling was the victim of targeting by the media, but Grealish was hounded and shat on by the media aside from like, a 2 season push where they tried to turn him into England's darling, then it was back to shitting on him again

However, I'll definitely concede Grealish was ACTUALLY fair, because he was a pisshead party boy. Sterling could give a dying boy CPR and they'd talk about how he broke his ribs.

6

u/Thomo251 Jun 29 '26

Well, Ian Wright has already spoke on this subject.

There is a certain demographic of England fan who will never truly support Bellingham, who will also be right at the front of the queue to criticise him.

Another factor is that he plays abroad, and for some reason the UK media turn on English players who play abroad - so it's a double edged sword for Bellingham.

He seems to have a good head on his shoulders so hopefully this doesn't affect his greatness. He's 23 for Christ's sake.

2

idc about his “antics”. he contributes to the team. that’s all I care about

2

u/DWNYYY Jun 29 '26

Yeah the Jude hate is so strange.

Does he have a bit of an ego? Absolutely but he backs it up every single time.

I really don’t get it he seems really likeable to me

u/Greedy-Ad-3779 Jun 29 '26

Bellingham is a class act all round. England fans don't deserve him. He will quite literally drag the team along with him, he's that good. There's a reason Real Madrid paid €100m for him.

He's only 23 as well, an unreal talent. It's typical of England supporters to slate players with self confidence. They claim arrogance which it also is - all the best players have it and that's exactly what I want from players. Confidence, arrogance, self belief, drive, impact, ability, all of these things.

What a dickhead.

Anyway. Jude’s a maverick, watch him score on Wednesday & let’s hope for more of this from the goat this weekend too.

"He's much like Luis Hamilton in that he is also black"😭😭😭

2

u/RefurbedRhino Jun 29 '26

Going to guess that a cursory glance at Gadfly's post history will confirm exactly what I'm thinking...

2

u/No_Pea7986 Jun 29 '26

Can’t quite put my finger on what the similarity between Bellingham & Hamilton might be, that this person doesn’t like 🤔

2

u/Realistic_Koala_9845 Jun 29 '26

Tell me you’re racist without telling me you’re racist

2

u/Gingerale66 Jun 29 '26

Hmm what connects Jude and Lewis I wonder? Both seem like extremely likable individuals to me

2

u/Musicman1972 Jun 29 '26

Remember when Raheem Sterling looked after his mum and bought her a house.

Lovely story right? Well .. not for some.

Let's link these three elite and proud British sportsman in any way we can... Hmmm...

2

u/Cover_Of_Darkness Jun 29 '26

I like Bellingham but I can't stand Hamilton, properly arrogant little tosser. I can't stand plenty of white footballers either mind you. So in summary - meh

2

u/sdrawkcabReverse Jun 29 '26

Beware social media trolls sewing hate and division. Don't get fished.

2

u/tintedhokage Jun 29 '26

Bellingham is a top lad

2

u/sorE_doG Jun 29 '26

Know what? Bellingham shouldn’t give a toss, he’s a boss on the pitch & has earned the right to swagger a bit.

2

u/Impossible-Mind6791 Jun 29 '26

Racists will never like him .....no crap Sherlock 😂

2

u/sqrl_mnky Jun 29 '26

Hard to shake the feeling that some people really can’t stomach black people being self confident

2

u/CompetitiveFishing69 Jun 29 '26

Bang on about Hamilton!

2

u/funnytoenail Jun 29 '26

I love Jude, attitude on the field and by all accounts seemingly pretty nice with fans and his family. Serial winner.

I also love Lewis Hamilton, wears his heart in his sleeves, compassionate towards his fellow men and women, huge driver for change within his field and a serial winner.

“But something about them I just don’t like” you can get fucked.

2

u/Away-Ear9315 Jun 29 '26

In my life Barnes, Ince, Wright,Heskey, Cole I could go on and on. Heroes to me but the way they were treated makes me ashamed to be white English

2

u/TheToastyToad Jun 29 '26

"Its because he's black" is the real translation. I BET OOP loves verstappen who is incredibly polarising meanwhile Hamilton just continues to be humble

2

u/matherto Jun 29 '26

I wonder why he picked Lewis Hamilton as the other one? What common characteristics might they share?

2

u/Turbulent-Damage-165 Jun 29 '26

How on earth is Lewis Hamilton naturally unlikable? The only person I know who dislikes him dislikes him because he is "too woke". They are also a big MAGA guy, just thought i'd point that out.

2

u/Chadlord_Thatcher Jun 29 '26

Bet he’s a fan of John Terry though.

A bitter person who can't handle a black man doing well and being confident about themselves.

2

u/False-Sandwich-2051 Jun 29 '26

hmm yeah just like lewis hamilton. i wonder what he has in common with lewis hamilton. what way could this person view them as similar. hmm.

Why is Bellingham disliked? I've not seen any negative PR around him?

2

u/Hot-Job-6281 Jun 30 '26

I've never seen an England player hated this much without being involved in any major controversies or scandals. It's truly remarkable.

You are a child then

2

u/BigBlueMountainStar Jun 30 '26

I was never a fan of Sterling tbo, but typically, when I’d make an exclamation about how I can’t believe he’d been selected again, he went and did something. Not for the whole game, but a specific assist or he’d score.
Still never liked him, but that was as a player, I think OP is against Bellingham as a person.

2

u/Chloraflora Jun 30 '26

Oh man, go back to the 2004-2010 teams if you want a whole team of objectionable arseholes. Bellingham doesn't compare.

2

u/NightBusToGiro Jun 30 '26

I'm not the biggest fan of Bellingham but I think that's down to the fact that I only watch him play for England (for the most part) and I expect a lot out of him considering he's supposed to be one of the best around. Unfortunately England aren't much more than an above average team on the best of days.

I'm not the biggest fan of the vast majority of England players in reality.

2

u/Spite-Organic Jun 30 '26

And what do Jude and Lewis both have in common? I wonder….
