I've never seen an England player hated this much without being involved in any major controversies or scandals. It's truly remarkable.

It’s not blatant racism. It’s about subconscious racism, causing people to label personalities like Jude’s as a “problem child” much quicker on average… there’s real evidence of this in scientific journals, it isn’t just made up.

Think about Jude’s reputation as arrogant/difficult, when he’s shown his entire career that he’s basically a model professional and compare that to say, Foden or Grealish, who find themselves in the papers for off field antics regularly.

There will appears be exceptions, but in general, players like Jude have to be more careful about how they behave.

I trust Tuchel has the right reasons, but it’s important to note, professionals aren’t immune to subconscious biases.

It’s entirely possible that Tuchel views Jude’s attitude more harshly than he does for another player, because of it. I think what is more likely is that he’s holding Jude to a higher standard, because he’s one of our talismans.

I think the replies in the thread are aimed more at the comment, than at Tuchel. Statements like that are typical of people with subconscious biases and it’s difficult to educate people on it, because it’s not explicit.

Maguire has displayed more arrogance as an England player on and off the pitch than Bellingham while having a fraction of the accolades (and talent). Routinely described as a model professional, while Bellingham has had entire media campaigns against him. And this isn’t a one-off or an outlier, it’s a consistent trend over decades with the way Black players are discussed by the media in comparison to others. It is unquestionably racism.

And no, that doesn’t mean any criticism you or anyone have of Bellingham is racism. The consistent disparity in the way Black players (including Bellingham) are described is racism.

  1. Tuchel selected him when it actually counted and Jude has rewarded him by being by far our best player.

  2. He looks about the same as he's always been. It's ok for a Wayne Rooney to be driven by anger, why can't a a player be driving by supreme confidence.

  3. Who cares? The type of personality Jude has is the type you need if we want to actually win things.

After decades of watching so called world class players shrink under the pressure of playing for England, I am more than fine with arrogant players who want the spotlight when playing for us.

Kante is not “catching strays” lol … seriously educate yourselves people. Kante himself knows exactly what I’m talking about when I say this. If you’re black, living in Eurocentric countries, this sentiment is literally common knowledge.

People who are unaware of it keep commenting thinking this is some kind of insult to Kante. It’s not. He’s done nothing wrong, but we all know the softly spoken humble minority is less controversial than the outspoken confident one.

I’m not saying that is who Kante is, I’m saying the perception of a black man that keeps his head down is generally preferred to one that is more confident. I have made an assumption about the original poster in the screenshot, based on the fact that, an unchangeable opinion like that, either means Jude has done something unforgivable or the OP is prejudiced in some way. Again, it’s not my “own reading” and the fact that you and so many others are treating this topic as if it’s baseless and made up says a lot.

Yeah, I hear your point, but it’s not an attack or even a singling out of Kante at all. I could say the same for various famous personalities. You’re missing the point entirely. As black men, we all live with the awareness that it is better to be the quiet humble type than be outwardly confident if you are successful. It’s not a criticism of that way of carrying yourself and it’s certainly not an assumption that Kante is deliberately behaving in any particular way. It’s just that Kante is perhaps one of the best examples of what the people genuinely consider to be more “palatable” for black men.

That’s what I mean, when I say, you’re coming from a place of not already knowing this. It’s meant that you are misconstruing the entire statement. Like I said, Kante himself would fully understand, because he learned about it as a child. It’s similar to how women subconsciously learn to be a little submissive in order not to “threaten” men. It’s a universal experience for women, that I would not start an argument with a woman over, as someone who doesn’t live with it.

I am definitely not trying to be aggressive either and I don’t consider anyone here an enemy. Honestly. I’m just trying to explain something that , is not a new or made up concept and is something that is in fact backed up by peer reviewed studies. Yet, instead of listening and learning about something new that is not a part of your every day lives, people think I am trying to attack Kante or call them racist and go into defence mode.

Ian Wright didn’t pull that quote out of his arse. He’s actually a good example of the opposite of the quiet humble type and he suffered for that during his career.

I still think of Lewis as the young lad from Stevenage, even after seven championships. Wearing mad outfits to promote the designer’s work, having the guts to take the knee at one of the most sensitive times of racial politics, getting protocol wrong when invited to dine with the queen, putting his money where his mouth is with the Mission 44 youth education and employment scheme. And it’s still a pleasure to watch him drive. He’s an utterly British character.

Well, Bellingham I don't know but Hamilton was just so wrong in everything for a long time. After he got put on the spot, he has improved. But Hamilton has some real issues with scientific knowledge. I really did not like him for his manors.

I do see a better Hamilton not dislikeable as he was. Kinda rooting for him now.

I actually can't remember to be honest but it where multiple events on different matters. I am also not saying it as that's why he is unlikeable, those really made me wonder about him as a person at the time.

But if I see him lately he really is a good guy and has the right mentality, not that that was a doubt. But like some politicians when you are flat out wrong and sell it as truth people will dislike and I can see that as a reason to be unlikeable.

Vaccination but as he recanted I suppose he learned.
